A just okay Mario game
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This isn't as fun as the other Paper Mario games in the series, but it's still a Paper Mario game which means it's on a whole other level of charm and fun compared to other franchises. The combat is boring and repetitive but the story is cute, which almost makes up for the somewhat blandness of the game.

Excellent - top tier Switch title
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent game. It’s my favorite Mario game on the Switch. Don’t let negativity on the battle system dissuade you. The game is great. It has one of the best OSTs of all time. Just buy it, you won’t regret it.

Game is OK
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Game is OK I can’t go to say that this game is amazing… Because I didn’t grab me and kept me playing… I suppose I keep expecting a game like Mario RPG for the super Nintendo… This one just doesn’t suffice… It’s still a great game… And if you like Mario.., you will like this game

Awesome gift!
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this game for my fiance's birthday and he just loves it! I haven't played this Mario game before and have to say it's very addicting and cute to play! It also makes you think about the puzzle battles. Definitely a great gift for someone or purchase for yourself!

Beautiful and fun game!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If tee up only playing a little bit of TTYD so I didn’t have much to base on going into this game but so far I’m loving it. Coins don’t seem to really matter which is sad but other than that the game is worth picking up.

Less than great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really looking forward to this game because I have always been a fan of the original Paper Mario on N64. However, this game removed the best elements from the original and doesn't offer anything new. There is no real reward from the battles with common enemies, so I found myself getting bored with the enemy encounters early on. Also, the original N64 version had "badges" that you collected throughout the game and each one granted you a unique ability. There is nothing like that in Origami King, and it feels more like you're just walking through the game with no real strategy. Maybe if you have a young kid who is just now getting into video games they would enjoy this game, but I'm not sure how anyone who regularly plays video games could find this game fun. Origami King severely disappointed me.

Beware Not Your Traditional RPG
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall the game is very decent and mostly enjoyable. My strongest criticism, and it could be bias since i grew up in the 90s playing rpgs as well as the first couple paper marios, is the battling set up, which is bascially half the game, is nearly pointless. You do not gain any experience points or level up your character when you win battles which makes it feel so pointless playing the game. Im not sure if they did this to cater toward little kids or something because whether you fight one enemy or one million, youre the SAME exact "level". Some people might not care but im constantly asking myself "why am I wasting my time with this game?". Thats honestly my only complaint but its a big one since its half the game like i said. The story, characters, graphics are all great like every other paper mario game.

Same charm, different combat
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off I’ll mention that I’m a long-time fan of the Paper Mario series. This game has all the charm and humor of the previous titles, but includes an odd - and slightly annoying at times - combat system. If you don’t like puzzles you for sure won’t like the combat in this game. Other than that, all the usual hallmarks of a Paper Mario game are here.

My daughter loves it
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was purchased for my daughter. My daughter really likes this game. It seems like a lite RPG for those who may not like some of the more intense RPGs with more mechanics in place. What can I say, Nintendo rarely makes poor in house software.

Typical Nintendo charm— but there’s a catch!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is adorable, charming, funny and polished to the Nth degree. But I think your enjoyment will all come down to whether or not you can appreciate the very unique battle system, which is more like a timed puzzle and less like... well, anything that’s come before. Overall I like it but I’m still not sure I’d ever want to see this battle system again.

Such Fun
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely love this game. Having only played Super Paper Mario for the Wii and skipped a few generations, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this game. Fewer RPG elements made this game better, IMHO.

Greatest Mario Series
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I personally love Paper Mario games. I like a good challenge, a good puzzle, and a long game. So far loving this one. The last great game I played on a Nintendo system was The Thousand Year Door. I missed the immersion in a Mario game. It’s good to be back.

Awesome Game.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not like the original but provides a unique spin in a 3D world. A lot of people have been knocking it, but you can easily binge this for 12 hours straight. A lot of fun, interesting story line, and for those that are completionists — gives you a lot to do post-story.

Great story, Boring Battles
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the story and it kept me entertained till the end. The only problem is every battle begins to feel like a boring chore that you do to get more story. I hope in the future they either do regular turn based battles or even over world fights instead of this weird puzzle stuff.

Really Fun Game!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty typical Mario game from Nintendo - well made, not too hard, and lots of fun. You don't need to have played the original Paper Mario to understand what's happening or the battle system. My favorite part of this game is the art style - everything is so cute!

best paper mario game yet
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son really wanted this game, found it on sale and got it for him. He loves it, it's challenging but fun and he's able to figure out the puzzles for each level. Definitely a good buy for an 8 year old, and my wife enjoys the game too.
