One week can change your life (or not)
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using a straight razer for many years. Ocassionally, I’ve tried an electric as they’re faster and easier to use. Each time, I’ve found the razer didn’t do nearly as good a job as the cartridges. When this model came out from Phillips, I thought it might be time to give it another try. The cost was very reasonable to start with. I’d focused on entry level razers as I really wanted something basic. There were two pleasant surprises off the bat: 1) It charges from a USB plug. This means it’s easier to charge on the go when I travel. It has a long life battery as well with at least a couple of weeks daily shaving on a single charge. 2) There’s no razer burn. Every electric razer I’ve tried before has left me with bumps on my neck. This is the most sensitive area of my face. I’d even started using sensitive skin shaving cream with my cartridge razer because of the burn and break outs. With this razer, I haven’t had any rash and the hair is also neatly taken off. I can’t say that this shaves as close as a cartridge razer, however. It’s almost there, but not quite. While it feels smooth when wet, as soon as my skin dries, I can feel the slight sandpaper which is the hair under my face. With my cartridge razer, it’s closer to 2 hours after my shave before my face feels like that. The flip side is that for daily shaves before work, this Phillips unit is significantly faster than the cartridge, it doesn’t leave any nicks or cuts, and doesn’t require much in the way of clean up. It’s also more convenient for travel as I don’t have to get a smaller can of shaving cream to get through the airport. There will still be occasions when I use a razer blade. For day to day usage, however, Phillips has found another convert.

A great cordless shaver that can be used wet & dry
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Always loved Norelco cordless shavers always reliable especially when you replace the blades yearly. I've always been a fan of Norelco cordless shavers, especially ones that you can use in the shower or shaving your face when wet. They work great and always give a good shave whether you're doing touch up or shaving in the shower. The shaver comes with the usual sideburn trimmer on the back as well as a carrying bag and a USB charging cable but no USB power brick, it seems norelco's following the smartphone industry removing the power brick. Thankfully I have numerous Norelco trimmers and shavers so I have plenty of extra Norelco charging cables with a included power supply that work with this trimmer. This works great shaving dry or wet I've used it multiple times the blades are nice and sharp and get every hair leaving none behind, with its 5 axis turning head it gets in every spot on my neck and throat where I've had other cordless trimmers that have had issues are just a pain to use to get every single hair on your face and neck. Hopefully this turns out to be a rigorous trimmer as my other norelco's having the past as I love to use them in the shower, I seem to get less razor burn that way versus shaving dry.

Great Shaver
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you’re looking for a lightweight dependable electric shaver then the Philips Norelco 3600 is a great choice. It provides a smooth and clean shave and doesn’t irritate my skin like some other razors or electric shavers have. I travel quite often and so the travel pouch was a nice touch too. There is a cover provided for the shaver head so you can keep the travel pouch clean. On the front of the shaver are three LED lights that provide an indication of the battery level. The charging cable has a USB-A connector to connect to a power block although oddly, one was not provided in the box. It would have been nice to use USB-C now that is the common standard. I don’t even know where I have a USB-A charger anymore although I had one on a laptop charger so I’m good to go. The connector on the shaver itself appears to be proprietary and so don’t loose the cable. As an incentive for registering the device, you’ll receive 30% off any Philips Norelco product and so don’t discard the registration card.

Solid Shaver with Mixed Upgrades
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Philips Norelco Shaver 3600 is a solid shaver solution with some mixed upgrades. I’ve been using Norelco shavers for decades and have yet to find one that does not produce a good, clean electric shave. They’ve simply dialed in what’s currently the best electric solution to a daily shave at an affordable price. They do offer some higher-priced solutions which are exceptional, but those in the range of the 3600 are just plain good. As far as a great daily shave, the 3600 is another solid product. However, I do have one gripe regarding the 3600 and that is the charging solution. Being a long-time user of Norelco shavers I’m familiar with the unique connector all of my units have used. For some reason, the 3600 brings a change that is only halfway towards being useful - so it’s a nuisance for me instead. Although it retains nearly the same unique configuration for plugging into the unit as prior units have used, it introduces a notch so that I cannot use my previous charger interchangeably, as I’m used to doing. Not only that, but it does not come with a charging unit, only a cord that goes from a standard USB to the Norelco connector (in this case only fitting into the 3600). Why? This creates the need to keep a USB charger block and the new, proprietary cord with me. This is a blunder on Norelco’s part which I hope they will correct soon. The best solution would be to change their unique configuration and replace it with something standard like a USB-C connection - or leave it as it has been. The thing is, Norelco shavers are great and long-lasting. So I assume there’s a need to create some kind of upgrades in order to induce fresh sales. With the 3600, I like the enhanced feel of the grip, the improved release-switch for cleaning, and the subtle style accents and custom shave-head cover. If only they hadn’t tried to ‘upgrade’ the charging solution - or had gone all the way. I heartily recommend Norelco shavers, but have mixed feelings about the 3600.

