Good Laptop but HP did not help...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop a couple weeks ago (on sale by $349) to replace my old Acer Aspire One from 2012. I use this computer basically for internet browsing, e-mail and to watch movies. I wanted a good CPU (the Pentium N5000 is good for basic tasks) but I wanted to upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 8GB and replace the HD by a SSD. With these improvements this laptop is really good, fast and responsive. The problem is that HP designed this machine to make impossible for the average user to replace any of these. You have to have experience to do this job and some tools. I have many years working with computers and even though it took me a while and some study. For example to replace the HD by the SSD I had to remove the keyboard and remove the battery before replacing the Toshiba 500GB HD by an ADATA 480GB SSD (that was before in my Acer). For the RAM upgrade it was even more difficult, I had to remove the keyboard, remove the battery, remove the speakers, remove the motherboard and only then I had access to the memory module. I confirm that there is just one memory slot in this machine and the memory module is replaceable, in my case it came with a 4GB Samsung DDR4 2400 module, which I replaced it by a G.SKILL Ripjaws 8GB 260-Pin DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Model F4-2400C16S-8GRS. It works perfect. Now the machine boots in less than 15 seconds and every tasks is smooth and very responsive, no complaints even with several applications running at the same time, and of course I uninstalled all the crapware that comes with it and was consuming CPU cycles and chunks of the memory. About other aspects of this machine: Battery is average (6 hours), screen is bright and good, trackpad decent , the B&O speakers and sound is great. I give it 3 stars because HP really did a bad job designing this machine not allowing regular people to replace these parts easily. If you don't have the skill you can find any of these computer repair shops or even Geek Squad that they will charge you around $100 for the service, plus you have to buy the SSD (around $75) and 8GB Memory module (around $50). In my case I had the parts and I had the skill, so it was a good deal to buy this laptop.

You get what you pay for
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased my HP Pavilion 360 on May 27, 2018 at Best Buy. It worked fine up until the third week of November. I have called HP customer support for 3 weeks in a row. The first 2 weeks the screen and cursor would randomly freeze. The first time I was advised to add McAfee as it may be a virus. This cost me $79.99 - but I did it! The following week, the second time, the screen and cursor would freeze again and everything was moving slowly. The technician cleaned out everything he could and called the next day to make sure it was running ok. It was at that time. This technician told me to call the same number if the issue persist and they would have to wipe the computer and do a reset. He told me to get a thumb drive to save my documents as a back up. I did this and saved everything. Through out this past week, I struggled with the slowness of the computer. Finally, on Friday Dec 7, 2018, the computer was running so slowly it took minutes to access websites and even longer to open a PDF. I contacted the HP phone number I was given by the first 2 technicians. The call was answered about 35 minutes later and I explained the situation. The technician told me he had to send me to another department. I was transferred to Susan. Susan told me that I only had to purchase a subscription to HP for $49 + $14.99 per month for the next year for her to help me. I could not believe it, the computer is only a few months old and now I have to pay additional just to use it. I told her the first 2 times I called in and the technician was able to clean things up and it worked... for a few days. But she was telling me that in order for her to "fix" my new computer I had to pay additional. I asked if I could cancel at any time, but she said it was for a year and it would be an additional charge of $70 to cancel. I was very polite and explained that I didn't spend very much for the computer and I was not going to pay and additional $200 just to be able to use it. She said that it was a bargain because anyone else would charge $100 to fix it. I told her I was not going to pay anything more for this computer, and that I would rather put that money toward the purchase a new computer and, at this point, definitely not an HP. At that time she hung up the phone on me. Thanks for all of your help HP..... I'm going to go spend a whole lot of money and buy a Mac and never have this problem again.

Great for School
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this a week ago for school and I haven't had a single issue yet. At first, the touchscreen had slow response when sitting in the regular way with the keyboard out, but I believe that was also because I was getting use to it. The battery life is amazing and it is so light to carry around in my backpack. Very quick to switch from tablet to PC. Only thing I dislike is the small amount of space between the screen and edge on the sides. If I grab the side to fold the laptop, I sometimes touch random things on the screen but you just have to get used to placing your hands in the correct places like at top, so you don't have any issues.

GREAT when....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is utterly amazing but you need to work with it to get it there. Like many of the reviews, my laptop was slow and incredibly frustrating to work with. Pretty much what everyone was saying, "You get what you pay for". BUT I did some research and one of the reviews said to delete the extra crap that comes with the laptop such as Mcafee and skype. (I myself deleted a bunch of things which needed to restart the computer multiple times.) After I did this, the computer drastically improved. It starts up faster than my mom's macbook pro (2017) and it is now one of the fastest computers I have ever owned. I will say, that I encounter hardware problems when I was deleting stuff. But it was just my touchpad it wasn't anything super important. This was fixed though when I reached out to HP support and they fixed my computer in 10 minutes. My computer is now awesome and amazing and literally almost everything I wanted (the battery last for 6 hours which is okay).

He is how to optimize your HP laptop for speed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this computer in December, 2018. I did so without reading any review. I was disappointed when I read that so many people said it was slow. I initially experience the same thing and considered returning it, but was not going to give up so quickly Here is how I got it to operate lightening quick. HP install a ton a unnecessary program AMazone, Flex, Skype, ect). Uninstall all of them! Especially McAfee - it is horrible and slows everything down. Once McAfee is uninstalled, activate Windows Defender - it is a Microsoft program that is optimized to work with Windows. It is installed on your computer and just needs to be turned on. Next, look for Window 10 updates. I found 3 urgent updates were required. Update all. Next, visit HP support and look for updates from HP. Install all of them. You would think that I brand new computer would not need all these things. I am extremely happy with the computer now! I have a BS in Computer Science, but not sure how the average person would know that all these things were required.
