Great electric shaver for the money!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This shaver has been a nice additive to the rest of my grooming tools. I keep this one in the car and the battery life is phenomenal but it's perfect for that quick touch up shave that you need and between full shaves it does a great job and gets extremely close to the skin without irritation. Easy to empty the hair from the built-in trap. I'm not a big fan of the proprietary charger cord. I wish they would use something more universal like USB type-c maybe in the future. Phillips will consider switching over to something more universal. The shaver is lightweight but still has a quality build. Replacement parts are fairly inexpensive. I would definitely recommend the shaver to someone who is on the go frequently or need something to keep in their car or at work. I've been using Phillips products for years and have always had good luck and so far this seems to be right in line with the rest of their quality products. The packaging and presentation out of the box was really nice. Charging ports on the bottom and it just has a simple on and off button fits really nicely in the hand. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Nice clean close shave
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Philips Norelco Shaver 5000X is a great affordable electric shaver that produces great results. It’s light and easy to use and gives a great quick clean close shave. Swapping from the shaver to the trimmer is quick and easy with a twist of the head. This is the third Phillips Norelco electric shaver I have gotten for my husband to use and he’s quite happy with the job it does. I love the trimmer to clean up my husbands hair around the ears and the back of his neck between haircuts keeping his hair looking fresh. You can get several days of shaving in a single charge. One con I have is the power cord is a special cord, it’s very short and doesn’t come with the wall plug included. It is usb so you can use any regular usb wall unit. Cleaning the shaved head is easy, I personally remove it from the handle and use warm water to keep the hair from gumming up the blades. If you’re new to electric shavers, there is a period of adjustment for your skin to acclimate to the blades. I think the Philips Norelco Shaver 5000X is a great budget friendly electric shaver and am quite happy with the results.

Great razor but lacking travel bag
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So i have tried to use electric razors before in the past when I was younger and never had good luck with them. I tried both the 3 head type like this one and the single half moon type with a single screen over the whole surface and like I said I did not have any luck with them doing a good job. So I would always go back to the good old standard Bick 3 blade or now a days 50 blades lol. So I figured I am older now and would like to try the electric razor again. Unfortunately i have the same problem. The razor itself was outstanding and it did a great job on the side of my face the cheek area. The problem i run into still in my neck area. No matter how many times I run the razor over my neck i have to end up shaving with the good old trusty Bick to get a clean shaved neck or I will have patches of hair it seems no matter how many times I run the razor over my neck I just cant get a good shave. Now don't get me wrong this is in no way the razors fault. The razor were I shaved my cheek area was baby bottom smooth. I loved the fact that as I was shaving it did not pull hairs out, it did an outstanding job in the area of my face that I could shave with the electric razor. The razor was extremally nice and very easy to clean after i shaved with it. All you do is click the bottom part of the razer and the door opens and you just run it under cold to luke warm water. The blades were easy to access if you needed to change them out with new ones and the head was easy to remove to take off to put on the side burns trimmer. If you have any question you are installing it rite you can only put it on one way and you can look at the top and bottom notches of the head and the body of the razer and you will see it has a slot on both that is bigger on one and and smaller on the other. It comes with a charging cable that uses a standard USB port to charge and it comes with a cover to put over the razor head so not to damage it. I was a little surprised at its price point it did not come with a travel bag. You can use it to shave getting it wet. I personally did not try this but looking at the instructions it seems you can. It did mention several times that you need to unplug it while in use, so charge it initially and that only took like 20 min to be fully charged so I'm guessing it was charged most of the way out of the box. The instructions were a little lacking and it really only shows a diagram on how to use it, clean it and so on. The problem I had was the pictures and text were so small I had a problem trying to read it. All in all if you like electric razors you can not go wrong with this one, only wish it came with a travel bag and instructions for it were a little more detailed and bigger, otherwise you cant go wrong with it.

Great shave, wish the grip was a bit more firm
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I opened up the Norelco 5000x wet and dry shaver today and found the razor, an ac plug to USB/A power cord, and a sideburn attachment. The kit doesn’t include a 110v to USB/A adapter, so the user must supply their own, not an issue as most will have more than one lying around the house. I plugged mine into a direct USB/A port and it charged fairly quickly. I couldn’t say for sure how long it took as I just plugged it in and left the room to play on the PC. It was done when I went to check on it. There’s a blinking white light that shows it charging and it turns steady when it’s fully charged. So, how does it shave? I shaved my face with a straight edge about 3 days ago. My facial hair doesn’t grow really fast, but I had a 5 o’clock shadow with stubble. The razor glides across the face easily and I didn’t have any issues with the shave (like yanking a hair). The shave isn’t as close as a straight edge, but it will give you a great shave to be presentable in public if that’s what your intended purpose is. Also since it’s a wet shaver, the convenience of shaving in the shower is an added bonus. As for the razor itself, the unit feels a bit cheap or plastic. It’s rather light and the molded grip lines don’t really work in my hands. The shape of the handle is great and fits my grip, but with the feel being slick, I don’t have the firmness I’d like in a shaver. The blades are easy to remove and clean, wash or replace with the sideburn attachment. The kit also includes a cap to protect the blades and it snaps on as one would expect. Other than the feel and grip of the razor, I’d recommend it to anyone needing a replacement electric razor. It does a great job of shaving one’s face, you just need to keep it in your hands.

