Check compatibility
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was good, but the issue is it only works with 2023 and newer Samsung TVs. I tried so many workarounds including Bluetooth cables, connecting directly to the WiFi, etc, but it only works with PlayStation or newer Samsung TVs

A must have
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are movie buff like myself & you want to impress with not only the surround sound but also the visual effects. Then meet the next level Hue sync box. It does the trick. I paired these with the Hue Play lights. It syncs every movies together. If you have to outputs on your receiver you don't even need to run anything through the box. You want lose sound or picture quality that way. Must have if you love the room to light up with the movie. Good during the day but EXCELLENT at night!

Confused about all the negative reviews
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Id give this 10 stars if i could. After reading the reviews, i became a little skeptical but purchased it anyways and im glad i did. You gotta look close at the 1 stars. These ppl leaving 1 stars have absolutely 0 technology experiences. Very easy to set up, i didn't even use the direections and still took about 25 minutes. This is a must buy for your home entertainment. Id recommend it to anyone.

Good product, software needs to be updated.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Product is awesome when it works. It really does add to the whole movie/tv/gaming experience. My issue is that sometimes one or more lights will go completely dead. The software in general seems buggy. Sometimes the app will just show connecting even though the system is operating but I can't adjust my settings. In order to fix the light after it goes out I have to reset the hue box via the app IF the app is working. Worst case I'd have to pull the plug and wait a minute or so to plug back in. For a product this expensive it should be more polished. But again, when it's working fine I love it.

Expensive but easy to set up
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Kind of expensive but haven't found any other alternative. Having the lights sync with your television definitely adds to your experience.

Very Simple To Install But Very Overpriced
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This item is very cool if you have money to blow, but it is definitley over priced for only being able to plug in 4 HDMI devices and you're only allowed 10 lights per entertainment area. I don't know if this is just me but literally my entire house, inside and out, is all philips hue. So it would be kind of cool for me to be able to not have a limit on the number of lights in my entertainment area. For almost $300 for a small box, I feel like that's reasonable to ask.

Works great in specific scenarios
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works perfect when you are either connected directly to your tv and devices or like a sound bar. But trying to connect it to a audio receiver and channel everything through there has its issues

Pretty cool
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product is awesome probably makes the lights go along with the video. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a remote to change the inputs. I only ended up putting one input hooked up to it because when I would turn my system on it would always go straight to the Blu-ray player even if that was not what I was turning on other than that this project is awesome I love how it brings lights to the picture.

Great
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got a bad first box, replaced that one and so far the second one is working fine. It’s not cheap once you buy all the light strips and bars but worth it with the right content.

A Blast!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Hue Play HDMI Sync Box is a great addition to my home theater. The box was simple to set up. I saw some complaints online about how it cannot be used with a sound bar but I had no problem connecting my Bose Cinemate 15 - I just run from the optical out of my TV into the optical in of the Bose, and my TV sends a copy of the audio from the HDMI to the optical output. I have really enjoyed the whole setup process as the results are quite gratifying.

This thing is awesome!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the best additions I added to my entertainment system along with the Philips Hue Gradient Light Strip. I just wish they had a way for it to work directly with my smart tv.

Great.. If you have will to drop the cash.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setting up the box was a breeze and I absolutely love the addition. I just wish it was not so expensive.. for most, this will not be necessary; however, I personally LOVE it.

Nice effect, but pricey
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installation is a breeze, only made a bit harder because the power cable is too short. I had to get an extension, and like everything else in the Hue line, that wasn’t cheap. This works surprisingly well, though you’ll need to tweak what lights you want it to affect, because too many lights can easily get distracting. I found that only letting the lights behind the TV work made for the best experience. Taking one star off because the software implementation is still lacking. It would be much better, for instance, if it let you adjust brightness per light. Since there is only one overall brightness setting, some lights can overpower others and you just have to remove them from syncing.

Spendy but simple

Pricey set-up but very cool product!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1st Sync Box I received directly from Phillips was a dud, had to go through major hoops with tech support to get returned, no exchange because they were out of stock, luckily BB had it in stock and it was delivered promptly. Set it up exactly like the previous defective item and worked perfectly right out of the box. Set up was simple, love the ambient lighting with my gradient light strips and 77” LG OLED. Very accurate, no lag. Definitely ups the immersion experience factor!!! Would not hesitate to get again… just wish it had an update to utilize HDMI 2.1 pass through at 120 Hz for my PS5.

Still unsure about this product.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been on the hue ecosystem for a while now and i thought with this there would be some major changes on the app for lights placement but it uses the same entertainment areas from the old app. I have 3 hue plays one on each side of the tv and one on the top, (i didn't quite get a good result for the light strip on the fireplace mantle which is essentially the bottom part of the tv). With videos that have top and bottom black bars the lights just stays white. Now, i have an xbox and an apple tv plugged in to the sync box, switching between inputs and cec hasn't been a problem and there are some convenient toggles in the app itself. The problem is when the sync box would crash randomly and i get the oldschool static tv noice and picture. 230 bucks just to experiment is just not worth the money.
