Great until it decided to shut off fall and die

As a first drone purchase, I was very pleased with this set! The FPV headset is very cool, the drone flies very easily and the video is very good. I did notice a rapid reduction in video quality while recording our high school marching band camp as dusk approached. The less sun the more grainy the video. Apparently that is why people buy 4k camera drones. I used the drone several times with no problems until today: Took it up to max height and flew down our neighborhood street just to show someone the view when the phone connected to the controller began losing connection. After the second glitch I tried to bring the drone back but it simply shut itself off and fell to the ground. Now its dead.

This is a very easy to fly, very responsive drone. You can customize the capabilities to your flying style. The camera is great and allows you to fly in first person mode. I would highly recommend this stable drone to those that are interested in breaking into drone flying.

Its a very great drone when you're sick of buying little toy drones. Camera is awesome, not as great as a gopro or dji camera, but way better than those toy drone cameras. Flys precise and easy, really responsive and can go 600+ meters away from you. The video feed when you fly is a great feature when you're far away. Be ready to buy spare parts for this, the plastic frame is frail, can easily crack when you land, propellers are frail also. Parts for the parrot bebop 2 are fairly inexpensive, overall I love this drone and love flying it!!!

    Great Product and Fun

I received the drone for a gift. I had smaller drones as well as the AR 2.0. They collected dust and went the path of eBay. I was apprehensive about this purchase. Not the price but I wanted something fun, but in reality I know at some point this will be a novelty. I have the complete package and so far I don't think it will be a novelty. I purchased extra batteries (Venom) and have used this on pretty windy days. I have not had any issues. I am really enjoying the unit. It is a great middle of the road product. I have raced bikes professionally and enjoy photography as a hobby. Its easy to get caught up in always having something better (which by the way does not make you better). This is small enough to throw in a bag and inexpensive enough for xtra power (35 bucks for batteries). So far I have the stated flight time around 25 minutes with all the batteries. As far as distance I have not full tested but height was pretty close to advertised. I plan on bringing it out on the boat when the season breaks. So far so good. The only problem is transferring data from the unit, if you don't want to use phone or iPad. But its simple enough.

Starter drone for beginner / enthusiast

I purchased my Bebop 2 FPV package in June of 2017. This was my first drone and I was extremely excited to get it up in the air. The bebop 2 is very user friendly regarding it's interface and overall flight controls. This is made even easier with an Xbox style controller that you can mount your cellphone (possibly a small tablet) too. The flight time was also exceptional. I was averaging anywhere between 20 mins and sometimes 23 to 24. The FPV goggles are a nice appeal however the headset felt very cheap I actually had to use my old Iphone 6 in order to use it. My Samsung was too large and would cause the plastic to bulge out. The camera would also occasionally lag and had issues rendering past 100 - 150 feet. While this drone boast's impressive flight range you will have a very hard time actually achieving it. Due to it being a wifi controlled drone you are limited to the signal strength which can be interfered with in most populated areas. In my small town I was able to get about 300 to 400 feet away before I would lost the signal and have to fly back blind. Yikes. The other draw back is the camera. 720p comes out very pix-elated and if you don't have a clear day with bright sun light it's going to be very hard to actually enjoy the fpv. The flight controls are a major plus to this drone. You can opt to increase height of which the max altitude is all the way up to 500 feet. You can also increase flight speed, pitch, ect. This drone can be very quick but it will murder your flight time. All in All it's a fun drone with some drawbacks.

I would have given the Parrot Bebop 2 a 5 star rating, however it has too many problems with it. First off I would like to say that the drone it's self is well made and sturdy. With that said this is what is wrong with the " Package ". 1. The battery in the Skycontroller 2 or the controller it's self is either a discontinued version or they don't make parts for it any more. In example: After multiple emails back and forth proving I do indeed have a " paid for " with receipt Skycontroller, I told them that the battery in the controller was bad. After more emails back and forth they sent me a " replacement " battery.... the wrong size and voltage. Then after more emails back and forth they told me that they would replace the Skycontroller 2 " after " I sent them the one I had. I sent them the controller and was " suppose " to have gotten a new one 10 days later. After more emails back and forth wanting to know where my replacement Skycontroller 2 was, they never sent it. I am still waiting... 2. The Bebop 2 altitude problems - When using their FreeFlight Pro-Flight plan app the drone does indeed fly the flight plan even if you lose WiFi connection with the drone, and it will return home after completing the flight plan. The problem is if you fly the drone into any type of elevation increase during the completion of the flight plan and you programed it to fly at a altitude lower than the elevation it is flying into the drone " will not correct " it's altitude according to elevation changes. 3. WiFi Smartphone link to Bebop 2 - The link between the Bebop 2 and the smart phone has very limited range. I live in the desert and the best range I have gotten thus far is about 250 feet. Why Parrot or any drone manufacturer uses the Smart Phone WiFi frequencies for flight is beyond my understanding. Parrot advertises a maximum range of 1.2 miles for the Bebop 2. I would like to know how they did it when you lose WiFi link with the drone in just a few hindered feet. 4. The drone battery charger - if you have a Bebop 2 may I suggest that you invest in a " balanced " charger for the battery because the charger that comes with it does not balance the battery and thus shortens the battery life. Bottom line: It is sad that Parrot made a great little drone but ruined it by using WiFi and Smartphone links, as well as the " altitude " vs fight app problems. They could do a lot better.

