Great.. If you have will to drop the cash.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setting up the box was a breeze and I absolutely love the addition. I just wish it was not so expensive.. for most, this will not be necessary; however, I personally LOVE it.

If you love movie night - you will love this!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You will love what this does for your movie night or when playing games. Easy to install - but you need to have the Philips Hue lights and bridge to make this work. They are updating the software all the time and making this even better, I can't believe this has been out for 2 years and I just found out about it! LOVE IT~

Pricey set-up but very cool product!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1st Sync Box I received directly from Phillips was a dud, had to go through major hoops with tech support to get returned, no exchange because they were out of stock, luckily BB had it in stock and it was delivered promptly. Set it up exactly like the previous defective item and worked perfectly right out of the box. Set up was simple, love the ambient lighting with my gradient light strips and 77” LG OLED. Very accurate, no lag. Definitely ups the immersion experience factor!!! Would not hesitate to get again… just wish it had an update to utilize HDMI 2.1 pass through at 120 Hz for my PS5.

A Blast!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Hue Play HDMI Sync Box is a great addition to my home theater. The box was simple to set up. I saw some complaints online about how it cannot be used with a sound bar but I had no problem connecting my Bose Cinemate 15 - I just run from the optical out of my TV into the optical in of the Bose, and my TV sends a copy of the audio from the HDMI to the optical output. I have really enjoyed the whole setup process as the results are quite gratifying.

Technology at its best
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great with my next gen gaming systems! No issues with the series X or PS5. I would also recommend using only audio quest 4K HDMI cables nothing below 48mbps so you don’t compromise your overall picture quality. I really enjoy watching the gradient strip go! Watching Godzilla fight King Kong was amazing. Once you set up an entertainment area with up to 10 hue lights your experience will be a lot more immersive

Nice effect, but pricey
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installation is a breeze, only made a bit harder because the power cable is too short. I had to get an extension, and like everything else in the Hue line, that wasn’t cheap. This works surprisingly well, though you’ll need to tweak what lights you want it to affect, because too many lights can easily get distracting. I found that only letting the lights behind the TV work made for the best experience. Taking one star off because the software implementation is still lacking. It would be much better, for instance, if it let you adjust brightness per light. Since there is only one overall brightness setting, some lights can overpower others and you just have to remove them from syncing.

Still unsure about this product.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been on the hue ecosystem for a while now and i thought with this there would be some major changes on the app for lights placement but it uses the same entertainment areas from the old app. I have 3 hue plays one on each side of the tv and one on the top, (i didn't quite get a good result for the light strip on the fireplace mantle which is essentially the bottom part of the tv). With videos that have top and bottom black bars the lights just stays white. Now, i have an xbox and an apple tv plugged in to the sync box, switching between inputs and cec hasn't been a problem and there are some convenient toggles in the app itself. The problem is when the sync box would crash randomly and i get the oldschool static tv noice and picture. 230 bucks just to experiment is just not worth the money.

Cool idea, terrible product with no remote
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This works great if you have one device - the lights are awesome, virtually no lag, and when gaming it really makes you feel like you’re on some kind of MLG esports stage with all the dramatic color changes. Very immersive. For movies and TV, I don’t prefer it because it’s fairly distracting, but still cool. The problem is that if you have more than one device, you will constantly be using the app to change inputs. There is no remote, or remote capability for use with something like a Harmony, so this is essentially an expensive HDMI switch that only works automatically when detecting an input or using the app, where the automatic input switching LITERALLY NEVER WORKS. Yes I know you have to have arc/control enabled, but my setup is an Apple TV 4K, a PS4 Pro, and an Xbox One X - none of these will consistently activate the product no matter what settings I change, meaning I am using the remote and an app for everything. Also the sync is constantly stuck on whatever the last input was so you have to turn the box off and on again to get it working. Try having anyone else use it, they need to get the app and sign in to your account, and unless they know the Hue setup they are clueless to work it. Terrible product overall for me, but again if you have one device to input maybe not a big deal for you - I’m returning it.

Posted .Hi Dave, thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear that the light sync is according to expectation. If it feels to immersive at some moments, we recommend changing the intensity or the brightness during these moments. We are launching the remote capability this spring, with which you can use any infra red remote to change inputs.

It does what it advertises
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It does what it says it will do. It adds immersion while watching movies. However, I wish this thing makes or follows explosion colors as well. Still loves that it adds immersion.

Entertainment Glow
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love it! Works great with everything I sync onto the tv, definitely added some excitement into watching movies and enjoy music videos or even just music alone! Only down fall is all the wiring I had to connect onto it, wish it would be Bluetooth and less wires! But it works great until they can come up with something better when it comes to having too many wires connected to the box I’m happy with my purchase.

I waited... and waited...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Until they offered something close to what i was getting from my television. It would make no sense to use a device when it limited you to no dolby vision, atmos etc etc. I am glad with the updates they have added features that are standard. The syncing works flawlessly. the only thing i would request is a Dusk to Dawn setting, as its located in an area that gets natural light and makes no sense to have the device turn on during these times.

Thank you Phillips!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely love this unit. There is one downside though..no Dolby vision support as of now. But they are proactively updating it's firmware. They just recently added HDR10+ support. All this is a licensing issue so just like HDR10+ hopefully soon will be updated. But that being said I honestly shut off Dolby vision in favor of the Hue lights because they bring much more to the table. You have to experience it to believe it. On the matter of price...if you are already invested in the Phillips hue ecosystem this is a MUST BUY!

So far I like it
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading all other surveys I was worried, but Hue is making me believe in this product so far. I like it so far, don’t need to use any PCs or laptops to have the lights react.
