Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Pavilion Desktop's performance, ease of use, and affordability. Many appreciate its ample storage and compact size, finding it easy to set up and use. While some users mentioned a desire for more USB ports and expressed mixed feelings about the operating system, the positive feedback on performance and value outweighs these concerns. The included memory and hard drive were generally considered sufficient for most users' needs.

Very good specs for the money. Set up is easy and it is very fast out of the box.. I had everything connected when I Initially turned it on. It automatically down loaded the printer program and installed it. My wife loves it. Web surfing and printing is a breeze.

    Terrible - Super Slow

I have to say this is far and away the worst computer I have ever used. It is slower than the one I bought in 2008 for less money. It was recommended by the staff at Best Buy but if I could return this, I would. I am not a gamer and just use the computer for simple processing and internet searching.

This computer is absolutely NOT what I expected it to be. It's slow, constantly lags no matter what you do, and I didn't even install any software on it, so it only has on it what it came with.

Purchased this product as a Christmas gift. It was making weird vibrating noises out of the box! Did not function properly. Had to return it and the second one is perfect. Best Buy was great about exchanging it.

    Good basic desktop

Got this for a family member to replace a 8 yr old desktop. When I saw the recent sale on this desktop, I knew that with a few upgrades, this would be a perfect machine for someone who surfs the web, watches you tube, facebook, etc. After doing some research, I upgraded the desktop with 16 GB of PNY DDR4 2400 ram and a San Disk SSD. My research showed that with upgrading this desktop, it would be necessary to enter the bios to turn off secure boot and switch to legacy boot. I did this, then performed the upgrades. I then installed Windows 10 without incident. The desktop boots up very fast, and is very snappy with this combo. You could put in a power supply if you wanted to add a discrete video card; if you do add a video card it will need to be short length one. You could also add a m.2 Nvme ssd as there is a slot for that and the necessary screw is included. As my family member isn't a gamer, this wasn't necessary in this situation. I just wish that they would sell this with a base of 8 GB of ram instead of 4 GB.

Maybe I Got a Bad Unit

    Posted .

First off, I strongly suspect I might have gotten a bad unit. I've bought budget-priced PCs before, but they've always been snappy and responsive out of the box. The one I got was ssssssslow. With absolutely no programs running after a fresh restart, I'd click Windows Explorer just to browse files, and it would take four seconds before it popped up and was accessible for clicks. The cursor would turn into that little blue circle (where you couldn't click on anything) constantly. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt, assuming that perhaps the OS was indexing everything and perhaps updating itself, but after 24 hours it was still just as slow, so I returned it. Life is to short to call Customer Service on something I just bought. I ended up buying a Lenovo desktop with a similar processor but with three times the RAM, and I've been happy ever since. My rating of three stars is giving the product the benefit of the doubt; I'm assuming I had a bad unit. If ALL of them perform this way, then it's seriously a one star desktop.

A real bargain at the sale price

If you don't need a high powered PC for gaming and just use it for basic work and web browsing, this is a great machine especially at the $299 sale price I got it for. Fast processor with plenty of storage and enough USB ports for most everything. Would have liked to have had additional RAM, but haven't quite exceeded the capacity yet. Windows 10 Pro would have been nice, but not absolutely needed and a lot of expect at this level. Have noticed some reviewers commenting on the slow speed of the machine and what they expected out of the box. With Windows 10, especially the Home version with auto downloads you can't really control, it's a challenge to get speed until ALL of the W10 and HP updates get caught up. It was several days before it was done with all of them and you are maxing out a lot of capability of the machine with some of the W10 updates, especially the seasonal major versions. It also doesn't warn you that it's looking for and downloading updates in the background which will unexpectedly slow the machine down. Once all caught up, the PC works great for everyday use. The only thing slowing this machine down is keeping up with all of the W10 updates. Great buy for a basic desktop!

This is by no means a power house or gaming rig but is a great computer. The only thing I would highly recommend is upgrading the RAM to 2x8GB for a total of 16GB. Reason: if you're using the built in graphics card it uses system memory and 4GB in general feels a little slugish. 12GB would be sufficient too. If you are using it for no games, adding 4GB will do

    Broken out of the box

Bought this HP desktop on 1/3/17 and the front usb port doesn't work. Did a system diagnostic on it and it failed numerous times. Contacted HP support and they said Yep, its broken. This computer comes with so much unnecessary apps loaded on it no wonder why it's SOOO SLOW and with only 4gb ram. Inquired what's the price for another 4gb stick.....$175.00. Windows 10 really sucks too,so different than other windows OS., it's like learning windows all over again. Also was never offered the one "free" item, 6 months virus protection. Returning this broken computer and sticking with my older one, mainly due to Windows 7 is the best and SO EASY.

Not very happy :( VERY SLOW from the start

I'm 50 and hubby is 56 years young. We use our computers daily as i work from home (online) and we use it to keep in touch with distant family. We usually purchase HP products but 2 years ago i bought a Lenavo deskttop which just after 1 year, it quit working on me so we went to Best Buy and after doing some research, talking with the rep, we chose this computer the HP Pavillion 570-p0954. Since the start up, (3 months ago) it has been slow and sometimes just freezes for no reason. A week after i bought it, i contacted Geek Squad (as i have the expensive 2 year plan) and they spent 2 hours on my computer but i still have the same issues. Just frustrated with it. Sometimes it's fast and then all of a sudden, it freezes and takes forever to load a web page. I've clocked our internet speeds at over 200mbs download and 15 upload with a 15 ping so it's not our internet. My husband's computer is about 10 feet from mine and he can do his banking, check emails before my web page even loads! Very angry and disappointed. I know i'll be having to buy another PC cause i can't handle this thing. UGGG>

Spoiled by an outdated WiFi Card

This computer comes with a Realtek one channel WiFi card that limits downloads to 10 Mb, less than half what all my older computers get. I am buying a new card for 25 bucks, but why should I need to do that in 2018? Do not buy this computer. Make HP up their game.

This unit did not work out of the box! Plugged it in and wouldn't start. Returned to store. But will buy another of same model. Not the fault of Best Buy. I still have faith in them.

Slowest computer I have ever owned. I am totally shocked that a Core I-3 is slower than my old AMD Processor. Can't say if this is standard or if I got a lemon
