I bought this very expensive UHD Blu Ray player due to glowing reviews and because it’s enabled to handle many different HDR modes but for me this just hasn’t been the case. I have this unit paired with a brand new LG-C9-55” OLED that I also purchased from Best Buy and when I play an HDR content disc (Planet Earth II) it does NOT display it in HDR. Instead it says “Dynamic Range Conversion”. I know it’s not the TV because when I stream HDR content from YouTube the TV automatically recognizes the content. I’m probably going to unhook the unit and return it. Oh and it’s also not the HDMI cord because I’m using a $40 Belkin 8K cord. Very disappointed in Panasonic.

This player looks great. The only problem is that once in a while, I get sound but the picture drops out. When this happens, if I unplug it and wait a minute, then plug it back in, it then works fine.

I'm only giving this a 3 star because I did not know that it would not play mp4 blu ray disc.

This player is a huge disappointment. It has no tolerance for slightly damaged DVDs (such as are common from Netflix DVD) and often stops playing in the middle of a movie. Usually when that happens I can put the dvd in my 10-year-old Samsung player and it will play the DVD with no problem. I’m sure this player has many great features, but with this flaw I feel it was a waste of money. I wish I had returned it when I could have.

Still can’t figure out how to get anything other than Netflix and Prime to display on screen. Not user friendly and you better have teeny-tiny fingers if you want to press the right buttons on the remote! They are CRAMMED together! Guess I’ll be forced to print out my own user manual. Whaddya want for 500 bucks?!?!

The unit powers off completely on its own if paused for 20 minutes. You have turn it back on and navigate to restart the movie. There is no way to turn off this feature. This unit is turned off automatically. To save on electricity, this unit is turned off automatically depending on the media if there is no button operation for about 20 minutes when not playing back (such as when paused or displaying the menu, displaying still pictures, etc.)

Easily one of the top purchases of 2019. Levels beyond my older Samsung 4k player.

Upgraded my old blu-ray player to one that is 4K capable. To be honest, I can't really tell the difference from my old player. Also, I think the remote on this player is not very well thought out.

I purchased this player 2 months ago for prep in building my home theater. Huge lesson there. I finally got the room built yesterday and find out that this player is dead on arrival. It will not play any blu-rays or 4k discs. The only thing it'll do is stream amazon/netflix. All my discs work perfectly fine on my cheap player and on my PS4, but this one won't play a single one. It will show "reading" for 2-3 minutes then pop up that it can't read the disc.

Product after 6 months has completely failed to play any 4k disc. While playing blu rays and dvds just fine. It’s a major factory default experienced by nearly ALL buyers. Panasonic is a very bad company. The quality control is some of the absolute worst I have ever seen. To have a drive failure under 1 year is completely unacceptable.

Excellent player with easy set-up and absolutely stunning video capabilities.

Other than the sound this DVD player is horrible. It does not display 4K DVD movies any better than something costing $50.00. Its Amazon streaming has momentary freeing or skipping, I am struggling to find the word for it. I don’t have this issue with any other streaming device. This is not a $500.00 device. Oh, and for the folks out there that might think it is my TV, think again I have an LG OLED TV that is great. Enough said.

Picked up this model to try out Dolby Vision playback in UHD Blu-ray discs. But when I tried playing a movie, I was getting bright spots flickering across the screen. I also noticed that the video playback in the menu for the disc would frequently freeze and then jump. I tried a different UHD Blu-ray disc and hit the same issue. Looking online, I've seen similar reports. Perhaps it's a bad unit. I ended up returning it and stuck with playing UHD discs on my Xbox.

Decent play, too high a price at the time of purchase. Has consistent problems with powering up & reading discs despite firmware updates

Got this along with a 2019 Samsung Q80R and it’s amazing. 4K Blu-ray’s will make your draw drop. Literally. And it actually upscales standard 1080p Blu-ray’s REALLY well to the point where they look amazing! Highly recommend this player. Loads discs extremely fast. Remote is solid.

This produces an excellent picture for viewing with the projecter

AFTER WATCHING 4K UHD YOU WON'T ACCEPT LESS QUALITY SUCH AS CD OR DVD, SO ALL OTHER PLAYING OPTIONS HERE BECOME USELESS. IT WON'T PLAY MANY AUDIO FORMAT FROM MOVIES ON USB HARDDRIVE ON THE OTHER SIDE IT'S A QUITE AND IT'S MENU IS FINE.

I was on the fence about this player but now I am super happy I purchased it. I read some previous reviews and spoke with a few salesman and made the right decision. You won't be disappointed with your purchase.

My first DVD player. Excellent product .

No other player has the amount of options and features that this one does. It's worth it for the HDR optimizer alone. If you've ever disliked how dark your HDR movies are, this player will solve that problem.