Constantly improving decades old tech
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a guy, you have 3 basic options for shaving; straight blade razors, foil screen razors, and the rotary head razors. I’ve used Norelco razors for years. Each time I buy a new one, it is like seeing an old friend again. Not much has changed. Not that it is necessarily bad. I’ve tried nearly every way to shave throughout my years. I’m in no way coordinated enough to use a straight blade razor on a regular basis, not to mention, plain ol’ lazy. While they hands-down provide the closest shave, using them is time consuming, requires prep, and most of all, coordination. Something I’ve never been accused of having. Foil razors provide a decent shave and are a direct competitor to the Norelco, but for me they just don’t work. They provide a nice, smooth, clean shave on my face, but can’t cut it (literally) on my neck. They leave too many whiskers untouched and trying to get those whiskers becomes such a chore that I would have been better off with a straight blade. Not to mention the razor burn. I’ve always found Norelco products to be the best compromise of all the solutions on the market. Every new iteration of the Norelco’s prove to shave your face just a little closer and better than the last. The gap between the rotaries and the straight blades have closed enough over the years that straight blades to me, just aren’t worth the hassle. The “5D” pivoting head works well to follow the contours of your face, neck, and jaw line. Light years ahead of my old Norelco’s where only the blades flexed a little on a stationary head. Now that Norelco has water-proofed their razors to the point you can use them wet or dry, the closeness gap has decreased significantly. As has the overall comfort level of shaving. A little soap and or shave lotion in the shower virtually eliminates any form of skin irritation. The ability to use it with a rotary razor, in the shower is game changing. Rotary head razors always used to leave my skin feeling itchy and irritated, no so much now that I don’t have to shave dry all the time. The new 3600 is an evolutionary step forward from the outgoing 3500. Most everything about the 3500 carries over to the new one. One of those, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. All the key features from the 3500 are still intact, including the 5D pivoting head, wet and dry shaving ability, and the 1-hour rapid charge. Anyone that has ever used or owned a rotary head razor will have no issues figuring it out. The trimmer for your sideburns is still intact, as is the flip open head for cleaning. Things that I remember my dad’s old Norelco having decades ago. The only real flaw I can find with the Norelco 3600 is the charging cable. The 3600 charges via a standard USB-A charger. However, instead of a standardized USB (micro, mini, USB-C) connection on the other end, they chose to use a 2-pin connector. While this has been the mainstay for Norelco for years, it also means another charging cable I must take with me on vacation. Norelco missed an opportunity to utilize a standard USB connection, simplifying charging and traveling. Aside from the one small quibble, there isn’t much not to like about the new Norelco 3600. Recommended.

Great shaver but...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've got a pretty sensitive face and usually resort to good ol' fashion shaving cream and razor blades while showering. In the past I have tried and abandoned electric razors because of razor burn. I've tried a few times to jump to electric razors but didn't stick with them because facial skin sensitivity. What drew me to the Philips Norelco 3600 is the ability to use gel or cream and able to use it at the sink or shower. I don’t have to give up my favorite shaving gel which helps prevent the shaver burn I’ve experienced in the past with other razers. Cleaning the razor is simple. Pop the screen and run under water and then give it a good shake. The travel case is a bit of a disappointment and not a consideration for the purchase of this shaver. It offers little protection to the shaver but more of keeping any stubble in the shaver from getting on clothing when tossed in luggage. The shaver is supplied with a USB-A charging cable and no charger itself. While I understand that most folks have a handful of chargers with smartphones those are quickly going away. You can plug into a laptop to charge but that's really not convenient in my opinion. Of course they will happily sell you the optional charger. I even rummaged around and found the charger from a previousl Philips shaver but unfortunately the tip that plugs into the shaver is not compatible.

