Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the Hue Bluetooth Lightstrip Plus's brightness, ease of use, and the sleek appearance. Many appreciate the straightforward installation and compatibility with various smart home systems, while some find the adhesive and price to be less satisfactory. The length of the lightstrip was also a point of concern for several users. Positive feedback on the app and Bluetooth functionality was also noted.

    Philips Strip Light replacement

This item was purchased is to replace a burned out Philips Strip Light LED Driver. Unfortunately, the Philips company has completely redesigned the entire set to the next version, V.4. The existing lightstrip is V. 3. Therefore i had to replace the entire set. It works.

    They're lovely, but...

Alright, so I purchased a couple of these lightstrips in October of last year (2019) and had them set up and everything was great. They responded well to the app, responded well to Alexa, connected fine when setting up, hardly disconnects from my network unless I have a power outage which I just restart my hub, but I have experienced one major issue. These are rated to last 2-3 years of CONTINUOUS use or 20 years at 3 hours a day for 7 days a week, BUT my first set died after 4 months and this next one died after 11 months. I don't run these everyday. I run them anywhere between 2-5 days a week, 30mins to 4 hours average. Never kept them on for longer than a work day of 8 hours, so with that being said, I should have SEVERAL years with these, but nope, both died in under a year. Maybe I bought from a bad batch? Luckily, reaching their warranty support is no hassle. They replaced my first set within 2 weeks back in February/March. I just recently called in for this last one. The replacement one is still alive after 6-7 months, but we'll see how it goes, considering this one lasted 11 months before dying. I'm hoping these replacement ones will last me what they're supposed to last. I have the hue bulbs and play bars and those have been fine so far. No dead ones yet. My oldest Hue bulbs are maybe around 5 years old or so and I use them more often and they are still working perfectly, so I know Hue doesn't make bad products.

    It could be better

It has great power! Dont get me wrong, but the glue could be better. When trying to get it stick to the wall i was planning on using it on it took an hour to get it to work. Not only that the end of the lights had a defect that was apart of the white tab once i pulled it took off the glue straight off the line.

    Not worth the price

Quality is good and so as the effect. But it's really pricy comparing with the length of the light stripes. And the connectivity to the mainstream smart home hub can be improved.

Information missing in the product description

This has got to be one of the biggest ripoffs that I have ever purchased from Best Buy, sure the lights work, but the problem that I have with these lights, is that they have less functionality than the 20$ lights that you will find on amazon. A lot of the functionality of the product in the product description is locked behind a paywall of sorts, like if you want to be able to sync your lights up to music or put your lights into a color cycle (which you can only do through third party apps), then you have to buy a Phillips hue bridge for 60$. Those are functions that you get from 20$ lights off of Amazon. And ontop of all of this, the reason why I purchased these lights were because they were supposed to be able to sync up with what was displayed on my tv, but to come to my surprise after installing the lights onto my tv, I found out that in order for me to be able to do that, I had to purchase a 230$ sync box from Phillips!!! None of this information was in the product description, and if I would have known any of this, then I would have just purchased a light strip off of amazon for a fraction of the price and get more function. Again I would like to say these lights work, but for the price of the lights, it’s just not worth it unless you’ve got another 300$ to spend.

Price is too high for how many feet this is. I'd buy it if it was the same price but for 120ft.

Removed functionality after I spent thousands

When I bought this very expensive light as well as others totalling thousands, I was able to use them on a local network without internet and without sharing my data with Philips. Philips has elected to remove this functionality years later. I dont want to share my information and I dont want smarthome devices that have been shown to be exploitable on my primary network. Before, I was able to isolate these devices with a $40 firewalled router. Never again, Philips.

    Bluetooth and Google Home issues

I specifically bought these to use with my Google Home yet it won’t connect and it’s not just me. I found a number of forums discussing how the light strip sets up fine in the main lighting app but when trying to connect it through the google home app, it doesn’t work. I wish I would’ve know that before buying but luckily Best Buy has an awesome return policy so I’ll be checking out other lighting options.

This is pointless if you don’t own a hue bridge which you have to purchase separate

Had these for over a month and these are great! Just kidding, these are the worst possible lights I've ever bought, these lights started off fine, until the sticky pad started coming off so easily, first night of having them they fell off and we needed to use a certain type of tape to put them back on. Another week of using these, they stop connecting to my phone and they dont turn on anymore. I hope Philip's realizes what bad of a product they have created.
