Hue Sync box was everything I was wanting
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not only does this act as a HDMI hub for your setup which helps not have so many cables into your tv but the way it syncs all your hue lights to what you’re watching or listening to is so much fun and helps give an immersive experience

Meh. Expensive and works well with Apple tv
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overpriced and I didn’t know this doesn’t work with smart TVs. You have to run everything through the box and it won’t recognize gradient play streaming through the tv.

Amazing but has connection issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all I would like to say that this thing is amazing! Watching movies and playing video games are so much more immersive and enjoyable. It really does add another layer to the experience. The colors are vivid and match up perfectly to whatever is being played on screen. There is zero lag and everything is fluid and incredible. However, this thing has a difficult time connecting to my wi-fi network. Every time I want to use the Sync Box I have to manually unplug the box and plug it back in to get it to connect to my wi-fi network. While not quite a deal breaker, it is extremely annoying. I have tried disabling my 5-G wireless band but that does nothing to alleviate the problem. I would have given this thing 5 stars if there were no connection issues.

A great product, works nearly flawlessly
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been waiting on the Sync Box to release and finally got mine. Its a Phillips Hue product so set-up is very easy and integration was seamless. The latest firmware update has improved the Sync Box capability a ton. The Sync Box works just as advertised; mine is controlling 3 light bars and 3-5 other A19 and table lamp - the lighting during movies is very immersive. The only issue I've noticed is that I'm having some issues getting the hdmi pass through working properly...but I think I can get mitigated by connect a USB cable from the Sync Box to the TV that will tell the box to start when the TV is powered on. If you have Philips Hue products, this is a amazing addition. The Synchronization of your lighting to movies, games and music is so cool, this is how it always should have been...The Phillips Hue Sync Box will make it so you won't want to watch movies anywhere else. Highly recommend!

Great addition.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's an excellent addition to the living room. It does what it was intended to do. Watching movies has created a good atmosphere for the family to enjoy. The price is on the high side so i waited on an almost new purchase. Its a little learning curve for more integration with other devices (apple homekit) but it does as intended. I can only recommend if already invested in philips hue products for excellent outcome.

Great BUT what you need to know before you buy
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it and was ready to return after an hour watching TV.....BUT not anymore!!!! 1. You can’t play directly from the tv which is a bummer but when you really think about it, makes sense, however I have a problem with philips being shady about it almost trying not to disclose this info. So you need Apple TV, fire stick, roku, PS4 or a similar external device. 2. I have 3 hue lights around my living room. Used those and this was the reason I wanted to return. Barely noted change of the lights. Felt it was worthless and at most would have paid $50 for the box....BUT! 3. ADD Hue play lights!!! Wow it now does what it’s supposed to and the result is very nice. You can see lights shift with scene/light change. Same experience with gaming. Now I would say it’s worth it! Now the “entertainment” (the ones you set up for your entertainment center in the Hue app) lights turn on automatically when my tv with Amazon fire stick boots up.

Enhances movies and games to the next level
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This box is awesome how it can sync up your phillips lights to anything coming out of the TV when hooked up thru it. I would have gave it 5 stars but it doesn't support 120hz (just 60hz) not a big deal for most and its overpriced in my opinion.

Immersive Experience
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitant at first, but ended up purchasing this. This provides a nice immersive experience in watching movies or playing games. Setup was fairly easy, though it did take a couple of tries at connecting to the wifi. I have had no issues since setup.

Unnecessary but fun accessory
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This totally falls into the category of hard to justify but fun to have. Received one as a gift. The lights work best when located behind you (in direct field of vision can be a bit distracting). Creates the most immersive experience when watching things like concerts or events with lots of lighting effectives (arena competitions, fireworks). Makes you feel like you're there! For movies, ones with less sudden camera and lighting changes are great with lower intensity and brightness giving it a nice pop without stealing the show. Biggest complaint is that it doesn't seamless support multiple input switching. Will have to do some research to see if that's an advanced configuration but for now switching back to set top cable box is a bit clunky. FireTV / Alexa command is pretty spot on though.

Expensive, but a fun purchase for the family
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product, happy that I finally pulled the trigger and purchased the Sync Box. Price still makes me squirm a bit, however, it is the most stable light control platform I have been able to find, so I'll pay the price. Hooked it up to my primary TV with other HUE products: 2 light bars, 3 LED strips, 3 RGB lights. Run it through my AVR via HDMI out 2 in order to allow my AVR to still control my aux systems. To enable the SYNC I turn on my ZONE 2 on the AVR and set volume to zero (because i also use ZONE 2 for outdoor speakers). Works great! Have used on all three settings (music/movie/game), all three perform well. Requires tweaking to control the rate of change and movement so it isn't overkill. Great product for dance/dj party with the kids.

