The philips hue play box is grossly overpriced for what it does. I bought this so I wouldn't have to have a PC in my theater setup anymore thinking it would work the same way as the computer software does. IT DOES NOT. this will sync with the colors on the screen OR the sound, NOT BOTH AT THE SAME TIME!!! The computer software does both at the same time and it's a far better effect. I'd suggest going that route if your intentions are to sync your lights with your screen

What makes this a four star is how pricey it is if it were 100$ less it’d be 5/5

I love the sync box. It is a little quirky to set up but the effect is so much fun. Don't purchase this and complain about interrupting your 4k signal. It is fine and well worth the effect.

Honestly I debated on getting this for a few months. I ended up getting it as a gift for my partner (justification) and it has surprised us both. It’s very responsive and allows Dolby Digital 5.1 surround to pass through with my Sonos Arc which honesty is the most important part. It really adds to the in home movie theater experience to have the picture jump off the screen onto the walls.

I pre-ordered this, it promised to be everything I ever wanted to get out of my hue lights. Well philips clearly released it too soon. Buggy, glitchy connectivity, pita. The sync app it poor also. Over the months they have released updates. And it works pretty much all the time, now. No 4K hdr passthrough when syncing lights. I am disappoint.

Can be laggy at times. No support for HDMI 2.1, VRR make it a pass. Very dependent on your home Wifi and connection to bridge - if any interference detected lights will stutter or not update fast enough.

Pricey yes. Do you need it no. BUT ITS FREAKING AWESOME! It controls your Hue lights perfectly with video! I love it. Not that hard to hook up. Worth it for every nerd:) like me I did find that the image quality get slightly degraded with the XBOX ONE that is hooked into this device

Great Product. If you have color hue lights already i feel that is well worth the steep price. It gives you a very immersive experience with Movies and video games. Set up is very easy, one thing to keep in mind, only 2 of the 4 ports will do the HDR pass through.

There was a missing plug in the box when I bought it. I ended up just buying a cheap version on Amazon that could plug-in and it worked perfectly and it looked super cool.

It’s a good product but you have to use the app to turn the box on before it will pass signal to the TV. Otherwise you won’t see TV. If your family doesn’t have the app to turn on the box, they won’t be able to watch TV. A bit annoying. The sync works well with no other complaints.

The HDMI sync box and gradient lighting are pricey but provide a much more immersive viewing experience… It was something I thought would be nice but always thought of it as a novelty until I had ot set up. While is it super $$$$ for what it is… I will say I was blown away on how it expands content. Also allows for general lighting ambience of room to Fit your mood. It’s a splurge but if you can afford it’s impressive. I will say it took a little Trial and error to get this set up with eARC/ Ambeo sound bar / OLED TV. I would honestly have to go look to see the order of operations I had to use to get everything working together. But it was more Than worth the trouble.

This box works as intended for the most part. Color changes are almost immediate for the most part. However, it does suffer from some of the same issues as other hdmi switches; slow to respond to input changes. You are sometimes forced to manually change between inputs which is frustrating at times. Good product overall. Definitely much easier than hooking your computer up to your media system but not without its shortcomings.

Sure the Sync Box is pricy (at times you might be able to snag a deal), but consider it for function and the sticker shock will lessen. If you don't have a PC to use the software for free this is your only Philips branded option at this point to sync your lights with media. That said, it adds several HDMI ports to the limited inputs on televisions these days which depending on the brand can run you ~$80.

I'm enjoying the sync box and gradient light strip, along with other hue products that I selected thru the Hue Sync app. It's like the movies or shows that I'm watching are spilling out into my living room. It's cool.

I really love this product. I was waiting for it to get HDR+ and Dolby Atomos support. Thankfully it syncs with all my Phillips Hue lights, both old and new. I highly recommend for anyone that is trying to upgrade their home theater system. You won't regret it, trust me!
