Gen 1 was awful. Gen 2 didn't produce the proper greens and blues which drove me to buy 26 LIFX bulbs. The LIFX are for sale and I'm proud to say this Gen 3 bulb with richer colors are great. Accurate Green color and can do other blues color such as Cyan or Aqua which the previous Gen's did not. Make sure if you buy these it has the little richer colors badge in the upper right hand corner! The biggest reason for the switch back to Hue is because of HomeKit support along with Works with Nest! They are still 800 Lumens though.

The changing colors is cool but past the initial wow, the more useful feature is the dimming or brightening you can set with your phone on the HUE app. So say around 10 pm you can make it start dimming and it will turn off half an hour later. I love this feature and use it daily to keep up with my sleeping routine, you can also make the lights gradually turn on to wake you up a bit more naturally than an alarm.

I have a fairly extensive home automation setup and to this point was only using Z-Wave light bulbs. Running those has been fine and I was satisfied with them... until I installed these. I wasn't originally a fan of having a separate App to setup these bulbs, but once setup my Home Automation controller controls them just fine (Home Assistant). This setup also works well with Alexa/Echo, and seemingly endless possibilities with IFTTT and Home Assistant. The thing that sets these apart from the z-wave bulbs is the synchronized group commands. If I am controlling a group of Z-Wave bulbs, they will turn on/off/dim at their leisure, which means they don't all act at the same time. This is just a characteristic of the z-wave communications. The Hue bulbs turn on/off/dim/change color simultaneously, which is really a nice upgrade. This may seem like a small thing, but once you experience the simultaneous actions of grouped bulbs with Hue, the others just seem like a cobbled together solution. I still have to work on some scenes for setting specific colors when certain things happen (for instance Flash Red all lights if security alarm or smoke alarm goes off, flash blue if the water leak sensor goes off, etc...) The uses are endless and I'm very happy with them.

I'm a new homeowner and as I was putting some finishing touches on furnishing my place, realized I had a gift card to Best Buy. The Philips Hue lighting system seemed like an intriguing way to add some "pop" by adjusting the mood of my place depending on the occasion. It turns out the reviews and videos don't nearly do these lights justice (and that says a lot considering how high they're rated). I had partly held off on previous purchase of the lights because they are on the pricey side. But this is one purchase I can promise you will think is worth every penny. I can set the lights for any holiday theme, dim the lights to blue to set a relaxing mood while binge watching Netflix, make my place feel like a night club, and still have the power to fine tune and optimize traditional lighting for activities such as reading, studying, or just being able to see whatever it is I'm working on. And this is all done by one click of a button over your phone; which can also control the lights for an entire room or each light individually. It's a very easy and straightforward app that controls this ability. Buy these lights! You won't regret it.

Bought these during a BestBuy sale and I must say I am definitely pleased with how they have been working. The are super easy to install and the app makes it incredible easy to use. I like the different preset moods that they have as well as the countless color options to choose from.

I love that I can turn these lights on before I walk downstairs. I like the fact that they can change any color that you desire. I don't like the fact that you spend almost $200 and can't get more than just scenes from the default app. Another advantage is that you can connect it to your Google Home or Google Home Mini to control them. I know that I didn't waste any money on this purchase. I plan to buy additions for this kit...

I bought this product to help me move my home into the SMART world. The lights work as advertised with my Google Home and Google Mini. They can be adjusted for color, intensity, and brightness (dimmer). Set up was not difficult even though it does take a little bit of work for a novice. Naming the lights and assigning rooms takes some time and aforethought so that one can control the lights by room and by name.

I love these lights ! When you connect these to your smart device it makes the experience ten times better. The nice thing about it is that you can change the colors to whatever lighting you prefer . They look beautiful . I highly reccomend if you're in to high tech .

We just bought these so we can control our porch light when we aren't home. This does the trick. I love it. Started off with 3 bulbs, now up to 7. Can control the brightness, color and on/off from anywhere. Connected to my Google Home and can control with my voice.

I’ve been playing with this product since I got it, works perfect with google home, the price is up but, I can very much change my room to any color just by saying hey google change the lights to.... and I can do a lot more with the app, a nice feature to have.

I love these lights, I was hesitant to buy at first, but now I'm slowly replacing all the bulbs in my home with various Philips products. They all work well together, the different colors are incredible. The app makes them incredibly easy to control.

The setup of the lights was extremely quick, easy, and straight-forward. In about ten minutes, I had the bridge and lights installed and updated. Powered with Google Home, I can use voice commands to change the colors and brightness.

This is a pretty sweet starter kit to get into smart lights. The different color lights look good, and it's super easy to use. I've paired all of our Hue lights with Google Home for voice control. The app makes setup quick and easy.

Love these lights. Able to control them through my phone or by just telling Alexa what i want them to do. "Alexa, turn living room on" "Alexa, make living room blue". Great but expensive. The only thing I would change is the price.

I really love these lights. So easy to set up with the hub. I previously had LIFX, and those are a pain to add to my network, and take forever to respond. Hue are far better (but not as bright as LIFX) and have many colors.

I purchased the Phillips Hue starter kit on the Black Friday sale along with my Google Home to start making my home smarter. I have been meaning to get a Google Home for awhile and read that the Phillips Hue lights were an easy starter pairing for Home control. The lights are great, the setup was easy and after seeing how well the starter kit worked I ordered 3 more bulbs immediately on the Cyber Monday sales. They all add in easily to the hub. Are recognized by Google home, and Siri quite easily. The color themes and timers are great. I have the light in my bedroom set to work with my wake up alarm and its amazing so far. Family that have been over for the holidays this season have been impressed and always ask what brand this is and how it works.

Live the hue lightbulbs. easy set up amd fun to play with. Perfect for holiday ambiences. Green for saint patricks. Red for valentines and xmas. Also love the dimming feature to rest ur eyes. Simply wonderful.

I didn't think I would need this, but once I had it, I love it. never had to leave the bed to turn off the light. Changing the color and dimming the light when I am trying to relax. highly recommend it.

A fun start to home control...these lights were easy to set up wth the Hue Hub and the Hue app...add a Google Home and control the lights with voice commands....Amazing technology....lost a star however for being a bit pricey...but as soon as the price for bulbs drops I will definitely add many more around the house.

Don’t expect them to light up your whole house, it’s pretty expensive. Rather its changing color and dimming functions make it perfect mood lighting. Make it perfect companion for google home.
