You won't be disappointed...

It gives me a close shave, easy on my skin and the trimmer works great. Super easy to clean under the sink faucet as well. Battery last a long time!

Regret buying this

Adds a few extra minutes to your shaving routine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is my first electric shaver and my first impression is that it gets very close, if not exactly, to a smooth shave with a razor. Battery life isn’t an issue. Very easy to clean and operate. However, it takes a lot longer to shave. I’m constantly having to go over the same area multiple times, holding my skin down and pressing the shaver firmly against my face to get the slightest groups of hair. But it doesn’t leave me with any razor bumps and that’s a huge plus. If you can spare the few extra minutes this is one of best razors without spending an extreme amount of money.

The worst shaver ever

Please allow us to suggest a few tips that can improve your experience. It is possible that the performance of your shaver has declined because it is dirty. There can be hair or dirt particles stuck inside it, causing the shaving heads to don’t function correctly. To fix this problem, properly clean your shaver. If possible, remove the shaving heads and clean your shaver from the inside as well. When you shave with your Philips Shaver, you will achieve optimal results if you make slow circular movements with the shaver over the face. While shaving, it is important to be gentle, especially if you have sensitive skin prone to irritation. Do not press the shaver too hard against your skin. Only apply a gentle pressure which makes your facial hair stand upright and makes it easier for the shaver blades to catch and cut them. And lastly, another reason why your shaver might not be working properly is that it is not assembled correctly. Straightforward, serves the purpose electric shave

Great Shaver

The foil type was painful and missed hairs that lie flat, but it gave a close shave. The Norelco gets everything and feels great. Reviews were concerned with power button location and shaving under the nose. My finger location is not near the power button while shaving and I can cut up to my nose using the side of the individual head. My only negative is getting a clean sideburn trim.

Close, comfortable shave but unwieldy new shape

The new longer, altered shape of the body is uncomfortable to hold and manipulate compared to the previous shape. Other reviews made an analogy to shaving with a brick. That is a bit overboard, but does get the point across. The on/off switch is not in a great location since I occasionally accidentally turn the saver off while shaving, but it's in a much better place and is a better type of switch than previous models which would accidentally turn off many times during a shave. If Norelco would place the switch lower on the handle, the problem would be solved. I'm guessing that the longer, altered shape was to fit in the new electronics that senses beard density and automatically adjusts the motor speed accordingly. For the past few years someone at Philips Norelco mistakenly thinks customers must want speed features. They variously included a "turbo" boost speed (faster) switch, a sensitive skin (slower) speed switch, and now this automatic speed adjustment capability -- this latter one is apparently the cause of the unwieldy longer, altered shape. In my view these speed features have no value. Just equip the razor with a relatively high speed motor and that will work fine. You've taken a wonderful product and made it worse.

Quick, Convenient Shave

After 20+ years since I last used an electric shaver, I decided to try the Philips Norelco Shaver 5300. Am not disappointed! I can grab the shaver and be acceptably smooth after 2-3 minutes of dry shaving without any mess or trouble- it truly count not be easier! I remember from way back when that I read you had to use the new shaver for 2-3 weeks to get used to it, but the Philips Norelco Shaver 5300 has been comfortable from the start
