These light’s are awesome. I use them for movies and music. The set up was fairly easy. It makes for a better movie experience.

I did not have any issues setting this up. The only problem I have with the sync is that you have to run a separate app from the original Philips hue app. This should all be in one app.

Really like the hue sync and how it can be used on party mode and have the lights dance with the music. Movies you can have all the lights reflect from the tv. Great product.

It works as advertised and was very easy to setup.

It works - can't run the any of the devices without it. I haven't had a chance to use it yet because I'm waiting on the remaining lights, lamps, and other devices to run the entire package.

I had my doubts about how this would work and look, but wow.... It really does had depth to the movie experience with the experience of colors during a TV show or movie.

I bought the sync box 2 days after it came out. A few lighting in my entire house. There’s nothing wrong with the functionality of the sink box once it’s set up. It previously had control issues switching between inputs. Phillips hue recently released an update to the software. Every issue I had with it has been fixed by hue. Hue makes top quality smart lighting products, everyone I know that has different brands of smart lights is always jealous about the functionality when they see my house. Some people might complain about the price of this device, but for what it does and how flawlessly it works, I think it is worth every penny. I like it so much I own 2.

This was enjoyable for syncing my lights to music or movies; however, all your HDMI inputs have to be put into the unit to go to your TV so it can sync it. Therefore, the unit has to be on for your devices to work. I just didn’t like this.

I love watching my movies and playing my video games on this. Super emersive!!!

Not the best connectivity ever and barely works with some streaming sticks but when it works it works

Yes this lil box works pretty ok,but it took me 2 days to actually get it sync to my lights to work properly, worth the time tho

The sync box is great, when it works. I’ve had issues with it communicating with the app. After powering on, the app “might” connect to the sync box; however, if it does, it’s only for about 30 seconds. If I want to make any changes on the app, it has to be done quickly within this 30 second window. After that, the app disconnects and refuses to reconnect indefinitely... the progress wheel just spins there trying to connect while all the buttons on the app are grayed out. At first, I thought it might be defective, so i called Hue customer service and tech support. After a lengthy diagnostic, the phone rep determined it was defective, so I returned it to Best Buy. I waited a week, but no other sync boxes were being delivered to any BB stores within a 50 miles radius, so I had to purchase another one online and have it delivered to BB. It eventually came in, but wouldn’t you know, this new one had the exact same problem the previous one had. It reminds me of technology from the 80s, where if you got some electronics to work, you were told not to move or even touch it cuz it was so wonky and unstable that you never knew what caused the problem or solution. Kinda like adjusting a TV broadcast antenna. This Philips stuff is far too expensive to be this wonky. Currently, my sync box works cuz I have it set to power on automatically when my xbox powers on. But I can’t change any settings; it’s permanently set to “Game Mode” on “High”. I can’t set it to music or video; those buttons are grayed out and unreachable. Why sell such undependable tech Philips? Get your act together. Why did u discontinue the Ambilight TVs from a few years ago? I still have a 42” in my bedroom from 2007 that works just fine. The lights were already factory installed and sync perfectly, .....but u had to tear that success apart and replace it with this new crap that’s more expensive and less dependable... I’m fairly disappointed with this expensive purchase.

It does some weird resolution/mode swapping loops sometimes when changing content frequently while in sync mode. Fixing it involves shutting the device off with the app, turning it back on, and restarting sync. Other than that, fantastic device.

This Philips Hue Sync Box now allows me to change the LED Hue lights in my house matching my TV, video games and music. A little pricey to purchase but very Awesome to experience!

The Philips Hue Play HDMI is great for creating a light show while watching TV. It allows you to plug in your HDMI cable from different sources and reacts to the colors on the screen.

works ok sometimes stops syncing and is not compatible with 2016 version of dolby vision. you have to turn it off from your tv or receiver and it is annoying

Price is high but I really haven't found a better option out there. Family movie night has a new dimension with this in the mix and my kids love it. I have LED strips behind our TV as well as in overhead can lights. Everything sync'd to the movie, video game, or music is great.

Overall a good product there are some quirks that you have to get used to but once you figure them out and know that occasionally you have to reset by turning on and off it’s OK it does work well when it’s working and provides a great atmosphere to your movie viewing

Great concept but needs improvements. I like the idea but the functionality is not as good as I expected. Setting the light using your phone on the app works good but I did not like the way the lights worked with the HDMI sync box.
