Middle-of-the-road unit has most features I would want from the UB9000 and has build quality (average) from UB420. Don't buy for streaming apps, use dedicated streaming app for that.

Look for open box

The firmware needs work for watching anything in dolbyvision. The screen will flicker, which is disappointing. Look for a great deal on an open box model and it’s worth it. $350 and it was like brand new.

Amazing picture and sound

I noticed an immediate improvement in both. So clear and the sound was amazing. So happy I upgraded

Best for the money

Plays 4k movies my LG 4k blu ray player has trouble with. Has analog audio out puts, but won't output HDMI digital audio and analog at the same time. This is a problem for my Onkyo Tx-sr805 receiver. The receiver needs analog audio for zone 2 and 3.

Easy to use

You get what you pay for, it's pricey compared to other models but 100% worth the money as long as you have a good HDR 4K tv and a receiver capable of handling the sound experience.

Nice disc player

Got the Panasonic UB820K hoping to fix this. It does load faster and played some of the DVDs so we were happy. Plays 4k like a dream. Just use it to play discs. The new audio formats supported are great on our 7.2.2 surround system.

If you have doubts wanting a 4k player but have a ps5 or xbox. Just buy it. This is better and has dolby vision!

Best ratio of performance to cost in media players

The tone mapping and video processing capabilities enhance every movie but, specifically top notch mastered DV presentations. The DP-UB820-K is worth every penny in an age of deprecated physical media.

It's a substantially more powerful and responsive machine. I love the HDR tone mapping features. I've used it for both Blu-Ray and 4K Blu-Rays and it looks and sounds excellent. Whether in Dolby Vision or not, the quality of physical media compared to streaming is worth the lack of convenience (as if having to get off the couch and switch out discs is some unsurmountable task). I'll be honest and say I don't use the streaming/smart TV functions, so I can't really speak to the quality of the other functions.

Best player out there

I've had nothing but Panasonic's for the last five years before that it was Samsung. The Samsung's all were junk. I tried a Samsung for a little while right before this one and it was all right but nowhere near, did it have as good of a picture and settings for the price.

Before I was playing the 4k disks from PS5 but the image was not even close what the UB820 can produce in HDR or DV.

One of the best

I had a Sony 6700 and picture and sound is much better. Menu has enough settings to be able to tailor the picture quality for your set. I would definitely recommend this player
