How a watch can save your life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have you ever had your phone ring and not be able to reach it in your purse/briefcase/messenger bag, and you risk your life trying to find it just to find out it was a salesman/robocall/person-you-are-trying-to-avoid? Well, with this watch, you can find out who is calling and decide if you want to before you go looking for your phone. It won't answer the call, but it does show you who is calling. That was just my first use of the watch! I cannot tell you how nice it is not to be tethered to your phone and always looking at it to find out when that important email arrives. A quick buzz lets me know when I have an email message or text, and can even preview the first couple of lines. The battery life is amazing! I only have to charge my watch about once or twice a week. The only time I used more battery is with the fitness apps - and I decided that as much as I like my watch, I don't want to sleep or exercise with it. I am an iPhone user, and have had no problems with the apps on the phone working with the watch. While I know the iWatch is supposed to be 'better', it's hard to beat the Pebble for the price AND the fact that it has already had its first major software upgrade. I'm all about the leading of technology, but I don't want to be on the bleeding edge.

Great starter smartwatch!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this for our daughter for her birthday. She loves it and it is extremely user friendly! You control what goes on your watch through your phone... from their app, you can customize the watch faces, download games, apps, etc. There is also a website that you can go to, to create your own watch face! That appealed to my daughter because she loves putting Pikachu and Pokemon as her background. The e-ink display makes it easy to read out in the sun. The pebble is definitely a fun notification watch! It is also more affordable than some other watches. Even if you get a swatch or baby-g, it could end up being more expensive. For us, this was definitely the way to go, and our daughter loved it. Win-win situation!!

Works as advertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very excited to try the Pebble Smart Watch. My first few trips to Best Buy were unsucessful as the employees had no idea what a "Pebble Smart Watch" was. On my second trip to purchase, I had to ask 4 different sales people only to find out they were locked up and only had the red one (I really didn't want a red watch). Finally got the black one on trip number 3 (and they were finally on the shelf with the "heart rate monitors").. Anyway, I have had my Pebble for about 3 months now. Despite the reviews with people experiencing failures, mine worked out of the box and on the first try. I have used it with two different phones (Galaxy III and Nexus 5) and have never had a problem connecting. I have downloaded a few of the 3rd party apps and managed to use them successfully (Notifier, and Glance). I also jumped in a hot tub and a pool with it and it IS waterproof. I typically get 3-4 days out of one charge and I have my Tuesday/Friday routine down now so it's not so bad. To make this a 5 star review (for me) I would like to see the ability to increase the font size (My eyes are getting old...er) and I would like longer battery life, wireless charging and better interaction with the phone without having to go through a 3rd party app. Bottom line... I got a good one and it works for me. I would buy it again if I lost it tomorrow. Looking forward to 2nd gen. Hope this helps someone else.

Great product for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this watch! It does as promised. I own a business, and sometimes I get business calls and texts on my phone. My phone is usually in my desk, so it is a pain, to run from one end of the salon to the other, to answer the phone, only to see that the call isn't really important. I tried to find reasons why I didn't need this watch, but there were more reasons I needed this watch. While I am taking care of my clients, I can turn my phone ringer off remotely, and just receive call, texts, and email alerts through my pebble, and decide which calls to take. It's water proof, so I can keep it on while I'm shampooing a client. It's one of the reasons I decided against the galaxy gear, it had a camera in the band, so it is not water proof and I don't need a watch to take pictures, not to mention it only works with galaxy note 3 and had no email notifications. Can the Pebble be improved, yes and I believe it will, probably by the next version. Right now, the watch is comfortable to wear and very low profiled. As and added bonus, I can control the music on my phone. Sometimes I like to plug my phone into the stereo system at my salon via headphone jack, and it it's great to be able to control the music, and get call, and text alerts from anywhere in the salon. I truly get my money's worth from my Pebble, just this past Monday I had a class and two business meetings, so phone ringers off, and I was still able to handle my online business via alerts from my Pebble. If I got an important phone call, I could step out for a moment to answer the call, it's great not having to pull my phone out of my purse or pocket every time it vibrates. I paired my Pebble with my HTC One.

Exciting Watch with Endless Possibilities
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Pebble Smartwatch is a product that bring new exciting ideas and possibilities to the table. With push notifications, caller ID and music controls, one can't help but feel like you are ahead of the times with such advanced technology on your wrist. Personalizing the Pebble is very easy one you read a few guides on the product website. Unfortunately, even with those who are more technologically inclined figuring this out without instructions is quite the challenge. Adding apps and watchfaces does require a bit of reading up for the know-how. But once you pick it up it easy to get going. One major issue is that notifications for apps like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are currently limited for users running iOS6, limiting the full potential of the watch. However, iOS7 offers full support on notifications of any app with the watch. So for all you iOS7 beta testers, this is a must have. If you have iOS6 and you don't mind waiting for the update, it is still pretty cool to use and I would recommend it. If you have Android and don't already have a Pebble Smartwatch I have no idea what you are waiting for because Android is the only OS it works flawlessly right out of the box with full notification support and controlls via the required app for this appcessory. Very awesome watch, can't wait to see what other apps and functions will be added down the road.

