Wasn't sure when I bought this if I would like it. Having had it now for several weeks I definitely enjoy the many different lighting options. From reading to watching a movie to just adding some color this light is very useful. I have already added more lights to my kitchen for under the cabinets. Would recommend as very easy to use and the app is simple in design.

The standard for color bulb systems

I got these after returning LIFX bulbs that just didn't work for me (and many others, apparently). Hue is the standard, with connected apps for many devices, IFTTT support and Amazon Echo support (to name a few). My only gripe is that the bulbs cannot do the full spectrum of colors, there is no "true blue" and yellow doesn't show well either, though the colors they do are nice and it's more than adequate for a 2nd generation system. The Hue Bridge is small and keeps the bulbs connected at all times, it will require a LAN port on your router (so be aware of that). I'm using my Amazon Echo to control them and it's really neat. There's also countless apps out there to control them from your cell phone beyond the Hue app (and which have capabilities beyond the normal Hue app). I'd recommend these, though I wish they'd go on sale because once you start with this system you end up replacing all the bulbs in your apartment/house, and that does get costly.

The setup was easy and required little effort. The colors have a nice range to them. The best set up is that you can have the lights turn on as you approach the house. The only downside is that there aren't too many apps. Although, some of the apps are gorgeous and create color schemes you wouldn't imagine. Most definitely will be buying more for my home.

Kit had Gen 2 Bridge which was easy to setup (I did a Bridge transfer from Gen 1 to Gen 2 using the Hue App) Only issues were that Gen 2 Hue does have issues and Philips is trying to work out the bugs so I am using Gen 1 Hue app with Gen 2 Bridge. Another issue was Bridge detecting the bulbs in Auto Search. I had to use the serial numbers from the bulbs and had to do a manual search. Once all was setup, I am able to control bulbs from the Hue app on my phone and tablet.

Since introducing myself to Philips Hue, I can honestly say that it has become a true addiction. There are so many applications (some you have to pay for) to really enhance the capability of the Hue system itself. It can interact with what you're watching, or listening to. It's super easy to set up and use. I would highly recommend this to anyone!

Perfect for creating your own style for your room. i can use them as normal light bulbs and set warmth depending on my preference. and when i want to change the mood i can change to almost any color at any brightness. setting up is easy, although it is something that has to hard wired to the router which adds another device other than the modem.

Albeit expensive, the Hue Bridge is usable with IFTTT and loads of other apps that can be found on the Apple and Play store. I was even able to download a third party application that took several screenshots of what was being displayed on my computer and use the dominating color of each screenshot to display on the Hue multicolor bulbs. The amount of flexibility for this technology is growing, and someday I expect to have universal systems (compatible with all platforms) to control lights in very specific ways (applying advanced logic) using motion sensors and loads of other things without the heavy reliance on IFTTT. Because everyone has to face the fact that IFTTT is still constricting. The only downside is the amount of heat generated. I believe it might say somewhere on the box and/or Hue's website that you are not supposed to use these lights in enclosed fixtures, but who really cares enough to listen to that? Besides the heat generated, there are really no absolute downsides besides the learning curve of various applications to attempt to apply logic to controlling the lights. There are positives and negatives, but this is a high quality product worth of your investment.

I've been holding off on purchasing a smart lighting system, but after reading reviews, I decided to try the Hue system. I'm glad I did. Installation was quick and easy. The app works great on my iPhone and Apple Watch, and third-party apps give even more control options. If you're considering smart lighting, this is the system to get.

I got these for my brother. He hooked them up and these light bulbs are awesome. Not only are they bright, but they can change any color. The bridge allows up to 40 bulbs. You can control them altogether or individual. You can bring up a picture, and the bulbs will go to that color. He is going to turn his whole house like this.

Philips Hue is one of the light automation systems we're testing out at the house. I really love the color changing ones and the different shades of the same color we can implement using the app. Amazon integration is still not 100% though as we cannot set any of the scenes properly; but all in all these are fantastic lights.
