Good shaver for price, a definite must buy for presents!

I contacted Phillips Norelco after I prepared a review of this product and submitted it to them as I was amazed with their response. Rather than post my review so others could see my concern for the way the shaver performed they indicated that they wouldn't post my comments as it could impact sales. The razor requires going over the same portion of your face multiple times. I am over 65 and my beard doesn't grow very fast and it doesn't grow very thick. I had kept an inexpensive razor in my car for many years for maintenance purposes. I shave with a Shick Extreme 3 and shaving creme every 1-2 days but sometimes want an electric razor for keeping in the car. This Norelco razor for one reason or another doesn't do the job. Norelco suggested a higher grade set of blades to be installed in this razor. I tried that and it didn't eliminate the problem. I do not believe the battery is strong enough and the rotation speed is not enough to get the job done. After they refused to publish my review I contacted Norelco's customer service and they suggested I upgrade to the 8000 or 9000 series which are far more powerful. They indicated the razor I had purchased was a low end razor and didn't always meet the customer's needs. If this is the case they probably shouldn't sell it at all or indicate for young adults first shaving. Doesn't make sense as my beard is minimal. That would result in my going from a $60 razor to a $250 razor and that's far more than I want to spend for the way I use it. Great solution for the company but not for the user. Either the unit is defective or it is not built well. They never offered to send a prepaid envelope to bring the razor back to the factory and inspect it. I would avoid this razor.

I recently purchased this razor on sale and used it twice. First, this must be the very bottom of the Norelco line as it feels really light & cheap. Second, the performance is not good. There is no way I could use this razor on 2 or 3 days beard growth then walk out of my house. I went at 3 day stubble for a good 10 full minutes and the results were kinda sad. The best case is this razor helps knock down multi-day stubble so shaving with a regular razor isn't so uncomfortable. I had to manually shave immediately after each time I used this Norelco. This is a case of you get what you pay for. Personally, spending the money on a supply of throw away disposable blades is probably money better spent. Just saying.

This shaver does a fair job. It is very simple and easy to clean. Can't beat it for the price.
