The battle mechanics feel a little simple but so far it seems like classic Mario fun.

It’s Mario! Fun Mario game. Not a multi player game so that’s the downfall.

The paper mario series has always been a draw for me and now that I have kids they can enjoy that same experience with me. Paper mario has some fun mechanics and isn't super hard so it's a great casual time

Paper Mario series usually tries to keep things fresh on the RPG format, while remaining light and endearing with a Shrek-level touch of adult in it. Unfortunately, while this one is surely pretty, whimsical and has a great story, the battle system they chose SUCKS. Like, real bad. It's completely puzzle-based, void of skill or thought outside of moving a shifting puzzle around quickly to avoid getting outright creamed. Fights are either rapid, easy successes or one small misstep basically ensures you'll be wiped out and mad at life, since they're generally really stupid mistakes or accidental button presses. Skip this one.

For those hoping gameplay as excellent as The Thousand Year Door has returned, you might still be disappointed. On the plus side, the terrible sticker format hasn’t returned. In this game coins and items are what make almost everything work. Keep in mind every battle is a puzzle before fighting begins.

On its own, Origami King is a perfectly fine game. But as a Paper Mario game, it's kind of middle of the road. Not as bad as the last few in the series, but still nowhere near the level of the first three. Any long time fans of the series probably already know this. The battle system is the weakest part.
