This is my first receiver and dive into the surround sound experience. This receiver offers great sound quality, especially when paired with Definitive Technology speakers. Setup was extremely easy to follow with Pioneer's setup app for tablets and smartphones as it walks you step by step on how all the connections are suppose to be hooked up right through the calibration.

Was excited to get this unit-but navigator program is not detailed enough to trouble shoot basic issues. Unit was returned -not working properly A lot of money for a unit that is doesn't work.

When my Pioneer VSX-30 started shutting itself off, I knew it was time for a new one. Since it lasted almost 10 years, it seemed logical to stick with Pioneer. I've only had the VSX-90 for a couple weeks, but so far so good. I like the Bluetooth capability and the on-screen controls. Of course, it sounds great too!

The receiver stopped working two days after I set it up. Would Best Buy take it back? Nope.

Purchased a 4k TV and wanted to upgrade my receiver too. This was a great find at a great price. Sound is excellent. Set up was easy. I have it programmed so it will turn on when my TV is turned on. My wife just loves this feature

Been using this for a few weeks and I'm very pleased so far. Set up was incredibly easy with the on-screen guide over HDMI. It was a little tricky at first because the set up was primarily through an app and I was having trouble getting it connected at first, but once that was done it was a breeze. The network features are great too...remote control is available through smart phone and I can push music straight to it from my phone through the wireless connection. Only features that I don't have that my old receiver did was a built-in jack for an A/C cord so I could plug my sub in, but I can deal with that. And, most importantly, the sound quality is great. I bought this to replace a 10 year old Yamaha receiver that was pushing Klipsch speakers, and the clarity difference is definitely noticeable. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a solid receiver at a really great price.

Pioneer strength is in the sounds. Great for both music and movies. I am not a fan of the GUI or remote control, and they are the weak points of this product. The auto calibration feature is pretty good and much better than the Yamaha Adventage RX-1050 YPAO.

I went into Best Buy looking for a new home theater system. I am glad I didn't go for the cheap home theater in a box set ups. This receiver sounds great. It doesn't matter what I am listening to. I highly recommend this product.

If you decide to purchase a top of the line product you would expect the user interface to be top notch as well. This Pioneer receiver (VSX-90) has the absolute worst user interface and supporting documentation that I have ever seen. My 12 year old could write better code..... The iControlAV5 companion App is just as bad. A really bad experience is what you are getting from this elite receiver...... Now, if you do finally get it configured to the point of using the receiver to watch a movie the sound is pretty good. A bit harsh on the highs and lacking the full bass that you would expect. I would say adequate but not terrific sound quality overall. I'm going to be returning this receiver and will be putting my 2 year old Onkyo back into my set up. It just sounds better......

I bought this product because it was something we needed, it was on sale and it was an open box. In installing it, found several shortcomings (for me) that were very well listed to documented. and one "Pioneer Home Audio" Customer Service(really now a division of Onkyo), had never heard of before I brought it to their attention. Still considering whether to keep it since I can't get my speakers connected yet, Pro (keeping) 1. Arrived in perfect physical condition. Warranted as new though an open box buy (20% disc). 2. Checked for updates and it's current, (MFR date 12/15) updated. 3. Good price since it's also on clearance sale. Bad news (for me) 1. No Phono input. It's not stated anywhere that is so but it's not stated that it isn't either, so my bad. Thinking it's standard like AM/FM or Sirius. Also not there- more than 1 analog input, more than 1 optical input, more than one SPDIF. 2. Not very versatile in dealing with multi-analog inputs/outputs (one of those too)! In short, I will probably have to buy an external Phono preamp ($50) to use this in my system. 3. Speaker cabling. Although there versatility in outputs, there is a connection issue (remember the one they never heard about?) in the spacing of the Banana Jacks on this unit. It's non-standard for dual size jacks in that the spacing is 24.5mm not 19. This is a huge problem if using dual banana plug to connect your speakers (which otherwise are a huge advantage to trying to attach loose wires to the squirrly connectors in back. 4. Terrible customer service that wasn't knowledgable about the issue and would not move a case forward faster than a few weeks where after reaching someone on the phone (10A-?), i had to send someone detailed email. Really!!

I only had this vsx90 for week but so far it has out performed any receiver that I ever owned. You got to hear this one for the money

I have been installing surround sound theaters in my homes for years... I was always the "First Kid On the Block" type. Also as a former accomplished musician amps, speakers and wires everywhere has been my plight for some 20 years (thats scary). I have had the pleasure of owning amps of all types and costs and can honestly say that VSX-90 has been my favorite choice as it provides a high watt output (8-4 ohm) and a full spectrum of quality sound FOR $$$

The initial setup was quick and easy, it uses a microphone to ideally balance the sound from each speaker which allows for great sound in any room. The interface is easy to use and the setup app is simple and easy.

Pioneer Elite Receiver works great! Had some issues figuring out hookup, but with the help of the Best Buy Magnolia (over the phone) figured out that the receiver was bad because it was not able to find TV-Opt 1 (Option was shaded out and not able to change to TV-Opt 1); so they recommended returning it for another one. Returned it-got a new one. Second receiver-still issues with hookup, but figured out - Receiver works great now-no problems. (Overall Rating: 5) Best Buy Magnolia employees-Overall Rating: 5+

We have found this product very easy to use and to be of high quality. Very pleased with this purchase.

Love the sound on this VSX-90 model all the extra features are great

The sound is really nice and Atmos is super nice! The software however is a bit glitchy. I had to unplug the power a few times because the the setup screen got stuck or would not show up. But after the reboot it work fine. I got it at a really nice price and once it was all setup there were no more issues

Nice receiver with features of higher end units but at a lower cost, the 2 zone feature is nice, sound is good
