Impossible To Setup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never connected to the WiFi. Just stayed in a loop. For $200, this should sync up as easy as a tablet or phone, which is not the case. The app and online help need lots of help. Great idea, but needs a lot of work to be more intuitive. Beware, the videos are in 30 sec bursts, not one long video.

Terrible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not only is the camera quality bad the refresh rate is awful. I bought it mostly to use the laser, but when you would start using it the app would crash or the video feed would lag. Also getting this thing set up was painful.

Tons Of Fun!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Petcube Play is a truly fun and interactive device if you own any number of pets whom you would like to check in on during the day or night while away from home whether you are working or simply gone for the weekend. The laser toy that's built in allows for endless fun for those pets in your life who love to chase the ever elusive red dot and the two-way built-in speaker ensures you can talk to your pets and hear them talk back to you. The Petcube Play comes well packaged and well constructed, doesn't feel cheap by any means and is very substantial. Upon opening you find that inside are only three items: the Petcube Play, a very generously long USB cord (approximately 6 feet) and outlet adapter, and instructions with a reset key pin and a few Petcube Play stickers to show your pride if you decide later you must tell the world how pleased you are of your purchase through the sticker. Setup up was super simple. You are directed to download the app which is available on iOS and Android. I was using an iPhone 7 with latest iOS version and install of app was a breeze. On the app it asks you what kind of device you purchased and once you pick it all you have to do is plug in your Petcube to a power source and the Petcube will power on and the app will find it. The app asks you to set up an account which is free and you have the option to name your Petcube and add a picture on your profile. The app does walk you through very easily on allowing your Petcube to access your wireless network which is a requirement if you buy one of these as is does not have a Ethernet port built in. Once you set up an account, which also allows you to share your Petcube Play with either family members or the general public who can then access your Petcube Play and use the laser pointer to play with your pets or just view what's going on in real time, you connect your Petcube on your wireless internet, you are up and running and can view live streaming 1080p picture quality goodness. I mounted the Petcube Play on top of our 73 inch television in the living room and tested the connection and streaming quality from various locations and connected to the internet using either wifi or LTE on the phone. I found at times when I connected via my wifi I would get poor connection issues and quality. This is probably an issue with router settings and I didn't investigate it. It wasn't an issue of the router being too far away as it was only 20 feet from the phone. When using LTE I never had any connection problems or quality issues. I could use the laser pointer with no issues other than a one second lag time from where you are pointing on the screen to when the laser reactes in the physical environment where it's located. I also had my wife access the Petcube Play and my mother-in-law who lives 600 miles away and neither one had any issues of connecting or using the toy or being able to use the two-way speaker (I should mention that anyone who wants to access your Petcube Play must also download the app and create an account. Once they do all they have to do is give you their user name and then you search for them in your app and add them to your friends or family list which sends them a message to confirm their addition to your group then they have access to your camera from that point forward. You can always remove them at anytime for whatever reason). Furthermore, I found that this Petcube Play has an automatic night vision carry over so if the light isn't bright enough, it automatically switches to night vision and has an infrared light which brightens up the room in the night vision mode so you can see what's going on, pretty neat. The Petcube Play also has a tri-pod receptacle on the bottom of the unit if you are so inclined to use a tripod for placement. In conclusion, the Petcube Play is very fun to use to keep tabs on your pets, to play with your furry friends, or just to simply spy on them. It's a true plug and play device with the exception of having to download an app and the picture quality won't disappoint no matter if it's during the day or night. As a bonus, I could definetly see someone using this device as a in home surveillance solution. Either way, if you are on the fence because of the price tag or just not sure it's worth it, stop worrying. This device is well worth the money and peace of mind. It's very well constructed and promises to give you hours of fun with your pets while you are away.

I really like it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this so that i can look in on my ferret while I'm at work or away for the night, and after a ffew weeks, i really like it. Pros: its small and cute with color options, the video is clear, it automatically switches to night vision, you can record video and capture photos, it can be set to start recording when it detects motion. Cons: When speaking to my pet, there is a ton of feedback that i can hear on my phone and from the petcube. Also, my ferret isn't into the laser, but that's on her, not the petcube. All in all, I'm into it.

Great for the Workaholic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the fact that I can keep an eye on my little guy while I am away at work. He can be a little mischievous at times so its great to know when he's up to trouble then just walking home to it and being surprised. He loves the little laser pointer the cube includes and the size of the cube was a lot smaller then expected which is a bonus to me because I dislike clunky items. The quality of the video is pretty awesome and better then most nanny cams I have tried. I would definitely recommend this item!

Fun toy and practical camera all in one!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Petcube is a lot of fun. I got it so I could watch my little Havanese while I am at work. I found it to be really easy to set up. Just plug in, install the app on your phone, log on to your WiFi on the phone app and voilà you have a picture. The laser works very well but the trick is to swipe instead of tap to move it around. The speaker works amazingly well. It is really cool to be able to talk to your pet. The camera doubles as a security camera and gives you a very wide angle shot on a room. The picture is surprisingly good with very low light. The camera design is sleek and easy to place anywhere. If you want to use the laser you need to set it close to the edge of the surface you use otherwise the table or surface interferes with the laser. It has a rubber bottom to help it grip and not slide off of things. Another cool feature is the tripod mount. A tripod works great with the laser feature and allows you to set up the camera at any height and place in the room. I love that you can take picture and video of your pet when they don’t know you are there. You can even share them with other people. I highly recommend the Petcube. LOTS of FUN!

