Beautiful picture quality, absolutely quiet during playback and it never had any issues playings all types of discs.

Great picture, great sound, i would of gave it 5 stars, but the remote is tedious, buttons are bunched together and dont light up. Many times I've tried to pause the movie and hit the stop. Other than that. Great player you will not be disappointed.

Pricey - but I bought this because it provides hook-ups for analog sound for 5.1 systems and it's compatible with my new LG OLED TV (4K, HDR, etc.). Hook-up was easy and the device interacted with my TV automatically. Rather bizarre "screaming woman" who spoko way to rapidly at the initial configuration process, but the rest went smoothly. Menus are intuitive, and the on-line owner's manual (50 pages!) is very helpful if a bit complex. Excellent picture as expected. I've had many Panasonic products and expect this one to be just as good.

Overall the picture quality is very good and the option of HDR optimizer is the best. However, the lack of zoom and ability to select screen sizes such as 4:3 or wide is a downside. I am not a fan of the black bars and having an option of zoom or fit to screen option would be nice. It would help particularly for videos that are not in full resolution. I know that's not how the movie was intended to be in certain situations but it would be nice to include the feature. Also the remote is feels flimsy and there is no single click option for turning on subtitles. I was unable to set an option where subtitles are turned on by default and so I have to manually turn on the subtitles every time I watch a movie by going into the menu and digging into 4 clicks to turn them on. Overall I like the player for the picture quality but wish Panasonic can add these features in a future firmware upgrade.

If you want to get the most out of 4K, and you've got a TV that can handle all of the HDR formats including Dolby Vision, this bad boy is the ticket! I've watched Alita and Scott Pilgrim, both in Dolby Vision, and all I can say is wow! Honestly, though, I could live without any streaming via a BD player, as my smart TV (especially the 65" Sony XR90J) covers anything I could ever need via it's baked in Google TV. But, this baby is the best of the best (IMHO). Totally worth it.

Incredible player. I used a PS5 or an Xbox Series X to play bluray and 4k discs.....I am AMAZED at how much better they look on this. Some players can't automatically switch between HDR and Dolby vision but this one does. Highly recommend getting a dedicated player like this if you are using a console to play discs.

initially I bought sony x800m2 on amazon on black friday thinking it would be fine without DV auto detection / little better video quality / HDR optimizer. however, I couldn't stand more than 3 days. I paid $200 for sony and $350 for this unit so consider price factor. DV auto detection It was not annoying. however later really get confused if which movies have DV or HDR10.. especially I have many steelbook...there are not infos on the back of steelbook(there is art) or disc. I was not sure if I can manage for next several yrs..

I have been using my gaming console to play 4k UHD movies. I finally upgraded to this player and it is a night and day difference! This player is stunning!

The Picture on this unit is just fantastic. It is a step above the Samsung 8500 and Sony x700 (I owned both) While the picture is a step above, the sound is truly where it separates from the pack. It makes my mid level surround sound system sound like it's worth 10k more than i purchased it for. Just spend the extra $ on this, you will not be disappointed. Also-be sure to use it for streaming because it upconverts and makes the sound come out so much better than using your smart tv app!!!

Absolutely fabulous! 4K is stunning on OLED TV, but what is noticeable is the upconverting of BLU-RAYS is awesome! This player is a very nice balance of price and features. It has similar features like its older brother 9000 but more digestible price tag. Currently the best on the market. Thank you Panasonic for the job well done! Pretty please backlit remote! :)

The Panasonic Blu-Ray player was excellent in its ease of installation, picture and audio quality, and (when on sale at Best Buy) an excellent value. My only complaint was it the way the unit was shipped: It was placed in a box that was much too large and it was wrapped in two thin layers of bubble wrap. As a result, it was free to bounce around the inside of the large box during shipping. I was concerned that it was damaged in transit when I opened the box. Luckily, it worked fine once it was installed in my system.

What a player! I upgrader from the UB-900 to this player. WOW is what can say. It has a better processor than the old one and It has Dolby Vision which is great for OLED TV,s. UB-900 was Panasonics top player back in 2016. Of course right now the top player from Panasonic is UB-9000 but its expensive. The UB-820 is definingly worst the asking price. I did get on sale so that's even better.

This year 2023 I bought the best OLED Samsung S95C and realized I needed a much better UHD Blu-ray player to complement my system. Works seamlessly with my tv, SamsungQ990C soundbar and Apple TV. Very happy to have a complete and reasonably priced high end home entertainment system.

Truly amazing. I have Apple TV 4K and this player is considerably better. I didn’t think it would be noticeable but it’s great. Audio is improved too. Pair this with an oled tv and your life’s purpose will be fulfilled. The operating system for apps is utter garbage, but that’s not what the player is for.

Have had this player for quite some time now and am extremely pleased with it! With Oppo no longer making players, this seemed to be the next best alternative and it has not disappointed. It has played everything I have thrown at it and the picture is great - the HDR optimizer appears to work as advertised. Definitely better than the Sony 800 it replaced and I do like have a time display back on the front of the unit. Getting it on a big sale was a bonus!

Easy to set-up, the picture looks amazing. Very quiet!