I wanted a drone that was easy to fly. I looked at a few different drones, but the Parrot Bebop 2 had the best reviews. It was easy to fly right out of the box. It has great distance, which is adjustable, and great speed which is also adjustable. I would highly recommend this to anyone not wanting to spend an arm and a leg, or just beginning like me.

Bebop 2 has all the features you want in in your first FPV. Clarity of video as well as photos is good. I didn't like it from portability point of view as the arms don't fold and you have to carry big box to carry it.

    Water Dives

Let me first apologize for the length of this review, but I hope to help others make an informed purchasing decision based on my experience. I have now purchased two Parrot Bebop 2 drones (more on that in a moment). I purchased the first one in November 2017 as a Christmas gift for my father who had recently sufferred a heart attack which required a triple bypass. While the only hobby my father knew was farming and hard work, that was not an option anymore and the family hoped he would take an interest in a new techie device and... IT WORKED! The "boys" in the family spent time training him how to use it, download the videos and play them back on his TV. Mission accomplished! In July 2018, my dad offered to help film footage of his church's dragon boat race and solicited my husband to help as he had helped my dad learn to pilot the drone. As any 70 something would do, he made several practice runs to make sure everything would run smooth for the big day. During the practice runs my father noticed some issues with the drones lack of response while over the pond where the race was to occur. He contacted Parrot and was given some update instructions. My father did all of the required updates and again was ready to go. The day of the event, my husband and father arrived and videoed the construction of the boats. As the initial races began, they piloted the drone to a position to see the action.... over the water. Then, without warning, the drone "landed" itself right in the water. Without warning to the console and despite my husband's (who was piloting) attempts to increase elevation or "return home." Since my husband was piloting when it went down... off to Best Buy I go to immediate replace it. (Hence purchase number two). That would have been the end of the story if I hadn't done some research to see what happened in an attempt to avoid a repeat situation. That is when I found out there is a known issue with "water dives" and the Parrot Bebop 2!!! Here is a link to a blog on the Bebop site that discusses multiple experiences identical to my fathers. https://community.parrot.com/t5/Bebop-2/Bebop-2-lost-control-and-flew-into-the-Water/td-p/125852 That began our discussions with Bebop's customer service, or lack therof. My father contacted them with the details of his specific story. As expected of any company, they requested receipts for purchase and additional details available from the last flight (coordinates, elevation, battery life, etc.) All of these were reasonable requests. The first reason they denied the claim was because we could not provide an "appropriate" receipt from Best Buy. This is where I will give Best Buy a shout out.... the original Bebop was an internet purchase that was delivered to my home. Clearly, I did not receive a traditional register receipt. I was able to obtain my receipt online from Best Buy and the UPS delivery confirmation and we submitted that to Bebop. When those were unacceptable proofs of purchase I called Best Buy who told me that is the only receipt available for an internet order, but they would be more than happy to talk to Bebop and tell them that. Go Best Buy! So... now Parrot moves on to deny the claim because there was approximately 53% battery power left. However, the drone has a built in function to "return home" when the battery life is critically low. The drone was 50 feet from the pond's shore and approximately 150 feet from "home" (a/k/a the pilot) when it gently landed itself in the pond. Clearly we believe Parrot is simply trying to avoid standing behind its product after issues arose from a known flaw. The drone was amazing over land. The videos were amazing and it was very responsive to pilot directions. HOWEVER, if you plan to pilot this drone over a body of water of any kind, you want to attach some water wings! Do your research! The Parrot Bebop 2 has an issue with flights over water. Your investment, like mine, could sink like a rock!

    Reminder of Parrot Business

    Posted .

