Nice unit. Everything I wanted but setup with the Samsung UHDTV Curved 65" TV was a bit confusing. The web based setup is particularly cumbersome but I guess it only has to be setup once.

I was looking for a receiver for my new projector system. I found this receiver on the deal of the day. It fit what I was looking for! Lots of options in hook ups. Glad I made the purchase.

this may be a little over kill for a sinple application . it does have of the current options .

works great with sony. set up was a little trouble since have whole house speakers and you have to fool the presets. To have all speakers playing. But found this to be same with Denon

Solid receiver for the price and warranty coverage being a Pioneer Elite model. However, it is missing the Dolby Atmos feature which the next level receiver, VSX-90 does have.

With Wi-FI, this receiver has the capability of receiving a wide variety of music from around the world in high fidelity quality.

Good unit but it may be a little more complicated than it needs to be to set up and run.

This tuner does everything that I wanted it to do. I wanted a phone app that allowed full control while listening to my outdoor speakers. I can fully control this system with the app found for the I Phone. System is easy to setup and using the included microphone to setup speakers worked great. Only minor adjustments needed to be made. Easy to setup on wifi network. EQ is a little cumbersome to adjust from the onscreen setup through the TV. Had issues getting Airplay to work but found after disabling Bluetooth in the configuration Airplay worked flawlessly. You need to either use bluetooth or Airplay. Over all this system works great and does everything I wanted it to do. Best Buy staff was clueless on how any of these Smart Tuners worked so I had to do my own research between each brand. Lucky for me every brand downloadable app had a demo mode. Pioneer seemed to have the most control out of all of them.

We had a older version of this that we loved but it died. We bought this newer one under warranty but you have to turn it way up to hear it clearly through the surround sound. It does not work right and we may take it back soon. Also extremely difficult to set up with the little plug in microphone to sync it up to our wireless surround sound took hours to get it to connect. Thumbs down!

I had a chance to compare Yamaha RX-V479, Pioneer VSX-90, and Onkyo TX-NR646. Pioneer won hands down. Originally, the sound seemed a bit thin but I found this was due to the speaker equalizer settings (microphone setup set flat frequency response, I prefer boosted base and treble). Sounded great once I made that adjustment. Pioneer Had exceptional 3-D sound placement and overall clean sound with lots of power. I also love the phase adjustments this receiver made...my subwoofer sounds amazing (very low and clean) compared to how it sounds with other receivers I have used (more "boomy" and less clean while still not belting out the really low sounds very well. I only saw 2 trade-offs with the Pioneer. First, you cannot use the digital audio input for just any video input...only certain pairings are allowed (these are specified in the manual, but limits flexibility). Second, I wish this receiver (and all others for that matter) remembers the volume setting by input. There is a 12dB +/- setting you can make for each input that adjusts volume as you move between inputs, but it would be better to just remember the last used volume by input (my old JVC receiver did this, but I have never seen another that does). This receiver simply sounded amazing compared to the others I tested...got it as open box discount that put it very close to the other receiver in price...was a real steal given how much better this receiver made my speakers sound.

Before we had this product the sounds in the speakers were crackling and nasty. Plus all of our wires were all over the place, but now there neat and organized!

first one malfunctioned after one day and I had to go back to store to get a replacement. second one works fine.

Good sound quality and features. Not high end but very good for the price range.

Bought a new HDTV and needed the HDMI to match. They did a great job at showing me my options and the best fit for me. This has been great so far.

Nice features. Easy to hook up. Liked it so much bought another one.

Does good job. The first receiver would black out for 2 - 3 seconds so I returned it and got a new one which has been working well. Much better using external speakers than the wimpy speaker included in our television. I do not like the way the numbers go down when you turn the volume up. This is strange - other than that it's working very well.

Needed because of 4k TV. Not a lot of 4k content yet but purchased for the future. Seems to work fine. Wouldn't have expected anything different.

Works with pre-existing components I had, so does the job. Actually a bit too powerful for some.

I am very happy with the purchase that I have made. I would recommend this to any one looking for a good receiver at a decent price.

This Pioneer Elite Receiver is a great compliment to my sound system. It is worth the price.
