Not the best

It was exciting to be able to have something to watch my dog. He's alone during the day and id like to see how he handles it since we just had to put our other dog to sleep. You must have blue tooth on and WiFi for the petcube to work. It took me several tries to get it to work. I had to take a break and come back. It expended too much of my energy for me to even care. I know that sounds lazy but I have a full time job and am a full time mom and wife. So I need easy. It does do the job once you've connected it to your phone but if you unplug it you have reset it and reconnect to your phone. And it doesn't come with a stand so for me to get it to work, I have to plug it in, In the kitchen on top of a chair to be able to see my dog. And even then its difficult because I have a gate up that blocks the view. And I don't want him to break it. So no. This is not worth it for me. Now if I left my kids home and wanted to check on them in the living room, then it might work.

Kitten loves it!

I recently got a new kitten and the Petcube has helped me help her stay out of trouble while I am at school. As long as you know the name of your WiFi and your password, then it is simple and easy to connect. Also, I found it helpful that the power cord is rather long making it easy to position in different places.

Waste of money

There is a horrible delay on sound and video. It's literally a small camera shaped like a box. I have 2 dogs and a cat. The cat likes it for the laser pointer feature but the delay on that is horrible as well. I would not purchase again.

Really great camera for pet addicts :)

Im gone for 8-10 hours a day and get very homesick for my little girl. My friends recommended this camera to me and I cant remember life without it! I check up on my girl every day, and the laser feature makes me feel like we're together! Very highly recommend this to anyone who loves their pet!!!

Great idea but didn't work

Very disappointing that we couldn't get it to work, even with the help of Petcube support. They thought it was a router issue and had me disable the router firewall and disable another security setting. That made me nervous as it is, making my internet vulnerable like that. Even did a refresh signal to the cube itself. But none of it worked. Really disappointed and don't even want to try another camera if that means messing with security on my router.

Poor performance and inconsistent connection

The set up process seemed straightforward, however I got to the end of the setup of the app and it gave me a "Cannot Write to Camera" error; I had to contact tech support and go through a litany of holding the reset button down for 8 seconds, unplugging, holding the reset button down for 3 seconds, uninstalling and reinstalling app, etc. The sad thing is the tech in the chat pod online had the script copy and pasted like this is a normal process for them. Should just work out of the box, right? The clunky setup would have been fine but the camera constantly shows as "offline" and can't be viewed remotely. It has no problem recording and storing any motion activated content to the cloud, but I can't view it live, which is primarily why I bought it. Sometimes it shows online, sometimes not. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. What they also don't advertise on this camera is that it only supports a 2.4GHz network and I have a feeling the wireless chip inside it is not very good to boot. They recommend having the camera close to the router (within 10 ft??) but I didn't buy a $400 AC tri-band router and advanced connected home devices to have to place them within 8-10ft of my router. This isn't 2007. Do yourself a favor and sacrifice the laser pointer and get the Arlo Q or Nest Cam. There are two companies that put a ton of work into making a quality product that functions as it should out the box. Y

Overpriced Webcam, horrible usage and support.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought brand new. Set up was easy. Calibrated it 5 times, Exactly how the instructions states. Extremely jerky Laser would move, but no where near where I touched, and would not follow my movement. Contacted tech support, and they told me my firmware needed to be updated and they were going to push an update to my unit within 24 hours. 96 hours later still no update. Contacted support again and "someone will get back to you within 24 hours"... 72 hours later still no contact. I've reset, rebooted, re-set up, removed and reinstalled the app. It works as a web cam then some random laser movement if I touch the screen. It's NOT on autoplay, audio quality is kids walkie talkie quality, and very echo - y. Tech support told me the echo was because of where I placed the unit. I tried it in 4 places, on a table, on a tripod, on mini tripod on a desk, and on the carpeted floor. All the bad echo..

Poor audio feedback

While viewing the camera through the petcube app, the audio constantly gives off a crackling sound. Additionally, when someone speaks through the camera, the sound that comes through is very crackly.

difficult to get and keep running

It would be less obsolete if it would use 5ghz. Tried to use it a week later when away on business "offline" tried again two weeks later - "offline" An hour and half later stuck on "No device found" in the app. Total time spent gettting it to run 4 1/2 hours. total time enjying the product - ten minutes. $179. I'm done TRYING. This product needs a lot of engineering work before being sold. Games I've hd to play - set the router to a fixed channel. turn 5ghx off. still not enough.It should just work in ten minutes for anybody with any wifi whether a 1 0day or 10 year old wifi standard.

Waste of money and time

Sounds like a horror movie. Had major problems connecting it to the internet. Kept saying poor internet connection, tried connecting and installing it in different areas of the house. Got on the phone with customer service and they could not help me.

Poor instructions, didn't work

I downloaded the app, connected the device to my WiFi network, it updated firmware, and after that it was bye bye. It was offline no matter what I did. Turns out, you have to open ports on your router. Those who say it just worked probably have no security enabled on their router. You would think the instructions would mention the ports you need to open. That said, it still didn't work, and I am a technology professional for 30+ years. All my gear works, this thing doesn't. Returning it.
