Philips Norelco Shaver 6800 The Philips series 6800 Shaver is a nice shaver that is very simple to use and does a good job. For those familiar with Norelco shavers the Series 6800 is a very standard design with the classic three floating heads. If you like this design and want to replace your current version, this will work well. For those coming from the common straight electric razor designs the floating heads that Philips has offered for many years is definitely work a look. Over the years I have used both designs and they both have their merits. For me getting a good shave on my neck under my chin has always been where electric shavers of either design still don’t do well. I find the straighter design to be more natural for me personally. But it is close between either type in how well they do. The Series 680 is very confrontable in my hand I actually think I can shave faster with the floating heads than the straighter designs. And it also seems to me this razor is quieter than any I have had before. I like that but it makes the shaver feel underpowered. Not a thought I usually associate with any shaver I have ever used. The shaver has good battery life and Philips has it rated for a 50-minute run time. That has worked out for me to be about 3 or 4 shaves before needing a recharge. There is a battery indicator on the shaver that appears to be very accurate from my experience. What I would have liked to have seen included is a charging base. That should come with any rechargeable electric razor and it is missing on this model. Philips does have a Series 6900 model that does come with the base. The shaver is waterproof so you can use it wet or dry. I use mine dry and it seems to be easier to keep clean used that way. The Shaver does come with a trimmer but like the missing base it doesn’t come with a travel case. Overall, I do like the shaver and more important the shave I get but, I do mis those extra few parts.

      Hi there Kathy,

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave your review behind here. We're sorry to hear that your husband is not entirely satisfie with the results he has been getting the the shaver. We would like to share some tips with you that could improve his shaving experience.
If he is a new user of the Philips Shaver, keep in mind that the skin needs to adapt to the electric razor. Allow an adjustment period of two to three weeks with the new Philips Shaver. While shaving, it is important to be gentle, especially if he has sensitive skin prone to irritation. Do not press the shaver too hard against the skin. Only apply a gentle pressure which makes the facial hair stand upright and makes it easier for the shaver blades to catch and cut them. Gentle pressure also reduces friction between the shaver and the skin, resulting in a more comfortable experience.
When using the Philips Shaver with a foam or shaving gel, take care of the following tips:
      • Always wash the face with water and soap before you start shaving.
      • Apply a favorite shaving gel or foam to the skin.
      • Start shaving by moving the shaver in circular movements over the skin. This ensures that all hair growing in different directions are removed from the skin.
When shaving without water, please take care of the following things:
      • Firstly, always wash the face with some water and soap and then dry it properly.
      • Allow at least 15 minutes for the skin to dry completely before starting shaving.
      • Move the shaver on the skin in circular movements to cut all hair growing in different directions.

We do hope this helps. Please feel free to get in touch via social media if you have any further questions. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook (@Philips) and Twitter (@PhilipsCare). Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further.

Have been eyeing electric razors for a while now, but old habits die hard as I've used disposable razors since I was in the military. No tears shed if my bag is stolen, and I could just toss a couple extras if I knew I was going somewhere. Having switched now, I don't think I could ever go back. Being able to dry shave when I'm late getting ready for work is amazing. The waterproof nature of this razor means you can use it in the shower for even more convenience. The triple blade design works well, and I've not experienced any negatives with this shaver at all. The rechargeable battery lasts long enough that I don't find myself getting annoyed at having to recharge. Highly recommend.

The head comes out of base number of times. It is more when skin is dry. I have been using other models by same manufacturer but never had this problem. I would definitely like to talk to Norelco's customer service for this defective product.

I went from a cheap $40 Norelco shaver to this and the old one was better in every way. This one doesn’t shave as close, takes longer to shave, and causes more irritation than the cheap $40 shaver. Just don’t even bother with this if you were hoping for a better shave.

      Hi Brad,

Thank you for your valuable review. We're sorry to hear that the Philips Norelco didn't meet up your expectations. For the best results on skin comfort, pre-trim your beard if you have not shaved for 3
days or longer before using the appliance. Move the shaving heads over your skin in circular movements to catch all hairs growing in different directions. Make sure each shaving head is fully in contact with the skin. Exert gentle pressure for a close, comfortable shave.
Note: Do not press too hard, as this can cause skin irritation.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch via social media. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook and Twitter. Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further.

I returned this because I didn’t like it. It never seemed like the blades were turning fast enough. I guess that’s just the way rotary razors are, but I didn’t like it. Also, very difficult to shave under your nose and up next to side burns. Just wasn’t for me.

Features: The Norelco Shaver 6800 is a nice beginning rotary shave kit. It comes with the Share unit, a charging cord, a click on precision trimmer, and a cleaning brush. The shaving unit is powered by a Li-Ion battery with a 50-minute run time. The shaver allows for either as wet shave or a dry shave as the user desires. Usage Impressions: My experience is that this unit works very well for light to medium shave needs. My first use was an attempt to take off about a month of by beard growth – something that I found the be a challenge. Since the first-use, I have used it for more regular shaving needs and with a little bit of learning I have adjusted the shave technique for a rotary shaver to obtain nice close shaves. The included precision trimmer is a nice accessory that takes care of one’s sideburns and other challenging spots. This shaver is a good addition for those with light to medium shave needs no matter who the user is. My wife even used it to clean up some spot where she has some hair growth and she felt it was wonderful for taking care of her needs also. Pros: 50-minute run time, precision trimmer, convenience, attachment capability. Cons: Not good for heavy shave needs.

    Great Razor

I am a female who unfortunately has a bit of hair on her face. I say this at the outset, not because it’s not embarrassing, but because I want to reach out to others who may have the same problem. I have tried many types of electric razors from many different brands over the years. Some marketed toward males, some toward females. I never found one that worked for me. Men can have a little stubble or a “5-o-clock shadow”, but women? Absolutely not. If the razor wasn’t close enough, then I’d have to go over it with a blade-style razor anyway, which irritated my skin. The irritation was almost as embarrassing as the hair itself. This model razor is the first electric razor that I have tried that acts like a standard blade razor. It’s easy to use, does not irritate my skin, and cuts very close. I didn’t feel like there was still visible stubble remaining. I highly recommend this razor.

The razor is comfortable and easy to use. I liked the shave, but I have had closer from other razors in the past. When you get ready to clean the head, there is a little learning curve to get it off the razor. After you figure how to do it, it is not bad. Overall a good razor for the money.

In the box: The Norelco S6880 shaver comes with a charging cord, separate trimmer attachment, and small brush. There is no carrying case or stand. The S6880 provides a good shave. If that’s all you need, this is a great shaver for you. The separate trimmer attachment is OK for a quick cleanup on the road, but does not replace a dedicated trimmer for regular grooming. Cleaning the shaver heads is done by rinsing the entire assembly under hot, running water. I much prefer my old Norelco that had flip-up heads for a more thorough cleaning.