Best smartwatch for battery life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have both a Pebble and a Moto 360, and have used both extensively. While the Moto 360 has a great design and integrates well with Android, Pebble has unbeatable battery life and works equally well with iOS and Android. If you want a smartwatch that just works, this is the one.

Pointless is you always have your phone on you
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its a coo idea and, I'm sure, will improve with technology, but this watch is pointless if you always have your phone on you. All it does is tell you when you're getting a call or text, and pushes your notifications to your wrist. Coo idea, but rather pointless.

Highly functional, but feels outdated
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned my #pebble #smartwatch yesterday. There are certain things I really liked about it: + I could see who's calling without taking the phone out of my pocket. + I could control music playback remotely + With "Pebble Notifier" on Android, I could get alerts from any app. + With "Glance for Pebble", I could get weather and calendar info easily, and also assign Tasker tasks to the watch buttons. + With the Canvas app, I was able to make my own custom watchface in minutes. But all that was outweighed by the negatives for me: - The watch was too big and thick to fit under my shirt sleeve like any normal watch. - The buttons are a pain to press. Wish it had touchscreen controls instead. - Given the lack of a color screen coupled with the bulk, I felt like I was wearing old technology, not cutting edge. I'm hoping sleeker, slimmer, touchscreen smartwatches will be out soon. So goodbye, Pebble.

Useful tool for your smartphone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very interested in a companion to my smartphone that gives me notications and brief glimpses at messages as they come in. The G.Gear was too expensive and too delicate. I was afraid to get it wet and use it at work for fear of damaging a $300 watch! This Pebble Watch, at $150, is within my price range not only for purchase but for self insuring in the untimely event of an nasty incident. It's not a personal computer nor a Dick Tracy watch so you won't be talking to it, but it does allow for viewing incoming calls, rejecting them, also controlling your music, viewing messages, and yes, even telling time. Apps are slowly starting to become available and should be plentiful as it gains popularity.

Works great with iPhone 5s
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been following the smart watch market for the past year trying to figure out which unit to purchase. Originally I wanted a smart watch that would "do it all". However, then I realized that there were a lot of tradeoffs to get all that such as size, battery life, complexity, price. After thinking about the problem I was trying to solve, I quickly realized that I didn't need a smart watch that does it all. I typically carry my iPhone in my pocket which works good most of the time, however when my hands are dirty or wet or carrying something, it's hard to check the phone when it's buzzing. Several times over the holidays I was helping with cooking and dishes then, as luck would have it, the phone would buzz. Was it something important or just a news alert? I would not know until I finished what I was doing. Then it occurred to me that this is what I need a smart watch for: being able to see notifications of all sorts without constantly having to pull the phone out of my pocket every time. Sure, I still need to pull the phone out to reply, but I wouldn't want to type the message on a watch display anyway. The advantage is now I know when I need to pull the phone out and reply. Plus the watch is very discrete for looking at texts while in meetings are work. Let's face it, outside of showing off, I don't think I'd really ever use a watch with a speaker phone built in. I had worried that the watch was going to be overly cheap and plastic-y but it really is pretty nice. The display has held up nicely though I still may get some kind of screen protector for it. The watch band that comes with it is very basic but functional. Down the road I may replace it with something nicer. I purchased the pebble while is was on sale for $119. For this price, it's a great value. I think $149 is a little high for it, on the other hand if you just paid $300 or more for a smart phone then you may be able to splurg on the $30 to purchase a pebble when it's not on sale. The notifications have been consistent. I downloaded SmartWatch + off the App Store so the pebble displays the weather, next appointment, and iphone battery status along with the time. This has also worked great. I am looking forward to the 2.0 version of the firmware to see what new things come out. Overall, before purchasing a smart watch, think about the problem you really want to solve. Most smart watches are not as functional as you smart phone and the small screens are hard to work with. What I really decided I needed was a remote display to show notifications and this product fits the bill.