Awesome product. Needs software updates.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this thing for a little over a month now and am overall satisfied with it. It's pretty easy to set up and basically works the same way as the other Hue products. It requires a separate app from the normal Hue app which is a little disappointing, but definitely not a deal breaker. One of the best features is that you can sync controls for the Box to your TV remote so there's no need to turn on the box with the physical button. Some devices will even turn on the box automatically when powered on! The only problem I have with this is that sometimes it just randomly turns itself off while I'm playing Xbox. I tried to do a little research and found that the box is not compatible with HDR 10, which is what I have my Xbox One X set to, so that could be the issue. Overall solid product.

Gives the living room a new vibe
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good piece of equipment to change the vibe of a room. Works smoother than I thought and lights respond in real time to what’s on the screen. Install was fairly easy. Hate that it costs so much though. A cheaper price point and it gets 5 stars.

Fun Sync “Toy”
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best way to make this work is to have an AV receiver with 2 outputs. This ensures you are sending the tv all Atmos/HDR10 capabilities as this switch doesn’t have all the features. Setup is quick and easy. The app does well in adding it in since it’s Bluetooth. It syncs quickly with probably 100-200ms lag in light shifting. I don’t recommend using the maximum color shifting as it gets pretty crazy shifting colors as fast as it can, but there is a gradual setting that is pretty decent. For the price, it’s needs more polishing. It needs to support all features for 4K Atmos passthru for persons who don’t have the ability receiver and second HDMI output. The price point I would feel more comfortable at is $100, than $225, since there aren’t any lights included. If it was 225 with 2 of the play lights that would be best.

The good and the bad.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent syncing...kind of convoluted set up. Once you manage to get it set up, things are great. The price is too high for what you get considering how much you are spending on the lights for it to sync.

Does what it should!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great for syncing up lights to music, games or video on your TV. I use it specifically for video games and it works as intended. Easy to set up too. A little steep on the price but it’s the best one on the market.

I wasn't sure before, but now I'm a believer
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I bought i wasn't exactly sure how the setup and integration would go. In fact there's a separate app from the hue app that we use for lighting. But it only took about 20 minutes from unboxing, installation, app setup, and on to watching movies with synced lights. The hue play lights do a good job of illuminating the wall behind our tv and the sync keeps it running exactly with anything that is on the tv screen. Couldn't be happier, even though it was a bit pricey.

Beautiful with a Price
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Hue sync box demands top dollar but you get astounding and vibrant colors that will enhance your display tenfold. However theres major set backs in exchange which unfortunately broke the deal for me. Right off the bat theres a hefty price tag, which is strange given that the sync box is coming up at 5 years old and is falling behind with running current gen displays. In addition, the box cannot sync with native smart TV apps, which is a huge shame because when hooked up through a console, most streaming apps run at a lower refresh rate compared to my TVs native apps. Overall I think Philips would be better off releasing a more powerful iteration to match the competition, as well as fill in the trench of workarounds many have had to go through to fix fhese issues

READ Dolby Vision HDR 10+ Work Around
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Product works great enough said. Now the important part....There is a workaround to get DV and HDR 10+ by utilizing a receiver that supports both formats and has 2 HDMI Outs. I have the Sync Box taking advantage of the second HDMI out. Nothing is plugged into the output on the Sync Box. Everything else is plugged into one of the inputs on the receiver. Receiver does all the processing which will reduce/eliminate lag and will properly pass through all formats, signals, and sync flawlessly with the lights. I'm also not limited to just 4 devices using the Sync Box. My set up is as follows. HDMI OUT 1 to TV HDMI OUT 2 to SYNC BOX HDMI IN 1 - DirecTV HDMI IN 2 - 4K Player HDMI IN 3 - Xbox One X HDMI IN 4 - PS4 Pro HDMI IN 5 - Shield TV HDMI IN 6 - Apple TV All devices are synced with my lights, they all work with DV when content supports DV. I don't have a TV that supports HDR 10+ but it's safe to assume since I have DV working with the lights then I can say the same for HDR 10+. I hope this helps potential buyers.
