For a first attempt the pebble smart watch is a great start. It has great battery life, easy viewablility under direct sunlight, waterproof , and has an App Store! I've used it with my iPhone 5s for around a month now and it has changed how I use my phone. It's nice to be able to simply see the notification on my wrist and decide whether or not I need to respond to it. Some things I don't like is that it's a monochrome display, which is great on battery life but looks like ancient technology next to galaxy gear 2. Another gripe I have is the limit on how I can respond to notifications on it. This is mostly an issue with ios than the watch though. The watch is a bit pricy too. Over all I enjoy the experience of having a smart watch and being able to see notifications, have volume controls, and various other things on my wrist but with the way other companies are focusing on wearables id say the best thing is to waiting few months and see what comes out.

Since I got a Cub Scout watch at eight years old, I've had a watch on my wrist constantly. Not only do I like to have the time a glance a way, I've always had a fascination with "gadgety" watches. I'm a late-comer for most gadgets, but with watches I've always wanted the latest toy. I was the first person I knew to have a digital watch, then the first to switch from LED two-handed watches to LCD. I've owned watches with built-in compasses, watches that synchronized with the atomic clock in Fort Collins, chronometers with too many dials to fit comfortably, and anything else that's come down the pike.
When smart watches became "a thing", however, I decided to hold out for the next generation. I knew that they would ultimately improve, and didn't want to jump on the first wave, only to be disappointed when everything else passed me by. I kept an eye on articles, reviews, etc. Interestingly, when it came down to comparisons, the humble Pebble - the one that first made smart watches a viable commodity - was constantly rated favorably in many categories against its newer and more expensive competitors. All the new stuff coming out was flashier, but didn't add any features I wanted; combine that with shorter battery life, and it's pretty much a no-sale for me.
Meanwhile, the Pebble kept coming down in price. When Best Buy had a sale, I couldn't resist. I had fun playing with this new toy, but after the newness of it faded, I found myself with an incredibly useful device that literally has made a small, but significant, change in my daily life.
I generally keep my phone in a holster on my belt. When it rings, the tone tells me what kind of notification it is (text, voice message, email, etc.) and sometimes who it's from, but nothing else to tell me whether it's important enough to pull the phone out and take a look. In the winter, when I'm driving and my phone is strapped beneath a heavy jacket, which in turn is strapped down by a seat belt, twisting and reaching to retrieve and view the phone is not only inconvenient, it's potentially dangerous. With my Pebble, I just take a quick look at my wrist and I can gauge the importance of the incoming notification. If it warrants further action, I can pull over and take appropriate action.
I recently went on a business trip. Most of the time I was in meetings or working sessions with my customer. In such a case, I feel that constantly checking my phone is a sign to the people paying by the hour for my time that I'm not focusing on their needs. However, when I get a little vibration on my wrist, a quick glance at my watch is hardly noticed, and doesn't distract from the conversation in progress, even if I'm the one speaking at the time. If a notification appears to be important (e.g.: the airline telling me that my flight has been delayed and that I'll miss my connection home, which did happen during this trip), it's easy to wait for an appropriate break in the action and deal with it accordingly.
And hey, the watch geek in me enjoyed it when we were at lunch and I could show off the geeky features.
At this point I can't imagine having a smart phone without a smart watch. If you're on the fence, just go out and get this little beauty. Maybe something better is around the corner, and maybe not, but you might as well start taking advantage of this useful (and incredibly cool) technology.

Pebble Smart Watch not ready for prime time

!!BUYER BEWARE!! It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of the Pebble Smart Watch retail launch, like I did. But I quickly found out this product is not ready for mass market. I picked up my Pebble smart watch from Best Buy yesterday after ordering online for store pickup. The install initially seemed easy enough (I have an iPhone 4S). The first few bumps were downloading some watch faces from online to install. For some reason, the bluetooth connection to the Pebble wouldn't stay on consistently. After downloading 3 faces, I had to disconnect bluetooth then reconnect to download others. Then I decided to give it a test with the RunKeeper app and a light jog. About 8 minutes into the run, I noticed the watch display froze. When I tapped a button, I saw the Pebble's screen wasn't refreshing. And then pixellated lines started to appear. What resulted was the dead screen you see in the picture attached. Today, less than a day after owning the Pebble, the screen is completely blank. After looking through online support and trying multiple ways to reset it or bring the screen back, nothing would work. While researching the problem, I saw that there really are many issues with the Pebble - something that was really alarming (besides a lot of disgruntled Kickstarter backers). I really wanted to back up a fresh tech company and be an early adopter. Unfortunately it looks Pebble is trying to jump the gun on other smart watches at retail stores and have ended up bringing a glitchy product to mass market. Good luck with your Pebble (I highly recommend getting Best Buy's extended service plan from if you are still considering the leap - because it sounds like the Pebble will fail eventually). I'm returning mine today and waiting for other smart watch options.