Good close shave
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband needed a new razor. This Phillips Norelco 5000x Shaver was selected to replace his old one. When it arrived, we were impressed by the new design as compared to his old shaver. The first thing that he noticed about the shaver, is the new head is larger and both the head and the blades pivot. This makes for a smooth and close shave. Cleaning the the shaver should be easy with the flip up head and flat surface under the heads. Like the old one, the head can be washed with water. The new handle design which is smaller in diameter and a little longer, making it easier to hold. Hubby says that is a big plus. It also has a separate trimmer attachment that he can change out on the shaver head to trim his side burns or mustache, unlike his old shaver which had a flip up trimmer that was awkward to use. We gave the Phillips Norelco 5000x 4 stars only because it does not come with a power adapter or cleaning brush. The power adapter is a must because many people don't have access to a USB adapter charger, especially in the bathroom. Overall, with the new design and features we highly recommend this shaver.

Excellent shaver for close shaves
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The initial experience in opening the box for this shaver is excellent. There was no extraneous packing material, and everything was easy to find and access while also being well secured for transport. Minimal plastic packing is used, and most of the packaging is plain white cardboard. As far as ease-of-use, this shaver is the definition of plug and play. Plug it in, wait for it to charge, and then use it. The two buttons are both intuitive, and I did not have to consult any instructions to figure out how to use it. As far as the shaving experience, this shaver is definitely for those wanting a close shave down to the skin, at which it excelled. If you’re maintaining a beard, this would not be the best shaver as it tends to pull on, more than cut, any hair longer than about a quarter of an inch. For quality of construction, it’s okay. It’s light, inexpensive plastic, and a little more heft, particularly in the handle, would would make it a little more comfortable to hold and to use. But this is a minor criticism, and none of this detracts from its quality as a shaving device. Overall, I am happy with this shaver, and I would recommend it for anyone who shaves down to the skin every day.

electric triple head razor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have generally used a single head electric razer or a manual razer with 2-3 blades. For day to day use I would use an electric razer and give my face a break from the electric razer on occasion and use a blade. Using a blade has pretty much always given me the closest shave, but the electric razers did a fine job. I had used a triple head razer many years ago and didn’t really like it. When I tried the single head razer, I found that it worked much better for me. This triple head razer is much different than the old style I tried decades ago, so I thought I would give it a try. Boy am I glad I did. The heads are much bigger and do a pretty good job of mowing down the stubble. I still have to go over my face a couple of times, but no more than I did with my single head razer. The handle is much nicer to hold than the older style triple head razer. It is angled, so you can hold it at the right angle when you are doing your neck. The only place I had any trouble was under my nose. That area is a bit trickier, but I am getting used to it. Also, I have not had any trouble with it pulling any whiskers. If you are looking for a new electric razor, I would certainly give this one a try.

A great replacement for a manual razor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Norelco 5000x is a huge upgrade over my previous shaver. As a woman, I dont thinknil the target audience, but this is great for legs and under arms. Pros: * Water-resistant so it can be user in the shower * Floating/movable head to get a close shave on curved areas * Slip-resistant grip makes it easy to reach my ankles and backs of my legs without riskong dropping the shaver. * Great battery life- Two weeks of average use and i still have charge left. * Easy to clean. I've used electric shavers in the oast, and cleaning usually makes me want to go back to a manual razor, but this one is relatively easy to clean. * Close shave- this is the second reason i usually go back to a manual. Most electric shavers just don't get as close as a blade, but this one is close. Cons: * Charging time- the battery stays charged for a good while, but a full chargevtakes an hour, shichbis longer posted charge time * No charging brick included. This isn’t specific to Norelco, but MANY manufacturers are including a cable but no brick. For the cost, a brick shoupd be included.

Not as powerful at full charge but sleek design
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried this on my husband's beard and was mostly disappointed with th Philips Norelco Shave 5000X. We tried it in both dry and wet conditions and it did not make a difference. Despite charging the unit for 1 hour to a full charge, the recommended length of time, it felt very weak when powered on compared to similar models. I exclusively used the precision trimming tool; I felt it did not give a close enough shave for shaping up my husbands beard despite having the skin glide protective coating. My husband has a very thick coarse beard and he also experienced skin irritation which has never happened with my other shavers electric or manual. The design of the Philips Norelco Shave 5000X is very sleek and is comfortable to hold with the ergonomic standing grip. It was very easy to clean but other than that, I was disappointed with this product. I would most likely use as a backup or travel shaver. On a positive not, the charging cable fits my husbands old shaver so he was able to charge the old one and continue using. The rating of two was because of the ergonomic sleek design despite not being powerful at full charge.

Average shave
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Razor fits hand nicely and seems to hold a charge well. Inconvenient to remove cutter head and replace with side burn trimmer all the time. Its disappointing that it doesn’t shave any closer than my 10 year old shaver.
