Obviously the brush heads need to be replaced on a regular basis and there are a number of options. There ARE generic model brush heads that are supposed to be compatible with the Sonicare models, though we found one package would not fit, despite the advertising on the box, so we've stuck with the name brand brushes, buying them on sale or using Rewards points with my Best Buy account to keep the cost down. We've found this particular model to work well for us, the texture and level of firmness working well on the Sonicare handle and with our teeth. It is always helpful to have the wear indicators on the brush heads as well to tell us when to replace things.