Great Shaver Overall
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's been a while since having a 3 head rotary shaver; Im often used to horizontal foils. The product is well boxed though with looking at the lids and any tabs it sure was hard to neatly unbox; I had to rip the box open. The shaver comes with a zip up pouch, rotary head guard and a usb a cord type charger - no charging block that I have seen to plug into a wall so therefore you can plug in a usb port of a computer or console maybe, or if your power strip has a usb a port for charging, but any usb charging block will do. However, after searching their website (or simply put googling Norelco usb charger, there is a "Hq87 Usb Adapter" but sure there are cheaper alternatives. I have tested this out under my chin (and it was charged enough to turn on), and yes its somewhat smooth after, (little skin irritation but that's common), and there is a tab to push in that flips open the rotary shaving blades up and its easily cleaning and emptying of shaved off hairs and probably rinsing and leaving in open position to dry. Manual is included with instructions and maintenance tips. Solid product

Good Shaver
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Philips Norelco Shaver 3600, Rechargeable Wet & Dry Electric Shaver with Pop-Up Trimmer and Storage Pouch is a nice razor for q quick shave but the shave is not as close as a foil type razor of another brand. With the ComfortCut blades, you get a clean shave that's comfortable on your skin. Rounded caps shield 27 self-sharpening blades to gently cut hair just above skin level and help the shaver glide smoothly over your skin. It is also ergonomically designed so that it gets into small spaces on your face and fit your hand nicely. The head reaches your face at the ideal angle and adjusts to the curves of your face and neck, creating smooth contact with your face. It has a good battery life but for recharging, it comes with a USB charging cable but not all of us have USB a charging outlets in our bathrooms and this is a disadvantage to me since I need to carry it to the bedroom to recharge. Overall it is a nice razor and I recommend buying it.

Quick and close shaves. Basic, but does the job.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good shaver. It’s well-built and works well. While it doesn’t come with any bells and whistles, it gets the job done. I can only speak to my experience, but shaves have been quick, close, and comfortable. My facial hair comes in fairly thick, and I have a rather sensitive face, but I haven’t experienced any burn or other issues. The shaver more or less does just seem to glide over my face, and while there has been the rare occasional tug, they have been so few and far between I don’t consider it an issue. Just something to note. I have come to appreciate the wet/dry capabilities. It’s just nice to have the option. All in all, my shaves have been quick, close, and probably most importantly, comfortable. Quite honestly, that is all I really was looking for. As for the razer itself, as I mentioned earlier, it is well-built. It feels good in the hand, and, well, fits very well in my hand. It is light, but a good weight, and runs surprisingly quietly. The LED indicators effectively show the charge level. Other than how it shaves, the battery is perhaps the second most important thing I was looking for, and so far, it seems solid. Charges are quick, last quite a few shaves, and have not been an issue. I do wish they included a power brick for the cable, but I get it. A minor nitpick for me, and again, something to note. Lastly, cleanup is pretty simple and about what you would expect in this class. Ultimately, I like this shaver. It does all that I need, and it does it well. Other than a rare tug, or having to occasionally hit a spot twice (both of which I think it more a product of my facial hair than anything), I have no complaints. I think this is a great value, full stop. That said, it is a somewhat basic model, with no frills included. That works for me, but depending on your needs and wants, you may want to explore their models up the chain.

Leaves Stubble, Power Adapter Not Included
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a triple-headed rechargeable shaver that comes with a charging cord and travel pouch. I found it disappointing all the way around. First off, it comes with a USB power cord requiring a not included adapter to charge it. Why not just make it a plug-in a wall receptacle rechargeable like my old one? If you're travelling with this new one now you have to take an adapter along with the power cord. It seems like reverse progress. Secondly, this three-headed shaver does not give me as close a shave as my old rectangular shaped foil head shaver. It leaves stubble all over my face, especially on my cheeks. It seems the three head design does not work well for my face. And lastly, this shaver irritated the skin on my neck. Again, I'm not sure if it's the design or maybe the material the head is made from that's causing the irritation. In any event it's not something I've ever experienced before with an electric shaver. I've owned many types and brands of electric shavers over the years and this one is the worst in every aspect. Obviously, I wouldn't recommend this particular shaver.