Great Product!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall I am very satisfied and I am close to giving the Petcube Play five stars. I have seen in pet sitting clients homes and decided it was time for my family to have one. I have four cats and I am interested in their day to day habits. I love the night vision feature as it is fun to see what they do when I am home but not watching them. I love the interactive feature of the laser as well. I do have some notes as well. I had to troubleshoot a great deal to get the Petcube to connect to my phone initially. I have found the image to be grainy, and the audio feature makes a whooshing sound. I have some issues with the control of the laser point, slightly jerky. I do think that recalibrating will solve some of the issues I have noticed. I also was able to contact my husband using the Petcube when he had locked his phone in the car and I needed to talk to him urgently. We are still new to the Petcube but really have loved watching our four cats on it!

Watching my fur baby
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Camera, speaker, built in microphone, laser, wide angle lens, night vision, and sturdy build. This product is amazing for keeping an eye out on your fur babies. Love being able to see what my dog is up to and if she is up to no good. Iv'e caught her getting on my bed a few times and its a simple fix by talking to her and telling her to get off. It has the great feature of having a speaker on the outside so your dog can hear you talk to them. Also great feature to have the laser so you can play with them so they are not so bored while you're not home. it has great night vision so when light are off or there is minimal light the camera still shows a lot of detail with the hd camera lens. the cube is small but the camera captures an entire room. It also has a zoom in feature so you can see things up close. Doesn't take up a lot op space so its perfect for shelves or cubbies. I love the camera and all the neat features it has the application is very simple to use. I will recommend this to all my friends who have pets. I wanted to give a 4 1/2 but the scale only lets me do whole numbers. Only thing I think could be fixed is being able to adjust the volume of the speaker on the outside. That is the only thing i think can be modified, other than that the product as a whole is FANTASTIC!

Awesome quality camera !
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was shocked how easy this was to set up and get going. I downloaded the app, plugged the camera in and followed the steps and was working within minutes. We went outside and left our dog inside tontest it out. The picture quality is AMAZING! The tiny camera I expected small range, but it has a LARGE view range which is awesome! I can see so much more than antipatwd and quality is super clear. This is better than my home security system quality pics!! Our dog isn't crAzy about the laser, she's 100lb German shepherd.she freaked out a little bit. So we don't use that feature. I love that I can talk to her and hear her as well ! I also appreciate the push notifications on my phone when it picks up movement. They do offer a subscription where you can buy more storage or something but I didn't find it needed. I would recommend this if you like peace of mind while your not home. I'm thinking about getting another one to keep in our basement by the door we let her out into the yard, as a security camera also! The quality is awesome for how small it is I can't get over it !

Cool features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Camera works really well and I'm able to easily check in on my pups when I'm out of the house. I like the low light/night mode, wide angle lens, and the motion detector notifications. I can get the dogs' attention sometimes with the laser but I imagine that's a great feature for cats. The video quality is clear and surprisingly detailed even from across the room.

Helped solve a mystery in my house
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The pressing reason I wanted a Petcube was to solve a mystery in my house: The Case of the Repeated Litter Box Failures. Without going into all the gory details, let's just say I wanted to know the identity and details of the perpetrator, and whether there was anything weird about the litter box that was causing the crime to occur. I was a little worried because a friend got this same model Petcube and had a frustrating time-consuming experience updating the firmware. I'm happy to say that the firmware problem seems to have been worked out at the factory because my onboarding experience was SMOOTH AS SILK. Download the app... plug the Petcube in... give it your wifi password... and start watching your kitties live!!! The video quality is sharp in daylight, darkness, and low light. The motion detection is also incredible! The algorithm they're using is almost too efficient though... so for instance I'll get sent a 10-second video of my cat going into the catbox and then a second video of him leaving -- but it's all actually one visit. I think there's a limit of 31 seconds per video. The one thing I didn't love is the poor integration between the main Petcube app and their cloud service, for which you get a 30-day free trial with purchase. I can only see the cloud-based videos if I click on the notification -- but I can't figure out how to get to them from the home screen of the app! You need the cloud subscription service to be able to save photos and videos from the unit. Now that the Petcube helped me solve The Case of the Repeated Litter Box Failures, I will be moving it to different locations around the house as I experiment more with the other features. So far it seems like one of my cats really likes the laser, and the other one really likes the microphone. They both accepted the Petcube right away as unobtrusive and non-threatening, which is definitely a good thing. This really is the future of pet ownership, after a few days you can't imagine being without it!

Great way for us to monitor the pets and home whil
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the PetCube as a way to monitor my pets while I am away from the house. The 1080p camera is great and the sound is very clear. The laser is a cool feature, but it does not sync with the app well and is very sporadic. I really like the motion detection feature and the ability to playback video when there is movement in the house. The app is a little buggy. It flips from landscape to portrait mode and back again depending on what menu item is selected. You can turn the camera off while you are at home and you can invite family and friends to view your camera feed if you like. Overall we have been pleased with the PetCube and would recommend it to anyone in the market for a pet cam.
