No sports or local channels but WAY cheaper

Great alternative from cable or satellite. Only drawback is no local channels and no sports channels. Save lots of money during off season with Philo with an otherwise great channel lineup.

Deceptive Approach by Best Buy to auto charge

An item that I did not redeem nor activate, but ended up getting charged a monthly fee. This was a very deceptive approach. When I bought a TV antenna, Best Buy sent me an email to redeem a 30 day Philo subscription. I opted not to redeem it as I was not impressed with Philo from last year (I prefer Sling). Found out that even though I did not redeem the 30 days, I was auto charged monthly fee after the 30 days with the credit card info from my Best Buy Rewards account. I contacted Best Buy after I saw the charge and informed by Peyton that I will not/cannot be refunded nor will they provide credit.

This was probably the best $20 I can spend each month. There are enough channels that I can always find something to watch. I like being able to see a program from the beginning even if it’s after the show has started. It’s also great that it keeps track of the last thing I watched so I can go back to it at a later date. I feel like I get just as much if not more from this than I did from uverse and at lower cost.

Had a malfunction to wherewhich the Home Screen was all black for a few days. Didn’t do anything. It fixed itself before I found the time to return it. Not bad for price. I paid $200 and got a $50 refund using Paribus price tracking app

So SAD, Watch Out for BestBuy and Philoenew

Watch OUT!, BestBuy activates the Trial Monthly subscription automatically when they add this to you TV/Monitor Order, The Auto Renews through your Credit Card registered with BestBuy, They will not Refund once charged, BestBuy Must be getting an incentive for the service sign up. Very Sad way to do business, We spend way over Elite Plus on Rewards and buy a Ton of equipment from them years, Then to stick you for $20 here and there, Makes me question doing business elsewhere. SO SAD!

    Beware of automatic renewal

Make sure remove automatic payment option. I bought it and they charged it from best buy credit card. Once they charge it will not refund it. You are forced to use it.

This is my first time using Philo. It is very limited if you are used to having cable, and the 100 plus channels to flip through. If you cut your cable cord, and are ready to start with streaming TV, then for only 20$ a month, Philo is the best service for now.

It's definitely better than sling for service wise, but lacks for channel wise. Not that many great channels to watch, a bunch of channels but not good channels like sling. Overall I will keep this for it's service and no crashing or freezing up like sling does.

Its a shame because I would of tried and reviewed this product but bought the Roku as a Christmas gift and had no idea they would start my "Free Month" before I even activated it. I just set up the Device to watch it on 12 hrs ago and already am getting charged a monthly fee. I don't plan on paying for something I didn't even order in the 1st place. I might of kept had I more than a day to check it out. I didn't even know till my credit card alerted me of a charge going through.

The only streaming service that has all three channels that stream law and order, my favorite series. DVR is great.

It is relatively inexpensive option that offers some good programs, however with the recent launching of Discovery +, most of the programs on Discovery owned channels are just re-runs.

The trial period starts without you knowing it!

I was disappointed that this trial period began the day we bought the tv. We spent a couple of weeks getting used to other streaming services and learning how to operate without cable or satellite service. By the time I was ready to give Philo a try, my trial period was already done. With the holiday gift-giving season approaching this seems like a very poorly thought-out plan. The tv could easily sit under a tree for the entire month. Within reason, folks should be given the opportunity to start the trial period when they are ready.

Great "cut-the-cord" alternative for TV viewers

Got a free month trial of this subscription service and it worked really well! There were a good number of channels (including ones I would actually normally watch) and it streamed without a problem. The extra features such as the DVR function were also a great plus. You can also add specialty channels a-la-carte. I personally won't be continuing the subscription only because I rarely watch "TV" to begin with but it is definitely a great alternative to cable plans and I highly recommend to people who want to "cut-the-cord".

The concept of this service is nice, but this site is not user friendly. put an option to look at channels they have available. You have to open another window to see what channels they have, in order to search for what you want to watch. If you want to cancel your subscription, it’s very tricky if you get it through Best Buy. And they keep your credit card info on the account with no way to remove it. Not cool. Now I have to contact Best Buy to have them remove my info. I’m sticking with discovery plus.

Wasn’t able to use due to not being able to activate in time. Great deal, and Philo is a good service, just wish it started when you activated rather than at purchase.

Compared to all the other streaming apps, Philo is pretty mediocre at best. It's nice to have the free month that comes with a purchase, but I would not ever subscribe to this app and pay full price

It would be a great product for this Smart TV if it didn't auto-renew. The TV was a gift. I don't want to continue to be billed for Apps on a TV I gave as a gift!

Decent service if you only want a few channels. Interface could be much better. There is a reason why this service is so much cheaper than full cable.
