I bought this kit for my daughter's bedroom and we have had so much fun setting up different scenes in her room for her different moods. We haven't had a chance to tryout the function of putting them in sync with music, but we hope to do it soon. I have enjoyed them so much I'm going to get a set of four for my room!

This is the best product out. I love these lights. If I could get the lights to sync with movies would be awesome but right now the only way is to play it through a laptop & have digital movie streaming to the tv. A little too much to work. I love being able to set the mood with the lighting changes. Must buy!!

These lights work very well. I was surprised as I did not realize that each light can be programmed separately, even if they operate on the same light switch. The colors and nice; however, I have not used them since the first time. The less expensive lights without the colors would have been sufficient for me.

Connected to the app, you can change the lights to many different colors and brightness levels. Also like the option to set them to turn on in the morning to wake to "natural" light. They are quite expensive, but have been fun for my teenage son

    House full of Hue

My entire house consists of all Hue bulbs and I love it. I have north of 100 bulbs in my house and to have the ability to control all of them from my phone is amazing. I set schedules and zones to have certain lights come on and off and certain times which makes things so convenient as well as efficient.

At first, I just wanted lights to fade on with my morning alarm. I've not had to frighten or annoy myself awake since Then, I added Alexa. Crawl into bed, and "Alexa, turn off the lights." Sweet. Once you realize exactly how much these lights can change your room, you'll start creating scenes and timers. I don't reach for the wall switches anymore as I enter or leave a room. I leave the house, my lights turn off. I get home, and one turns on. I have routines setup to change my scenes throughout the day, so I transition from "Dawn" to "Foggy Morning" to "Sunny Day" to "Early Afternoon" then "Sunset" then "Twilight" and finally "City Glow". If I want to change the mood or brighten or dim, just ask Alexa to do it! Want a party? "Alexa, turn on Colorloop". And I can add motion sensors to have one or two lights turn on at night on a trip to the fridge. Then you start realizing that adding a few smart outlets or sensors will let you use voice commands with Alexa to turn fans on/off, or control your TV and stereo, and even the thermostat. Do you want to know where to start if you're curious about this whole Smart Home thing? Start here.

    Excited and Disappointed

I was in need of some replacement bulbs, and I figured I would get the best most flexible option available - Philips Hue to replace the blown bulb versus a standard LED or UFL option. I was also excited about the possibilities especially with the approaching Halloween holiday. My intention was to have lighting to reflect the decorations and change colors automatically during parties. While the bulbs are cool with the color options that you can choose with the movement of your finger or verbal command with a personal assistant. I found out that the lights do not change automatically to simulate disco or strobe lighting in a club. The Philips app has an entertainment option which is suppose to match the sound in the room, but I found out that it does not work unless the television is connected to a PC or you need to acquire a separate smart device app, hence my disappointment. Maybe Philip Hue labs will develop some better options. Another thing is I found out that the bulbs do not simulate black (i.e. black light) which is a duh on my part because black is the absence of light. The bulbs can be changed to purple, which is the closest to the black light effect; it just would not cause whites and bright colors to glow like a traditional black light. As a last notation, to have the lights flash to sounds like thunder, I hooked up the lamp to a lightening fx device; but, what the device ultimately does is turn the lamp off and on based on the sound. Every time the light bulb goes off, it reverts back to white (the default color), so I loose the purple setting every time. For now, I will still recommend for the potential options that may come, but I unfortunately I had high expectations.

I bought the starter set just to try it out, and it works great! Now I have complete control over my lights and some switches. It was really easy to hook up and it’s really easy to maintain. If the power goes out it resets itself and takes a little effort on my part. I like that.

All i can write is WATCH OUT HUE LIGHTS are very addicting. After getting the starter kit and see how very easy it is to set up and even better how cool it looks, i went out and bought more lights. We show off our HUE lights all the time and some of our friends went out and bought them. This is a MUST BUY for EVERY SMART HOUSE.

I have this set in use at my home and it has been reliable enough that I bought it as a gift for a friend. We both use it linked to our computers, controlled through Razer's Synapse software. Games like Doom, Deep Rock Galactic, Star Trek Online, etc. have Hue sync support to add to the ambience of your gaming. I use my system coupled with several Hue Taps and a motion sensor. The system works reliably most of the time (but when it messes up, be prepared to reset the hub). I haven't been able to explain why it has stopped responding correctly in the past but, fortunately, those occasions have been few. Philips is still developing features to add to the system (more granular control of the lighting, intelligent actions, etc.) It's to the point now where it's configurable as I desire, though I hope they'll add more options for the motion sensor behavior. We use a combination of the mobile app, the Taps, and timer/time-of-day-based control. For instance, turn off the common area lights after a certain late hour, don't activate the lights when motion is detected before a certain time, etc. The color reproduction is good in the latest generation of bulbs (the first ones I bought years ago had trouble with greens). There are "Hue Labs" options that users have developed and submitted that offer functionality not contained within the stock Hue app - I've used a couple with success and hopefully Philips will use these as an ideas to integrate into the app. You may have to upgrade the devices' firmware out of the box, but the procedure is straightforward and doesn't take that much time (unless you've bought a lot of bulbs). There also exist options to tie in the Hue system to others (for instance, have a Logitech Harmony remote manipulate the lights based on your activity [dim the lights when you activate "Watch a movie," etc.]) Alexa has been able to control ours well thus far and it required minimal setup. It's a bit of an expensive ecosystem to buy into, but with the dearth of well-integrated systems available, it's a decent buy if you are prepared to spend the money to achieve the lighting and control you want.

Easy on the eyes, and Bandwidth

I have tried smart bulbs, wall switches, and then this kit. So far it has performed excellent. All the lights connect wireless through it's base or bridge. It seems to free up of my bandwidth that way. The lights are plenty bright, with endless color schemes. It also has plenty of apps available to add great effects such as Thunder storms, fireworks, or other holiday schemes. Bulbs are pricey, and after this purchase, they are only available to purchase one at a time, which makes it really expensive to place throughout your home.

The lights connected to the HUE hub. The lights updated properly. The lights are great for setting the mood but I wish they were as bright as LIFX. The app to control the lights is great, way better tha LIFX. The scheduling is exactly what I was looking for. I will be be buying more lights in the future.

Great Smart Lights to Start Out With

I originally bought these lights when they came out (Gen1) and returned them. Bought a few other brands in between them Lifx, Geenie, TP_Link, Wallyworld and a few $12 color smart lights. The whites were "ok" but colors were dismal. Lifx was best at 1100 lumens but at $60 per bulb I only bought one and that was it. Philips Hue lured me back in from friends and ratings. Hub - no worries. Plug it in and you are set to go. They respond quickly and are accurate. Even bought a 4 bulb set with a free Amazon Echo from Best Buy as a house warming gift for a friend. Included a few stand up lamp fixtures for their living room too. They LOVE IT! Colors make the difference. Being able to talk to them is more than convienient. Now, I am slowly building up my color Hue army - one bulb every two weeks until I have the house all Hue. The others are going to a garage sale soon. Love the Hue experience even though they are a little more expensive in some ways. Buy them used and the price comes down. Recommend the Philips Hue system from Best Buy to start your way to painting with light.

These lights are well worth the money. Very cool to be able to change a room just with colored lights. Color adjustments with the Hue App is easy but I do wish it had more customizable options without having to use 3rd party apps. But I absolutely love these and will be getting them for every room in the house.
