This device is meant as a compliment to those who want more from their movie watching and gaming experiences. It's not for everyone due to it's high cost of entry, but those who have been wanting to sync their lights with what's playing on screen without some crazy workaround using a PC, this is a dream come true. Simply plug in the device, connect it to your hue hub, connect your HDMI devices, set an entertainment area, and click sync. Your lights will match the color of your screen for everything including Netflix, Hulu, Blurays, Video Games, and any other video feed you're getting through HDMI. It makes spending time with the kiddos watching a movie or playing games in the living room that much more exciting.

Love my phillips lights. Love syncing them with entertainment even more! I wish there was a better version for the box however. I wish there was a remote for it sometimes so I could switch the inputs a little easier. The app on my phone is ok, but it isn't always the best solution. I have two and at random times the box switches off for a few seconds and then comes back but I am not sure what causes it. This is a rare occurrence but it does happen enough to be noticeable.

Works great. Easy to set up. There is another app you have to download to control it with the tv to sync the light but it can also be used with the regular hue app and bridge as a normal light so it’s on when the “living room” lights are on and then switches to mirror the TV when I turn it on. Worth it!

Every since the Phillips hue family was introduced I’ve always wondered why they didn’t have a disco setting for their bulbs. This is the answer plus so much more. Watching movies is like being in them. Listening to music is like being at the club. Playing games is, well you get it by now. Also being able to sync up to 10 hue lights at once means this will work in the most open areas!! May have to buy another for my bedroom!!!

Great product. Light strip is really good and has a lot of color. Only down side is that there isn’t a longer one that can get the bottom of the screen.

Finally able to sync lights to what’s on the TV without the laptop and apps nonsense. This is an expensive solution and really just a novelty item but it does work once it’s setup and is kinda cool. Works really good with certain material and is kinda distracting with others so it’s kind of a mixed bag for me. I’m still tweaking the layout of my lights so I can hopefully fine tune it but so far so good. If you have lots of lights and are a fan of hue and immersive television this is a solid addition to your setup.

I recently purchased the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, and I must say, it has completely transformed my home entertainment experience. This little device is a true game-changer for anyone looking to elevate their movie nights, gaming sessions, or even casual TV viewing. Setup was a breeze, thanks to the clear and detailed instructions provided. The device seamlessly integrates with my existing Philips Hue ecosystem, allowing me to sync the lighting in my room with the on-screen action. The result is an immersive and captivating visual experience that enhances every moment. What truly sets the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box apart is its compatibility and versatility. It supports up to four HDMI devices, which means you can connect your gaming console, Blu-ray player, streaming device, and more, all simultaneously. The box intelligently analyzes the content and syncs the lights accordingly, creating an ambiance that syncs perfectly with what's happening on your screen. I appreciate the level of customization available with the Philips Hue Sync app. It offers a range of dynamic lighting modes, including video, game, and music, each with its own unique effects. The ability to fine-tune the brightness, color intensity, and responsiveness of the lights gives you complete control over your visual environment. Plus, the app regularly receives updates, ensuring that you'll always have the latest features and improvements. One of the standout features of this sync box is the ability to extend the lighting beyond just the TV area. With the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, you can sync your entire Hue setup, including lightstrips, bulbs, and lamps, creating a cohesive lighting experience throughout your room. It truly adds an extra layer of immersion and ambiance, whether you're watching a blockbuster movie or embarking on a virtual adventure. In terms of performance, the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box delivers flawlessly. The response time is incredibly fast, ensuring that the lights change in perfect sync with the on-screen action. I haven't noticed any noticeable lag or latency issues, even during intense gaming sessions. The box seamlessly adapts to different screen resolutions and refresh rates, which is a testament to its reliability and engineering. Now, it's important to mention that the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box is a premium product, and the price reflects that. However, I firmly believe that the investment is worth it if you're someone who appreciates a truly immersive entertainment experience. It's an investment that brings a new dimension to your existing Philips Hue setup, making it well worth the cost. To sum it up, the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box is a remarkable addition to any home entertainment setup. Its seamless integration, extensive customization options, and impressive performance make it a must-have for Philips Hue enthusiasts and anyone seeking to enhance their visual experience. If you're looking to take your entertainment to the next level, this sync box is an excellent choice. Pros: Easy setup and integration with existing Philips Hue ecosystem Supports multiple HDMI devices simultaneously Customizable lighting modes and effects Extends lighting beyond the TV area Fast response time and reliable performance Cons: Higher price point In conclusion, I highly recommend the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box to anyone looking to create a captivating and immersive entertainment setup. Really good. Only issues are it is way over priced and you have to use the app separate from the original hue app. I don't understand that thought process, but it does work so I don't understand alot of the reviews saying it doesn't work. Haven't had any issues with it. But that thing is way way to expensive. I only bought it for my toddler to watch cartoons with and have an immersive experience.

Works great, at first I had a hard time getting it to work properly but quickly determined that the root cause was the HDMI cable I was using. You need to make sure you’re using a premium HDMI cable, the one I was originally using was an Amazon brand cable rated for in wall installations. After replacing the cable the box worked perfectly. It's a bit pricey for most people but it's a must have if you're using Hue lighting with your entertainment.

Let me say firstly i wanted to fully enjoy this product. But it has its cons and issues. Pro: nice addition to my Hue setup. 4 HDMI pass throughs. Small. Cons: expensive when there is a cheaper just as good alternative. While watching movies or playing games it will suddenly black screen for no reason at all several times during the day. Thought it was a lemon but several others have this issue. Audio will cut out. Lights will stop syncing. Sometimes the app wont stop syncing or switch hdmis. No Ethernet port, only wireless. Signal loses strength easily if placed close to a wall or by the tv. Has to be in the open for excellent signal. Expensive, nice but expensive. Buy on sale. Other than that, not bad.

Amazing quality. Works just as advertised. The HDMI inputs switches with the app. There's no remote but it's really easy. If you have a playstation it turns on automatically when u turn in the ps5. Only bad thing it will not turn the lights on u got to turn it on with the app. Everytime

Bought this to go along with Toy Story 4. Its something magical when the whole room becomes the movie. Almost like you're in the scene. I have multiple hue lights all synced to the hue play. When a scene changes the lights change and it feels like we're in universal studios or something. Great pickup and worth the purchase..

I bought this so that my Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip would sync with my TV and it works like a charm! Without this, my lightstrip would not at all have the same effect. The only downside to it that I can see is the auto-switch HDMI inputs. It seems to work by HDMI order, so if HDMI 3 is currently being used and HDMI 1 is activated in the background, it will auto-switch to HDMI 1 until the device is turned off. Even if I manually go in and change it back to the other HDMI that I was on, it auto-switches back to the higher one seconds after. I believe there are settings for this though, I just have not gotten around to going through them all yet and I simply just rearranged the HDMI inputs to match which are used more.

I love the Phillips Hue brand, but this product was the clunkiest of all the products I have purchased from them. I got it working, but it was not nearly as seamless as the other products in the series. The finished product is decent, not amazing. I held off on buying it for along time because of the price. Now that I have it, I still think it is overpriced.