Fantastic product! Can't wait for the next one!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since this is essentially the first smart watch to get it right one needs to be more a little more lenient on reviewing it... but even when compared with everything else currently on the market this watch tops them all. What's great about this watch is that it allows you to receive essentially any form of communication your phone receives and discreetly. I get my emails, text messages, IMs from Facebook, twitter messages and of course it alerts me when my phone rings. That is just the core feature out of the box. Aside from that you can also control the FWD Play/Pause REW for the music app on your phone (I personally have an iPhone 5S) and are able to see the artist and song playing. If it were possible to get a little more in depth like pulling up playlists and such it would be nicer but that's the great thing about smart devices... someone can always write that into the software in the future. The newly released App Store for Pebble is an amazing start. I've already downloaded clock faces that have all the daily info I am looking for; weather, date, day battery life and if I'm still connected to my phone. The apps so far are pretty good and I hope in time they get even better. Runkeeper surprised me the most as it's not an app on the watch itself but the app on your phone actually activates your watch and begins to keep your time/distance the second you start the app. That means it doesn't take up one of your precious 8 app/watchface slots on your watch! This is also the first digital watch I've ever owned that is water proof... not that I've owned many watches in my time but the only ones I ever had as a kid were cheap casios and calculator watches that would die when wet. All my "nice" watches were always analog but waterproof and heavy. The weight of this watch feels as if you're not wearing one at all. I've become so used to heavy watches that were burdensome this was like a breath of fresh air and light as a feather on my wrist. Battery life is about 10% usage a day so it easily lasts a week and up to even a week and a half. Charging is relatively fast as about 2 hours gives it a full charge from empty. The Pebble tops everything else on the market right now in terms of price and usability. It's a great little discreet tool that alerts you on events going on with your phone. Be it scheduled meetings, calls or email/messages. I pretty much leave my phone on silent now cause the watch can discreetly tell me what's going on and if it's urgent I get to it right away or if it's just a spam email. Things they could improve for the next version would be make it better looking (A plastic version of the steel build would be nice), more save slots for apps, built in health monitor, ability to respond to texts (even if they are just generic canned responses like "Call you later") and more in depth music app integration. But As a first generation product this is fantastic and I can't wait for the next version to come out... or even the next firmware update!

SO Much BANG for BUCK!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While I haven't had this watch for more than a day, I am already THRILLED with the product! I have been searching for a smart watch/fitness tracker for some time now. After much research and a careful cost vs. feature comparison, I came out with this Pebble Smartwatch. It does everything I wanted that I liked from FitBit products AND adds the notifications I wanted! I bike 5 miles to and from the office, so my phone was always in my backpack. I was tired of missing important client calls and emails, and this solved it! Comfortable, waterproof, and a breeze to setup!

Less is more.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had my pebble watch since March or April and I love it. Sometimes less is more and this is certainly one of those cases. Other smart watches attempt to much, and end up getting to much wrong as a result. There are many things that don't make sense to try to do from your watch, and adding that functionality detects more than is added overall. The pebble on the other hand want designed as a do it all device. It was designed to give you easier access to what your phone wanted to tell you, and to control simple items that don't need a fine inch screen and touch controls. It's for when you come just pull out your phone. It's for things that fine be done with the press of one button and are over in seconds. Texts and emails show up on your wrist. Switch music tracks and volume. Press a button to have your phone snap a photo. Press another to make it rung to find it when lost. Use it so that if your phone isn't Bluetooth connected to your watch (you're not around it) then it has a lock screen, but if you are nearby, no lock screen. Heck, it even tells time and weather. The battery life is great. Could it be improved? Of course, but that's not to say there a problems. Just that everything can be improved. Regardless, it's right around the sweet spot, while others have overshot. Others have said it before, the price point makes it a bit tougher to recommend. If it was thirty or forty dollars cheaper, then I'd say don't hesitate, get it. But I can see why at 150 it would be smart at this point to see what Google and Apple come out with before diving in. However, it seems likely that, for the reasons above, those watches went really be the same type of product as this, so, I'd still say buy it.

Unbelievable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this with Kickstarter and couldn't be happier that I did so. I get a lot of different notifications, and typically keep my phone in my pocket - it's handy to know when it's a text (and something I need to respond to) and when it's something like a score update to a baseball game. Also, to see who is calling is pretty nice to for when you're in an area that you need to pick your spots to leave, you can gauge how important the call is. I've recently discovered the customize your clock feature that someone created and makes it easy to download to your phone, and there's endless designs that others have created that you can download too. There may be other games, but I have Tetris and Snake, both if nothing else are extremely cool to have on your watch and to show off to people. The watch face I use the most (which are easily cycled through) doesn't have the seconds updating, so my battery typically lasts 6 or 7 days before I need to charge it. Charge time seems to take about 2 hours. Probably my favorite thing about this watch is the alarm feature. You set a time, and the watch starts to vibrate to wake you up. It's such a gentle enjoyable wakeup compared to your alarm yelling at you. Overall, I love this watch, I get countless compliments on it, everyone loves it...and chances are, you will too!
