Great replacement Receiver for the VSX-1021k

After 7 years , my Pioneer VSX-1021k AV Receiver would no longer power up. I replaced the VSX-1021k with a VSX-LX103. The VSX-LX103 has the same number of HDMI output connections as the 1021k and 6 HDMI inputs compared to 4 HDMI inputs on 1021k. There are some additional Playback features on the VSX-LX103. The VSX-LX103 supports the same speaker 7.1 : 5.2 configuration as well as 2 sub-woofers. The speaker channel power is a little higher on the LX103 than the 1021k. The MCACC setup still functions the same as the 1021K. However, I have to use the manual MCACC setup because my VSX-LX103 is located in a different room than were the speakers are located therefore I'm not able to use the MCACC setup MIC. It would be great if the Pioneer AV engineers could engineer an MCACC setup MIC with different cable lengths. My VSX-LX103 is located approx. 75 ft from the room where the speakers are located and the MCACC MIC will not reach the other room.

Worked and sounded great for 2 years but then completely stopped working. Based on the error code on the screen, it's not something that can be fixed. Had a Sony receiver for 20 years before this one. Paid $450 for this one, only to have it last 2 years :-(
Definitely will not be buying another Pioneer.

Purchased this receiver to replace a pioneer elite non 4k that has also been stellar. Moving up to a 4k with Atmos was a huge leap in technology.
I can vouch for pioneer elite series offering best value in its class with the most features and ease of use, the speaker configuration software is fantastic and i have it connected to a Bose 7.1
The sound is awesome.

This is an outstanding amp. I really love this unit - the integration with my TV is a pleasant surprise - the TV remote automatically turns the amp on/off and the TV's remote volume control runs the amp's volume up/down. I cut the cabling way down from before where I had A/V, component, HDMI, optical cables, etc. to just HDMI cables from my cable box, Blu-Ray player and TV going into/out of the amp. Plus the surround sound options enable me to fully enjoy my back speakers with a variety of sources (including broadcast TV from the cable box). Not cheap, but highly recommended. For my needs, this amp does it all.

The sound is incredible even before microphone setup and calibrate. I have 7.1 system with Bose speaker system 10.1 and this thing rocks. it has 80 watts per speaker not the 125 watts shown. but its plenty for any video room that I could imagine. I just turn It up a little more than my last 170 watt per channel Sony receiver that preceded this one. It sounds much more pure and a better sound stage. I love the on screen display and the WiFi functions of this unit. Very easy to set up.

The sound and interactivity with my TV, Cable box, DVD player is great. Atmos sound is awesome. sometimes it loses connectivity with the wifi but that might be a problem with the router. It worked so well i bought another for another room and may purchase another for mancave

Was able to buy on sale as it was last year's model, (changes performance wise to the newer model) so it was a great buy. The features are amazing with my Samsung Qled and Samsung 4k player... the sound set up with my JBL bookshelf and Klipsch sub woofer sound like a movie theater! Thank you best buy team for hooking me up!!!

I moved up to this 7.2 A/V receiver from a Pioneer 5.1 and I am truly a Happy Man! Like the 5.1 receiver, the 7.2 receiver gives me control of all the devices I have plugged into it, but more speakers gives Me much more dynamic sound for 4K Movies, CD's,4K Firestick, and 4K Blueray's! I'll be sticking to Pioneer from now on, for My Home A/V needs!

Great purchase. Easy to use, great features and sound. Biggest downfall was that I had to download the User Manual from online and print out what I needed to see. Maybe I'm old school, but why can't they include this for a substantial purchase such as this? But it does what I need it to do well, and the sound is great.

The Pioneer ELITE 7.2 channel receiver delivers perfectly clear audio and the room sensing technology is incredible. It has very easy set up with your additional devices and speaker system. It works great with a variety of apps and is great being wireless with internet features. Love playing my I Phone music thru this system

Good sounding system and easy to set up. Only gripe is that the antenna doesn’t seem to be as strong as my old receiver so some stations don’t come in. Easy playback from my iPhone. I would recommend this purchase.

the surround sounds great on cable and blu rays but can't get the ARC to work. It worked with previous receiver so i'm guessing its an issue with this receiver. also, not as powerful as some of Pioneers other models..

This replaced a less-expensive Sony unit, and my 5.1 surround system sounds much better with this one after auto-tuning. Then I found the manual EQ, and made the sound even better! I was able to custom tune the EQ to compensate beautifully for my own hearing deficiencies by balancing-out the system according to test plots of each ear from my professional hearing test - way cool!!!
Bought this for $500 on sale, a bit high for what you get, but I found it for $400 online a week later and got a BB price match refund, making the price about right. Would have been nice to have a remote with lit buttons. Docked one star for that, plus for using speaker connections not spaced for use of dual banana plugs.

It has many functions with pretty good overall sound. If you're looking for a receiver to rock your house, look elsewhere but it has enough power to generate sound to fulfill a midsize living room.

This is a great receiver. Hubby decided he wanted a better one, though, and upgraded it to a Marantz.
Has a great sound, easy to program and use. Nice interface that can be used on the smartphone.