Last year after Black Friday, and without any warning or notice, Parrot released the Bebop 2. What this essentially broke down into was that the purchases made on the busiest shopping day of year were to be outdated before Christmas. In addition, and you can search their own forums for proof of this information, the Bebop 1 was plagued by "rouge GPS" issues that would cause your $500 toy/investment to fly off "autonomously" never to be seen again. Parrot was well aware of the defects in the first generation but refused to allow those to get an upgrade to bebop 2, even if the consumer offered to pay the difference between the two units, and instead insisted on continuing to send out the faultly 1.0 units. You can take this as a bitter customer complain but also keep in mind that when you make a purchase of this monetary scale, like for the next generation cellphone, you know months in advance when the new upgraded models are coming.

    Avoid Water

Had my drone for a couple months and flew it out a half a dozen times. Works great and is fun. Learned the hard way that something with the drone does not like water. Previous reviews said the same thing so it can't be just mine. I took it to the mountains in Salt Fork, WV and wanted to fly it off the overlook and get a picture of the falls. I launched it and flew it for a minute in front of me to self orient before flying it through the trees. I was good to go and flew it out over the river and it started acting crazy. The drone would not respond to the skycontroller and started to plummet to the river. I watched as the video went black when it took a dive. I contacted Parrot about the problem and they said in a shorter version, not our problem. I sent them the receipt, pictures of everything I had, and they came back with the same thing said on other reviews. Unless you have 100% battery life and can prove the GPS signal was 100% when it malfunctions it's not their problem. So in short if you buy one, which I will have to go buy another at full price, AVOID FLYING OVER WATER.

DO NOT BUY!!! App errors are breaking...

Purchased this for my daughter for Christmas 12/18/2018. The drone was great at first. On Jan 14th 2019 there was an update to the drone AND app (that is needed to control the drone). Jan 30th 2019 we took the drone out into our yard (we live in the country nothing around but trees). The drone connected fine and took off straight up about 30ft. When the drone started to pan around the controller/app disconnected from the drone, making the drone take off uncontrolled straight into a tree breaking it into 4 pieces and destroying the battery. I called tech support (Jan 30th) in which they admitted a problem with the app/controller and they are working on a "fix". I was informed the drone was under warranty and would be fixed or replaced with no charge due to app/controller failure. I waited for a few weeks in which they kept claiming the flight data was "MISSING"...hmmm... every flight was there since we purchased it but THIS ONE.... HMMMMM.... 2/06/19 I haven't heard anything from anyone for 6 days... I called tech support for the third time and was informed they "FOUND" my missing data and denied the warranty because the drone struck a tree... while it was disconnect from the app/controller in which they admitted having found faulty. I informed them this was not my fault due to the controller/app was disconnect after the drone was 30ft in the air just HOVERING. They resubmitted it again... 2/11/19 DENIED again... "We understand our App/Controller is faulty but it is user error and we will not issue your warranty repair". WHAT??? Your app/controller is at fault... you admit its at fault ... but wont support your own product? Do NOT buy from PARROT!!!

I bought this drone and on the first flight one of the propellers flew off during takeoff. I figured it was my mistake, so I reinstalled all the propellers and ensured their proper installlation. The drone took off and at about 100ft in the air the propellor fell off again. It came plummeting to the ground and suffered fatal damage. When I contacted customer support, they told me that they can do nothing because I hadn’t updated the software. As if the software would have fixed the blatantly obvious hardware failure. I asked for clarification and they said it isn’t a known problem. Poor design and even worse customer service makes this a no buy.

Drone disconnected mid flight and motor stalled causing the drone to disappear from my sight as it flew away from me. I have done everything in my power to get Parrot to help me with a replacement for an obvious defect(even included a screenshot of my error) but they have turned out to be useless. Parrot.com will not let you review their customer service(kind of makes you think they are aware of how terrible it is). It has been over a month since this whole ordeal started and I have gotten nowhere with them. They DO NOT support their products. Waste of money and time thus far. Customer service is an important part of any business and unfortunately they lack it in a big way. DO NOT TRUST OR BUY!

    Avoid This Drone

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Where do I start... The distance with the sky controller says 1.2 miles or around 2,000 meters. The drone kept losing connection at 300-400 meters. When this happens the drone returns home. However, if there is an obstacle in the way, it will fly right into it. Yes you read that correctly. The 14mp camera is more like 2mp, the 1080p video is atrocious, and grainy. The storage is limited to a miniscule 8gb roughly. If you're looking for a drone that loses connection even within the claimed range, this is it for you. If you want an actual drone, steer clear. The FPV goggles are horrible. It uses your phone, so you better have a smaller phone to fit inside. There isn't any adjustment for focal points, so hopefully your eyes are perfectly matched to the goggles poor feed. It lags. As in you can turn the drone, and the feed doesn't catch up right away.