I finally decided to jump on the smartwatch craze. Though there are many choices now; it is my understanding that pebble was the 1st. At its core it is very basic. That's not to say that's a bad thing. What I really appreciate is the long battery life (up to 7 days). Answering calls (own Bluetooth needed) to reading notifications and text msgs are all I need at the moment. This watch fills that role. Eventually I'll move on to Apple watch or another brand in the future; assuming battery life is on point.

With the Apple watch coming out soon, I decided to try this more basic and customizable smart watch. Though it has the occasional issue connecting to my phone, it is very helpful because I hardly miss messages or phone calls anymore. It's always fun meeting someone out in public who knows about pebbles too!

This smart watch is great. It alerts you when you get a text or phone call and its easy to operate. If you want to you can customize your watch by downloading different watch faces and there are many to pick from. I would recommend this watch.

I like the watch for the price. Some of the apps are not great, but most are pretty good. I just like the time being automatically adjusted by my smartphone, and being notified when I get a call or text.

I love this watch. It's so nice to not have to have my phone in hand 24/7. I can leave the phone on a table and walk all over my house/office and still know when I am getting calls and text messages. It makes it nice to see who is calling and if I want to talk I can walk back to the phone.
The battery usually last about 5 days and only takes a couple of hours to charge.
The only thing I wished it had was a heart rate monitor.

I bought my Pebble Smart watch couple days ago and I love it. This watch is helping me at my work where I can't have visible my phone. Bestbuy did a good job sending my watch on time and at the right price. I bought also bestbuy warranty but I did not have any papers or registration. I rate 4 start because I do not have the bestbuy insurance paperwork or documentation.

This is a decent watch for the price. It was a little difficult to initially setup due to it needing an upgrade out-of-the box. Aside from that, it has been a nice product. The battery lasts close to 7 days. It is very easy to read in bright sunlight. The buttons are easy to access. It also has a large quantity of apps available. I use it with an iPhone 6. Some of the apps I've found to be more useful are those that display my Starbucks card barcode so I can pay via my watch in the drive-thru, MakeFit fitness app that reads my BPM from my HRM and displays it and other stats on my watch during my workouts. And... of course the watch faces. There are many to choose from (digital, analog, graphical). Some display the weather. All-in-all, this is a good value for the money.

Great for notifications, controlling your music, and there are some great apps. Easy to use. Was content to using it only as a watch, but it does so much more. Got mines for less than $100 so it was a no brainer. A must for tech junkies...

My first Pebble screen went bad the store I purchased it didn't have anymore they fully refunded me. I saw the Moto 360 reduced in price in a Best Buy ad thought I'd try it I was frustrated with the lack of battery didn't make it thru my normal day with lite use. Took it back to Best Buy got another Pebble that was about 1/2 the price. I'm happy with the Pebble can be used with Android or its competition its more durable than the others even ones with gorilla glass can swim & shower with it. With this type screen its easy to read in sunlight. I wish they had the speakers & microphone so you could actually use it like a phone but its good even without that. I'll keep using my Pebble.

I was looking for an reliable, inexpensive smart watch that would work with my iPhone 6. This does everything I need it to do. All of my phone calls, emails, texts, and twitter feed shows up on the watch. I know it is capable of much more, but, I am keeping it simple for now. Oh, all of the different watch faces are great, too. I like the weather channel watch face - time and current weather/temp! I would recommend this watch.

I needed this watch for nursing, too much to do, and too little time. The ability to leave the phone on silent in my bag, yet receive and make short replies via the watch made a lot of sense. I also really enjoy some of the applications for my professions the watch supports. Makes Blood pressure taking a breeze. The only thing that I was not too thrilled about was the rather cheap watch band. It works well, but I found that many other watch bands were quite a bit more comfortable. That said any 22mm standard watch band fits and for 10 dollars more I was exceedingly pleased with my new fun functional watch.

I love the pebble. It comes in at a great price for everything that it does. I so wish the app store were more developed and that it did a better job as a sleep tracker. But for under $100 its amazing. I really recommend a screen protector for it.

I lIle the fact that it is easy to use and it's definitely and eye catcher. People can't help bit notice my watch (maybe because its red), but when I tell them it's a smartwatch connected to my phone, they become very intrigued. It has definitely helped me save battery because I'm not looking at my phone screen as much. I primarily use it to glance at messages and control my music while driving. As more apps are developed, more functionality is added. And the fact that it is waterproof is big. Battery life is pretty good. It says 5-7 days, but I haven't tested that yet.
