It makes me very nervous, but will do a good job if you go very slow and keep it in a good angle. What's a good angle? I'm still trying to figure it out. Maybe then I won't get nicked. Underarms is also tricky. However, flat surfaces are fine and provide a clean shave. As for the trimmer, you will need to keep the trim piece on, otherwise it will bite you worse than the shaver end. I've tried other products, this one seems to be a tiny bit better (and more expensive) than most. Good luck!
