I believe one hue puck (the central component) can control up to 10 hue items. Having these switches around allow you to use these lights and turn them on and off at the press of a button. You can even detach them from the wall and use them as a remote.

Great way to control your lighting

The Hue white Smart light is a great addition to our lighting. With controls on our phones and iPads as well as through our Amazon Echo we can set up timed schedules, intensity and all with the ability to over ride the settings using Alexa or the phones.

You cannot beat the simplicity of these WiFi bulbs. Just screw them into the light socket then add it via the app. Easy, peazy. Once you install the bridge, you can include as many as 50 bulbs per bridge.
