I bought this to use with my Hue play lights behind my tv. The lights are aimed at the wall. It adds great effects for movie watching. The only downside is the content has to run through it so I had to buy a firestick to plug into it rather than just using the apps on my tv and I can’t use it with my Armos soundbar, so I have to choose one or the other.

I bought the light bars first, not knowing I needed the Sync Box too. I didn't want to spend $400 for this plus the light bars, but I did anyway, figuring I could return it if I didn't like it. I have 6 other hue light bulbs around the house already. I hooked it up this weekend and LOVE it! The experience watching TV/movies is enhanced so much. And, I can choose different light groups in case I want to set the whole house to music. There are four levels of intensity if it feels to flickery. I do not game, so don't know how well it works for that. I look forward to watching more stuff now! It would be nice if the apps (Hue bridge and Hue sync) didn't have to be separate. Also, when I chose all lights to synce throughout the house, the same 3D room showed up to lay them out instead of a house. I wasn't sure what to do there, but figure that would be hard as each customer would have to sortof create a house layout first.

Works well to match the colors. Does cause the sound to go out of sync with the picture so it has to be restarted and usually fixes it.

These lights are amazing for movie watching and old gen consoles but they have a huge flaw for “next gen” gaming. They only support 2k at 120fps or 4k 60fps. So you got to make the hard choice playing on downgraded graphics or not using them with your new gen console. I love my set up otherwise.

When this product worked, it was an incredible viewing experience. A new update effectively bricked the device and now it can no longer make connections to the Hue Bridge, and therefore just does not function at all. I'm hopeful for an update to fix this issue, but Phillips does not seem like they do things quickly.

Over all it’s a good product. It works well and was easy to set up. It’s a little frustrating at times to change from one HDMI to another.

Easy to setup, just plug and play. Only con so far is it takes 30-40 seconds for the PS5 to register on the screen after turning on from my remote. I have yet to use it while gaming, but Im sure it will perform just as good as it does watching movies.

The Hue Play Sync Box does exactly what you're looking for, sync your TV with your hue lights. It now thankfully supports both HDR10 and Dolby Vision so all HDR content is supported. The one draw back is that it uses it's own dedicated app on the phone, but other than that it's great. Easy to use and just a few minutes to set up

I decided to wait a while to post this review to see if I ran into the same issues others have reported & I'm surprised to say that I have not run into any thus far. The box preformed as it stated & really adds to the immersion. It is a costly investment for the overall effect but if you have a good entertainment set up this is definitely a great addition.

I love this device. Watching anything on TV is never-the-same afterwards. I highly recommend. I realize that the price is pretty steep when you start adding everything else in between. But well worth it. You will rewatch movies simply because it is a different experience.

Connected to Hue lights behind the TV. Works great with the Entertainment settings. Only use on input as my AV soundbar controls my inputs, but it is compatible with it. Support for 4K and Dolby Vision were added. Better than having to setup a Raspberry Pi and doing all the work to get it functional. But it is expensive.

Have used this for 6 months with my 49" Bravia TV for movies and video games. It's awesome. Expensive and worth every penny. Took off a star for 2 quirks given the price point. First, turning on the streaming stick will often flicker 3-4 times before locking in the video feed, and second there was an audio lag to my soundbar that I could never quite fully fix. Otherwise it makes me grin almost every time I watch something.

I wanted to buy this product when it first came out but I read the reviews which were mostly horrible and decided to hold off for a sale. I had some success with the free PC version and was very reluctant to pay $230 dollars for the hardware version, eventually I bought it on sale for $199 which was still too much. It took a while to figure out how to get it to work; I didn’t want to compromise some of the audio features that are said not to be supported by this product so I ran the ZONE 2 HDMI OUT of my receiver to the HDMI 1 input on the sync box. I have to play the same source on the main and secondary zones to get the effect however getting it to sync and stay synced has been irritatingly painful. I have 10 lights connected to a dedicated, wired hub specifically for this entertainment area and WiFi with a strong, consistent signal to the sync box, despite that, it still freezes, it desynchronizes for no reason and it is an absolute challenge to get it to sync again. I think if I was less curious about this product would have waited for the next version. I don’t plan on returning it, I’m still playing with it trying to make it work better because when it works right it is pretty cool.

The Philips Hue lights look great. Not sure if it was worth the price and the fact that you have to purchase 3 separate items just to get them to work. This being one of them as well as the light strip itself and the Philips bridge. again they look great but the effort of all three pieces as well as the cost of each item are kind of frustrating
