Wonderful game with a clunky battle system
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In any other RPG, a clunky battle system would be a deal-breaker, but Paper Mario has so much more to offer than its battles. It's got a wonderful story and the joy of finding All the hidden things never gets old.

Good times had
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Still not as great as the past paper Mario games but definitely an improvement over the last two. I can definitely say I had a good time with this game and the story and characters are hilarious. All in all I would say it was a good entry and a solid game for the series.

Great game for Nintendo fans!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a return to form for the Paper Mario series. While Nintendo ontinues to move the series towards being an 'RPG-lite' after The Thousand Year Door (Gamecube) they seem to have got the formula right this time: The story and writing are excellent, the puzzle system for battling keeps things interesting even deep in the game once you get the hang of it and the visuals/music is incredible. My 4 year old daughter has been watching me play and she is enthralled with the cast of characters, the visuals and the story. This game is highly recommend.

Great Game
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game has a great story to it. There are some very “childish” moments in the game but, the difficulty level in parts of it may be more for at least a pre-teen. Took me a few days of almost non-stop playing to play from start to finish but, there’s so much to go back and do (for the completionists).

Great writing, lacking battles
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game looks great, sounds great, and has absolutely hilarious writing, but is sorely lacking in the battle system. Battles are shallow and seemingly pointless. But if you’re looking for something to make you laugh, this is perfect.

Expected the worst; Got something good instead!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone who enjoyed the earlier Paper Mario games & held no interest in the later ones, I was cautious about Origami King leading up to its release. I am happy to say that I really enjoyed this game & would recommend it to anyone who skipped the previous entries! It still has its fair share of problems (battle system is either too simple or frustrating, yet ultimately pointless; story falls apart a bit near the end), but its high points (environments, humor & dialogue, OMG THE MUSIC) outweigh the low for me! If you’re looking for a new game on Switch, Paper Mario: The Origami King is worth it 1000-fold!

The best Paper Mario since TTYD
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The writing is and exploration is what keeps me playing this game, and while I would have preferred a classic paper mario RPG this is closer than the past three games have gotten to that formula. The ring combat system is interesting enough, but does get a little bit old after a while. The difficulty level is fairly low, and the game does help you out if it thinks you're even slightly confused or having trouble. Overall a pretty great game, I would definitely recommend.

Paper Mario is Back, for Better and Worse
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Paper Mario series has had it's hiccups in the past in regards to it's quality. This game attempts to be a return to form in humor and story, with a unique battle mechanic that should have been in development for a little longer. The platforming is great, the worlds are imaginative and colorful, and characters are charming....and then the battle system slogs the entire game down. Please watch review videos and decide if that battle system looks appealing, because it can grate on people who just want to get back to the platforming and varied environments.

A well done PaperMario game.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Paper Mario TOK on Switch is really fun to get into. Easy to play with top notch humor throughout the story & the battle puzzle aspect really gets you to challenge your brain. There is no exp in the gameplay but you can find accessories through the levels that will increase your stats so it's almost close to having exp anyway but saves time on the past Rpg with grinds. If some of these you like then give it a try.

Hours of Fun
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is really clever and ingenious. It has a lot of very interesting environments, typical of any Mario game and lots of fun puzzles and twists. There is huge entertainment value in this game. It goes beyond gameplay to give you lots of extras and surprises. The ‘battle’ scenes are not so challenging. It is more about the fun of getting there rather than the difficulty of killing the bosses. Try it out! It is sure to please and entertain well. Very child friendly, nothing of any offense for your kids.

Better than Color Splash!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not in the camp that says all Paper Mario games should be like TTYD. I actually liked the Wii version. This game has some fun elements and some decent humor, but isn't perfect. The biggest issue is the combat system. It gets repetitive and can be somewhat confusing (particularly for younger players). You can avoid these fights to some extent and there are some items that will help with the battles. That said, they could have simplified the battle system and made it level-based or something. The overall story and gameplay are much better than Color Splash (Wii U). Giving it 4 out of 5 because its got that first party Nintendo polish.

Pretty good. Not amazing.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Maybe this game was overhyped but overall this game is a solid 3/5 stars. The graphics are wonderful. The plot is great. Characters and the puzzling factors of the game that makes it challenging is very fun and wonderfully adventurous. The negatives of it is that the battling portion is too simple and not as strategic. All based off of timing and just choosing the right stuff which is too easy. Nothing challenging which is a downer. GameCube paper mario was definitely more fun and made it so battling with enemies would be not so repetitive and simple. There was alot more to the battling portion. Wish they could have focused on making that portion more strategic as well. Still didn't beat the game because I literally got it yesterday but I probably played about a third to half way already and seems like it's a game I still recommend. Still pretty addictive so gave it a good three stars. Wish I could give it a 4 though.

It's not The Thousand-Year Door. HOWEVER...
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is another solid entry in the Paper Mario series. I wasn't a huge fan of the circular battle system, but once I got used to it, it was totally fine. It's a fun game with a great sense of humor. Don't expect a Breath of the Wild experience with this one. Just sit back and have fun!

Actually worth the money
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is fantastic. I streamed 1 world and it took me around 4.5 hours to complete without many set backs so it should be about 25-35 hours of gameplay to beat but not 100% complete which seems rare now days. There are collectibles and secret spots in the game that really brings back so awesome gaming memories. Battles do get repetitive and can be a little complicated to solve the puzzle in time to make the battle easier but a great way to challenge a kid’s (and adults) brain.

A Swing and a Miss
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game looks amazing, has loads of charm, is extremely funny and well-written but yet falls short and was disappointing. Yes, I finished the game but it felt like finishing an okay book and not one you'd want to recommend or revisit. The game play is just not that fun and is way too easy. I felt my hand was held the entire game. The new battle mechanic is a chore. The boss battles were fun at first but just don't make up for it in the long run. Here's hoping the re-release 1,000 Year Door one day.
