My German foil shaver is getting old and a friend recommended I try a shaver with rotary heads. The Norelco Phillips 2500 is a good entry point to rotary shavers. At first, I was put off by the long initial charge time (NiMH) and the separate power dongle, but I found the shaver gives a close shave and doesn’t require going over to catch missed areas so the net is a faster and closer shave. I found that an electric pre-shave really improves the comfort of the shave. It’s a bit noisy, but overall the closeness and speed of the shave results in a positive recommendation.

    Good razor, but not exceptional

The Norelco 2500 is a perfectly good razor, but it's not exceptional. Honestly, I didn't get the closest shave using it. I found the pop-up trimmer kept wanting to close itself, and the razor took several passes to clear two days' worth of stubble. The razor also had trouble following the contours of my neck and left hairs completely untouched even after several passes. That being said, it does the job well enough; and I didn't cut myself to ribbons the way that I would with a manual razor. I would recommend this device.

ok so I love Philips shavers. but always have 1 thing I don't like. that is that all my other shavers are waterproof so you can use them in shower (don't care as I use it prior) but with that, they make it so you cant use if plugged in. so I give them 4 stars. this one, I am giving 5 stars because you can use it while plugged in. I love that. my kids are always now using my shaver, and a lot of times I don't use it for a week and so when I do, they are always low on battery. so I am glad to have one that I can use now regardless. I had not shaved in a week, I get a good amount of face hair in that time. I used this shaver and it did the job great and did not pull at my facial hair. that said, I was disappointed in the beard trimmer though. most don't really work that well anyways so it worked like most do. but for me, that was not something I was impressed with. I also would have liked a bag or something for it. so although I did not like the beard trimmer, and that it did not have a bag. I did like how the shaver itself felt (again that was also after a week of not shaving). I most definitely enjoy that it can be used plugged in or not. so yes I do recommend this shaver. and glad I have one for myself.

I had expectations that may have been a bit high... my 12+ year old microfoil shaver has done a great job keeping my face smooth, I've replaced the foil and blades regularly but the battery finally gave out. It still runs OK on the cord but that is a pain. The Philips Norelco Shaver 2300 seemed to be a good option, the price was right and I had never had a triple head shaver so decided to give this a try. After a few days of use, I have found myself going back to my old shaver to finish off since the Philips doesn't cut nearly as close. It may be the design, I have heard other guys complain about how close an electric shaver gets and I may understand myself, now! The Philips doesn't have any negative effects on my skin, and is very quiet when running. It uses the same charging cord as my beard trimmer, so that is convenient! It does take a long time to charge, but the light on the front lets you know when it is done. If you have never used anything that works better, this would probably be just fine. I tend to have a 5-o'clock shadow by mid afternoon, so I hate it when I start the day being able to feel it already! If it were not for the price, I would not say this is even an option, but at a third the price of what I am used to using, I guess it fills a need.

The Norelco Shaver 2300 is a great shaver that does a wonderful job on close-up shaves. Additionally, this shaver does a great job on removing of stubborn unwanted hairs, stubble, and wild loose hairs. Suffice to say, if you are in need of a good clean shave, then this shaver may be the answer for you!

The Philips Norelco Shaver 2300 gave me a very smooth shave, though I did spend probably 2-3 times more time shaving than I normally would with a manual razor. Some advantages over a manual razor though, include no cuts/nicks (no blood) and I could "hear" the hair being cut so I could tell where an area being covered was clear or mostly clear. It also seemed to get into areas (for example, close to nose) where it is more difficult with a manual razor. Also, no shaving gel was required for this (which could be a cost savings), though I understand there are products designed to help with electric shaver shaving as optional, but not required, supply purchases. I was happy to see that despite the fact that this was 'not' the wet model (you don't want to use this one in the shower) it does support cleaning with water which I did try (ran under faucet while open)-- also the blades both flip up and even can come off entirely (and back on, of course) with relative ease. The razor is quiet, but gives a good shave.

I hesitantly replaced my old norelco with this model and was not disappointed. It works as good if not better and has a long run time on the battery.

Used this electric shaver 3-4 times so far. Smooth cut for sure, but not as nice of a feel in hand as my 8-year-old Norelco. Feels cheap in hand and is longer in size. Hopefully it will hold up for years though.

This latest unit is about 3/4" longer than the last one I received and is made in the Philippines. It uses a NiCad battery and charges very quickly (less than 20 minutes. Shaves fine and is able to grab the long hairs that escape other electric razors. Its motor speed is a little slower than the 3552 but strong enough to get the job done. Also the cord is a tight fit and it did not charge at first until it was fully seated into the razor. Still my favorite brand for the last 5 decades.

This shaver is very lightweight, yet powerful. It easily handles even 2 day stubble without a hiccup. I like that you can still use it while it's plugged in and charging.

Overall, I'm not very impressed with this razor. Great for a beginner, but not every day use. The price is fair, you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to electric razors, I would recommend spending a little more money if you wish to use an electric as your every day razor. Right out of the box, this razor is very light, but also comes across as cheaply made. The charger is standard for most electric razors. I find that the razor does a good enough job, but not a nice smooth shave that one would want. No matter how many times you go over the area, it still leaves some stubble. I shave my face and my head and it just doesn't get close enough for me to be satisfied. I have not tried it with shaving cream as i never use shaving cream with an electric razor. I have most certainly used better quality ones with better outcomes, but they do cost much more. For the price point, it is a decent razor. Great for traveling or as your first electric razor to see if you like using one, more of a beginner electric razor. But if you're an every day shaving kinda guy, I recommend spending a bit more and getting a better quality razor.

Super quiet electric shaver. Smooth operation, doesn't irritate my skin and provides a clean, close shave. Very easy to clean and recharges quickly. Only complaint (if there really is one since it's a shaver, not a trimmer) is that the pop-up trimmer is awkward to position and use and doesn't provide any type of "guard" like you would use on a mustache or beard. Other than that, it works great.
