More complicated than an Edison lightbulb creation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product needs major fine-tuning. It doesn't help they switched the company name from the box to an obscure white. Lights bulbs are ginormous to boot and look like something leprechauns would wear on their feet.

BEWARE NO WI-FI - REQUIRES ETHERNET AND POWER CORD
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all, I love these. they are great. I also own Wemo lights, switches, Insignia Switches, TP Link lightbulbs, Amazon Alexa Spot and Dot, and many other voice-activated devices and hubs. All of them use Wifi to setup and connect. So I figured I would get the mac-daddy of all smart light-bulbs, the Phillips Hue colors. Little did I know, the Hue Bridge not only requires a power brick, and cord, to power the device, it also comes with an ethernet cable which MUST stay plugged into your router at all times so the Hue Bridge has to be located near your router. This is a real shame, and almost deal breaker. Absolutely ridiculous that here in 2018 this thing doesn't have wifi. Even the cheapest $10 to $30 smart bulbs without any Hub/Bridge at all, all use wifi for setup and operation. Was absolutely miffed by this, and can't believe it wasnt more prominently displayed and explained in the product details page. Besides that - everything else is great. Can choose or create just about ANY color. The links with other entertainment products is cool too where itll change colors based on video games or movies being played. All this, and yet a dimosaur of a decision was made to hamper the product and leave it WAY behind all the competitors. So odd.

Lights on
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was able to turn the lights on and off while we were out of town, making my house look occupied. Also my two year old grandson enjoys changing the colors of the lights. Practical and fun.

Best Investment I've Made in a Long Time...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this kit for over a year now and can honestly say, "this was money well spent. It works perfect with my Google Home Mini, Insignia Alarm Clock w/built-in Google Home and Note 8. I love the following features: Set a time for the lights to turn on/off. Different Mood Settings The wide spectrum of colors they can produce *NEW "Hue Sync feature - Windows OS application I love that I can turn the lights on in the Dining Room before I go down stairs. I think I might buy some more for my basement. Setup is simple. The app is somewhat user friendly. I just wish the individual colored lights weren't so expensive.

Buy this!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was on the fence about getting the color kit or just the dimmablle kit. So glad I got the colors! Tons of customization options and preset combinations. You can easily set all lights at the same color/brightness or make every one different using scenes. Very easy to setup and use. Works great with Alexa! Awesome product. Will definitely get more lights.

Nice Intro to a Smart Home
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought these lights as a package deal with Google Home lights work great app is a little confusing especially trying to import new scenes. Luckily there are plenty of third-party apps that solve this issue it's cool to have the lights work with music light a disco hall.

Beautiful color.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love these lights. The colors are beautiful. Only issue is that they turn on and stay on when there is loss of power. Not great especially when you’re out of town.

Completely useless away from home
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I mainly bought these because I was going to be out of town for a couple of weeks and wanted to setup some timers to make it look like someone was home. Ended up buying more lights and spent hours doing all these fancy programs. While waiting at the airport, I remembered I need to turn on those programs. They published an update for the bridge that same day. I did try to update it, but apparently you have to be at home on your WiFi to be able to do the update. Because I didn't do the update, it basically locks you out of the app. You can still manually turn on and off the lights, but nothing else is accessible. So after spending hundreds of dollars and several hours messing with these, they were completely useless for the main purpose they were installed to do. I will never buy one of their products again. I even spoke to their customer support and they couldn't do anything to correct the situation. If you plan to only operate these inside of your house, maybe these will work for you. Even then, if there happens to be an update when you go to use them and you are on limited time, you'll either have to update or be locked out. I personally don't like being locked out of something I've spent so much money on. After returning from my trip, I've researched some other brands and found there are actually better, less expensive, and less complex options. Kind of sucks I'm stuck with these for now because I can't justify throwing them in the trash. But any future additions to my home will be anything but this brand.

Very entertaining
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I cannot get enough of these lights! I have them synced to my gaming system, my TV for movies and my music player. This was a genius idea from Phillips! I do recommend downloading the app called Huemote, it is much more responsive and easier to use than the regular Phillips Hue app that the instructions tell you to download.

Meh!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these on sale a little over a year ago wanting something to replace the old 3 way incandescent bulbs in a couple of rooms in my house that would last longer and work via my phone vs the old plug into the wall timers. I was on the fence about white vs colored but went for the colored as the cost difference with the sale was minimal. I don't think I have used the colored option other then to play around with them every once and a while. Unless you have multiple lights in a room and have them connected to your TV or music to change colors with the entertainment, the color feature is pretty useless for just two standard table lamps. Speaking of connecting to entertainment, good luck! It seems to require a rabbit hole of 3rd party apps to set anything up. The color hue of the white is insanely hard to find a middle ground of natural light with at any sort of brightness that is useful at nighttime. My old 3 way bulbs would more then light up my entire living room. I have to put these on the very blue "concentrate" setting to be able to see anything of detail and even then it's debatable with my creeping toward 40 year old eyes that don't require glasses or contacts to see. And while I thought controlling the lights via my app was great before I got them, I failed to realize this means you need to carry your phone with you everywhere in the house to turn lights on (unless you have Alexa in every room to do this by voice command). If you walk upstairs to grab something quickly and leave your phone downstairs, you will be doing so in the dark unless you remember to turn them on before heading up. Same goes for middle of the night emergencies. You need to fumble with unlocking your phone, finding the app, hitting the on button and waiting for the lights to slowly respond. The only good thing they have going is the ability to set up various routines such as fade from off to on in the morning or fade from on to off at night or the ability to set them on timers in various rooms so you don't come home to a dark house or it looks like you are home when you are away on vacation. I could have easily solved this with the cheaper white bulbs though!
