    Fun but expensive

I was using the Play Bars for a 65 inch Sony. I had a total of 10 covering the back of the tv. With the Gradient strip, i was able to repurpose 7 of the lights to expand the light field. The strip was easy to attach to the tv and the app automatically takes care of it's positioning on the tv. This is definitely a novelty item and shouldn't be used on every movie or tv show, but it does enhance the experience when playing video games and watching action movies. You will need the Phillips Hue hub and the Sync Hub to use these light. Those 3 items alone are well over $500. There are cheaper options on the market, but none of them are as seamless and easy to use as items within the Phillips ecosystem. If you're tech savvy, i would advise you to explore the other options. If you aren't tech savvy or are already invested in the Hue ecosystem, buy this for the ease of integration and use.

    Big Upgrade

Big upgrade! Had the old light strip behind the TV and this is a big improvement with the different portions of the light changing color as opposed to the whole strip. I need the Sync box in order for this to work with all my devices, but it works great with the computer that's connected.

Great product but with a small downside

This was one of my favorite purchases. If you buy the sync box it completely matches up to the colors on the screen which is great for movies and even sports. The only problem I have is that with the sync box, everything is linked up to a single hdmi even if you’re using cable and a game console, and the only way to change the inputs back and forth from console to cable is the hue sync app on your phone. Since they’re both connected to a single hdmi, you can’t change the input on your normal tv remote, so no one else can really use the TV without you being there. I think the product is great enough to disregard this issue, but moving forward hue should try to do something about not being able to use the TV remote it came with to switch inputs. Also, you can’t use the hue lights for smart tv apps. Only consoles and cable.

Awsome lights , pretty easy to install. My son loves them. You do have to buy the hub separately, make sure to read the box.

They work great. Since I purchased the HDMI Sync box last year, this was the perfect addition. I had used a classic light strip wrapped in a circle around the wall mount, but that only worked for one color. Watching this strip dazzle is such a treat. Expensive to be sure, but worth it.

Excellent light strip. Best when paired with Philips Sync box for 250 million varied colors interacting with screen output. Totally pleased but be warned expensive combo and DOES NOT SYNC with smart TV (streamers) output. Does however sync perfectly if utilizing AppleTV.

Not for everybody but if you've seen videos of ambient TV backlights and like the effect, the gradient lightstrip is an excellent, though higher end system. You also need a Hue Syncbox and Hue hub to pull it all together, so altogether it's a bit pricy.

Expensive, but works great. I got the Sync Box with 2 Play Bars, and was a little bummed when this was released because it so much better than the bars. Finally pulled the trigger on this, it was a breeze to install and works great.

Works exactly as it should, and is brighter than I expected. I am not a huge Star Wars fan, but once you set this up that should be the first movie you watch for a test scene. Put the light settings to “Extreme” and enjoy! Once you’ve put the lights through their paces, you’ll want to put the intensity back to subtle or moderately to prevent the lights from being distracting. Until your friends come over for a demo, of course… I have some annoying issues that stem from the Sync Box itself, but that is another review for another time. If you are looking for entertainment lighting, there is no second option to the Hue ecosystem.

Good Standalone Lightstrip or Great with Sync Box

Amazing upgrade from the Hue dual light bars that they replaced. So much more color and brightness. Install was easy and so far no issues with the mounts falling off even after some extended watch sessions with the lights on and TV exhaust venting the heat. We also appreciate the ability to set 3 colors on the strip as my wife uses it to highlight her seasonal decorating. Only downside is that to get the full use out of your lightstrip is that you have to have the Hue sync box. I primarily use my lightstrip for syncing from a PC while gaming but do occasionally use Netflix and Amazon Prime. Due to DRM requirements the desktop sync app won't work with either.

Light strips were very easy to attach to tv. Having to download 3 separate apps to get them to work with the sync box was a bit of a hassle though. Lights up entire small living room nicely.

Love this lightstrip. Only complaints are 1. Could use a better method for attaching to tv or include more clips and 2. Could not place plug end on right side of tv, strip would not bend that way so had to use extension cord to get to plug. 3. Would have been nice if it went all the way around the tv, only does 3 sides. So now i have to add another type of light to the bottom and take up another outlet for power. I really wish they would make these products so they would be able to use one power source. Other than that the lighting is great really makes the tv pop.

I’m using this light strip to replace 4 hue play bar lights connected to the sync box. Installation was simple. The double sided tap brackets are easy to attach (and I even moved 2 after a minute or so, which was easy). There is a little notch on the light to indicate the middle, which made it easy to identify where it should go on the tv. Although pricey, this is a much better experience. The light strip has different zones which make a seamless transition of the lighting effect. Before, I felt like the top of the screen color was never used and the left and right side lights would sometimes be delayed in changing colors. This light strip does not have those problems - timing is excellent and the zones are accurate.

I wish this would have been available when i set up the first light strip around my other TV system. It’s a lot easier to set up and it’s ability to provide multiple colors in one light strip is awesome. Only drawback is the cost.

Bright and fast response , not having to have a ugly camera popping out the top or bottom of the tv like other brands was key. Works perfect on my 85” Samsung Frame recommend installing 6” deep from tv border and the best part of all was that I didnt need the outdated picture quality killing hue sync box just downloaded app on tv and Boom works every single time just like everything else from Hue!
