    VERY HAPPY WITH THIS AMPLIFIER

Bought this and old Kenwood VR-60RS 7.1 AV reciever that just died. I was a little worried that 80W per channel wouldn't have enough power compared to 100W per channel of the Kenwood amp. Not only it was sufficient but it sounded really good., very clear, dynamic audio. The amp looks great has the best bang for buck because it has a lot more feathers compared to other amps in the price range. The amplifier is very easy to setup. thanks to the MCACC. If you looking for a fully featured reciever that offers modern tech at a low price with decent power the Pioneer Elitre VSX-LX103 is hard to beat.

I bought this specifically for HDMI-CEC and ARC, and when I originally set it up it worked fine. Now the receiver will not recognize ANY CEC devices.

Overall, a poor attempt at a speaker driving machine - better than the most basic receivers is about all I can vouch for. It didn't do a good job of powering my KB-15 Ikons which are not very big speakers at all.. Put them on a VSX-LX503 and they sounded immeasurably better. Given all the digital content nowadays, I'm not certain I can say it's the power or the processing but whatever this receiver is missing, it's definitely missing it by a lot.

This is my fourth Pioneer Elite and by far the worst. Locks up, cant change inputs no matter if you unplug it or not. Worked fine the first two weeks and then all of a sudden garbage. The NET function works 25 percent of the time and is constantly losing connection after two weeks.

Total crap, not the first to write something like this I'm sure as this model is hard to find... I bet stores pulled it off shelves after having to replace/fix it a million times. Does nothing but stutter with music and it won't connect to my tv - waste.

We purchased this unit, took in home and set it up only to find that it was throwing an error code that when we looked it up indicated that the problem was not fixable by us and instructed us to seek technical assistance.

Geek squad came out to install this unit. Spent 2 hours trying to get the Bluetooth setup and could never get it to connect. They continued trying to get it to play music but that never happened either.

I can't get the aux speaker pair to work in the "Stereo " setting, whiCh is why I bought a 7.2, vs. a 5.2 system. I'm returning the lot if my son in law can't make it work next week.

I decided to purchase this receiver for my family room 2.1 stereo system. I had a Yamaha r-s700 stereo receiver before and was looking to update, and have the conveniences of airplay, Bluetooth built in, pandora, bass management. The Yamaha was strictly analog 2 channel with no bass management, so being able to use a crossover for my Elac B6.2 2.0 and Martin Logan 700w really helped the midrange clarity and blend between the subwoofer and bookshelves. I was able to get it all set up easily, but then ran into an issue where my iPhone XS Max won’t connect to the receiver for airplay, I’ve tried everything under the sun to get it to work again, and just won’t connect, signals great, WiFi is great, so I have given up on airplay for now and use the Bluetooth which sounds better than I anticipated. I do have a turntable hooked up and disc changer, it’s nice to have old school inputs on a modern receiver. I can’t vouch for surround sound quality, but the quality I am getting from 2.1 is great, plenty of volume and clarity, I like that it’s on the warm side and drives the 6ohm Elacs with out strain. I got it on sale for $299, it’s a great buy at $299 even if it’s 2018 model year. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the issue I’m having with airplay. I plan on contacting pioneer about it for further resolution to the problem. It’s a great receiver with just the right amount of features and doesn’t break the bank.

Holy Smokes - Wow! Amazing power for price!

So my Yamaha RX-V371 was getting a little long in the tooth. It was an awesome entry level receiver back in 2011. But as sound releases move on, 4K/HDMI standards improve, the Yamaha still put out power, but it just wasn't keeping up with technology. At $300, there's a lot of choices out there for receivers, but it's almost a lateral move soundwise, just to catch up with standards. But then came the this Pioneer unit. WOW! It's designed as a higher mid-range receiver at $599 retail. It offers the latest standards in sound and technology, with built-in Airplay and Chromecast too! Not to mention 7.2 or 5.1 with support for separate zones?!? But the real test came setting it up... Start the receiver up, plug it into the TV and Pioneer WALKS you right through the set-up process. Talk about a no-brainer. You stick a set-up mic where you sit to watch or listen and the receiver configures itself and makes it happen - automatically! When done... and fired up a couple Amazon Prime movies. All I could do was drop my jaw watching Iron Man and Transformers. My walls shook, my ears bled, the wife and kids said. "That's too darn loud!!!". Yeah, that did it for me. Mission accomplished! Even at a retail of $599 you may still go WHOA... so at $299, I’ll wager you just be be a little happy. :)

Excellent visual and audio quality, cheap remote

Replaced a 2012 model year Pioneer Elite 7.2 receiver as part of my 4K UHD upgrade cycle. My new 4K tv hasn’t arrived yet, buy my old 1080p plasma TV already looks notably better. I assume the visual improvement is due to upscaing or better inputs. The VSX-LX103 is a few pounds lighter and has a 20% smaller footprint than the predecessor it is replacing. It’s clear a few corners have been cut over the years (no flip down front bezel, remote control, size and weight). This initially made me feel a little nervous, but the receiver looks and sounds excellent and the cut corners have helped keep the cost low without sacrificing much. The biggest drawback is the relative lack of functionality and quality of the remote. Comparing the 2012 and 2018 remotes is pretty sad. The new remote is made of thinner cheaper plastic and lacks controls for the TV or Blu-ray (not universal). It is also no longer backlit, the selection buttons (center) are rubberize, and the remote just overall disappoints. I had to knock a star for the remote alone. Fortunately, my old Pioneer remote works with this receiver so I don’t have to learn to live with it. I will say, I did an in-store pickup order and my experience at the Tuttle Crossing location was excellent. Friendly, smiling, and responsive staff person who mentioned an extended warranty but wasn’t pushing any high margin add-on accessories. I was in and out in 3 minutes and thought to myself, wow, this is how in-store pickups should work.

Sounds good for a budget receiver but..

THe revecer is packed with features, it sounds good for the price range and added net features. This being said it has a major flaw. THe 1st being its unwillingness to play well with samsung N8000 and 6 series TV's . Samsung is equally at fault. HDMI-CEC and ARC works erratically. The most annoying being frequent factory resets of both receiver and samsung TV required to get everything working again for a few days . New high end HDMI cables, cheap cables you name it. Firmware updates and trying to use alternate ports, nothing resolved this. I tried the V104 as well but it also suffers the same issue. Repeated calls to both Pioneer and Samsung support has them blaming each other. If you have a newer samsung TV that uses the smart remote and ATT uverse Id recommend going with something else if for saving your sanity.

Sound quality is fantastic. The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is because the remote connectivity is somewhat spotty.
