Q: Is this amp strong enough to handle tv wired surround sound plus multi room speaker system?
A: Yes. I use it to push two large Klipsch 5.5 speakers, a center and two rear speakers. Thinking about hooking up a couple more Klipsch 2.5 for the side. Currently plenty of power for great surround and powerful music.
Q: What app is best to use with this model
A: Pioneer Remote app. It is awesome.
Q: Will this work with a tv that's about 10 years old, just plain 1080p hdtv and not 4K or 3D ?
A: Yes it will work but you won’t get the full benefits of the receiver.
A: A big fat NO. I tried that and it does not work.
Q: is it possible to play thru just the zone 2 speakers - like an A/B switch?
A: Yes, I have only done this through the pioneer app on my iPhone which lets me turn on each zone individually including having only zone 2 on. Have not tried to do this on the receiver itself since the free app is so convenient.
Q: Did this get a firmware update for EARC and if not will it in the near future?
A: i don't see anything in the firmware change history as of APR 26, 2019 concerning EARC. the instruction manual supplement talks about it but there is also an obscure note that it applies only to VSX-LX503. so, probably no support in VSX-LX103 right now, if ever. kind of messy documentation...but at least someone is trying to keep customer informed. probably a developer so it is appreciated :-)
Q: does this product come with speakers?
A: No, the item does not come with speakers.
A: In my honest opinion, I looked online at forums and help desks and it seems that for some reason, the ARC function does not seem to sync well with the Samsung Smart TV's. I have ran into this issue also, and may be a programming issue on Pioneer end, or Samsung end. They do not speak to each other. You probably run into that echo between TV and Receiver. I just put volume to 0 on TV and use Receiver inputs for my majority viewing. Kind of defeats the purpose of the Smart TV if you ask me!
