This has to be one of the more memorable and enjoyable Mario adventures I've played. Witty dialogue, fun storyline, interesting battle mechanics; it's got everything.

I love Mario games, been playing them since I was a kid, but this game has issues. I love the story, and I love the characters, Olivia is awesome. But, and a huge BUT, the combat system is repetitive and boring, makes me want to rage quit. Also a lot of filler that is not needed. Like the game show, it's fine as a side quest, but not apart of the main story. But yeah, the combat system get boring fast, real fast. You can't even flee half the time, you are stuck in it and you die. Not worth your money, it gets frustrating.

Olivia, Mario’s first origami partner is so obnoxious. This game was made for ten year old, or under.

The way I see it, it's FAR better than the previous entries, Sticker Star and Color Splash. But if you've been looking to play an experience like the original Paper Mario or Thousand Year Door, this is not the game for you. Yes, the game has RPG elements, but I'd characterize it as an adventure game over an RPG. The world is more expansive and interconnected than previous entries, though not to the extent of an open world. The music is stellar and the integration of music is one of the best I've seen in a video game so far. The origami aesthetic is quite charming. But I have some gripes with the story. While I do admit the game goes places with its plot, it never feels overarching or impactful as it should be. I think Thousand Year Door and Super Paper Mario still have significantly better stories. As for writing in general, its comedy is mostly tame and "safe". Doesn't take so many risks with its jokes, and while I often smiled, I never laughed out loud. Once again, as a game. I recommend picking it up eventually. But those craving the RPG gameplay that Paper Mario was known for should look into other games, like Bug Fables.

I will never buy another digital download from Best Buy. it took my money instantly, but still no code best buy tells me, “we have to wait for the transaction to settle”. that makes no since I could have went to the store swiped the same card and walked out with the game. no wait there so why would there be a wait for this it should have been an instant transaction. At this rate ill get the games they shipped in the middle of a snow storm before the digital one

I have not played a Paper Mario game since the first game on the n64 (i know, where have i been right?), but i have sort of kept up with the series thru youtube let’s play videos. I had high expectations coming into it & was actually excited to have purchased it this morning, but i’m about 1hr in & while the game is very well written from the story standpoint...the combat mechanics absolutely destroy the experience for me. I suggest researching on youtube if you’re curious about the mechanics & make a judgment yourself. But yea...really disappointed.
