Customers are enthusiastic about the RIG 500 PRO Wired Dolby Atmos Gaming Headset's amazing sound quality and comfortable fit. Many appreciate the convenient flip-to-mute microphone and the immersive Dolby Atmos experience. While some users wish for a longer cable, the overall positive feedback highlights the headset's lightweight design and effective volume control. The headset's bass response, however, has received mixed reviews.

Should I start with the negative or all the positives? Negative it is. The only thing I found was the PS4 and Xbox One sleeves weren't included in the box. That said, I decided to use the Dolby Atmos code (included) with my Windows 10 pc. I tried the headphones without it installed listening to Flac, MP3 and Dts 5.1 recorded audio. They sounded really good, but then I installed the Atmos driver and code and man, these headphones sounded awesome. I had them on for at least an hour while I scrolled my wall on Facebook, answering posts and playing Mafia Reloaded. I really couldn't believe how good they sounded. I believe I was able to enjoy them because they fit so well. I have a large cranium and most things just fit or are too small. Even when they fit, it feels like one more click would be perfect. I went to adjust these and they don't adjust. The headband is fixed and fits really nice, but they were too small. Then I take a look at the sides and see there are 3 holes with the speakers in the center hole. I press on the button and it pops out. Cool, try it in the bottom hole and it feels great. I do the other side and tada, these fit and they don't feel like it's stretching to fit my head. Rather it feels like I could tighten them up a tad given a way to do so, but I'm good. The box says the earcups are isolating and it seems to deaden ambient noise. I didn't game with the mic, but I did try it out with Dragon Naturally Speaking software that I use for school and the mic works way better than the USB headset I usually use. I had to set up the mic with the software and then I dictated a paragraph or two and it seem to have a lot less errors than I'm used to. All in all this is a wonderful headset to add to my gear. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good headset for listening to music as well as play games, which is what it was built to do. If anyone knows who I should contact to get the adapters, please post as I get notified should there be a response to this review.

Plantronics – RIG 500 PRO PC Gaming Headset I like to think I give a fair shake for all the reviews I write. But sometimes you do come across some products that you just want to set aside. Unfortunately the RIG 500 Pro PC Gaming Headset is one to set aside. Rule number one a headset has to be comfortable right from the start or it is already suspect. The Rig 500 just simply does not fit me well. I am a fairly normal size person. Not to big or small just about right in the middle. And typically I don’t have a problem with the fit of most headsets I have tried. Each one has a unique character and until you have it on your head for a while you never know for sure if the fit works for you. The ear cups don’t fit completely around my ears which like the rest of me are average in size. The ear cups are well padded and feel fine even if the opening is to small for me. But it’s the clamping force that is to tight even though I have been spreading them out. After stretching them they feel loose but for some reason that still hasn’t helped and the clamping force is the main reason for the discomfort. The head band seems to work well but that doesn’t help that I can only wear these for an hour and then they have to come off. I do like the look Plantronics has here, almost steampunk but in a good way. The headset is very lightweight and the gold and black color scheme go well together. As a lifelong PC gamer like me comfort and having a great mic is critical. I had high hopes for the mic as Plantronics is a leader making great headset mics. But not here, my gaming partners complained from the first time I used them and of course I didn’t mention I had a new mic. They complained about hearing static and my breathing. I tired every position I could set and it didn’t seem to help either problem. I suspect the mic is just to sensitive and maybe more time manually setting the mic input on my audio software can help a bit. A foam pad on the mic end would have been a nice option. And speaking of options your not getting much here. The only option is a single flat 4.5” 3.5 mini jack cable. Try getting that to reach the back of your gaming PC. Since I had to put an extension on to reach my computer inputs that could have contributed to the static. Also since this single cable carries both audio and the mic signal I had to use a Y adapter for my dedicated inputs. They should have included a 10’ cable with separate audio and mic connections since after all a big selling point here is the included Dolby Atmos support on the PC and Xbox. Included in my package was a software key to download and install the Atmos support. Even after that I honestly can’t say on the demos I was won over. Dolby Atmos has a lot of promise and it is highly regarded in the home theatre market but its support in games is just starting. Since positional audio was pretty much removed from Windows years ago this at least brings hope. Maybe it’s not fully realized yet but the gaming industry should catch up. You can purchase your own software key for Atmos support in the Windows store since it works with any stereo headset. The actual sound quality felt mostly flat to me with maybe a touch more bass. But not so much to crowd out the mids and highs. I really didn’t have much to complain there. It’s not audiofile clear but it is about right at this price range. Put in a better mix of accessories and fix the clamping force and this might be a good option for cross platform use since it supports both consoles and the PC. Be sure you try them on before you buy as there are many options in this price range. Oh and if your not plugging into the front panel of your computer you better get an extension or it’s not going to reach the back.

The Plantronics RIG 500 Pro is a great gaming headset for its price point. I love the overall looks and aesthetics of the whole unit. I got the black and gold version. The headset has an ultralight stainless steel frame which looks cool. The ear pieces are 50mm and have a dual material to them, the outer has a faux leather like material and the inner ear cuff has a soft fabric material which is comfortable. The sound of the headset is good for the price point. Sure there are better sounding gaming headsets but who wants to spend a couple hundred of dollars for something similar in quality when you can get this for under $100. What really impressed me was the self adjusting headband, unlike other headsets you can adjust the headband where you want it to rest on your head leaving room for a not so accurate fit. On the RIG 500 pro you can adjust where the earcups sit ((3 positions) and the self adjusting headband will rest on your head providing a good fit, not too tight nor loose. It just feels good. It also comes with a noise canceling mic that plugs in the bottom of the earcup, if you flip the mic up it automatically mutes the mic which is very convenient. It also comes with an inline audio control wire that you can use to plug into your pc, xbox and playstation. Another thing I like about the headset is that all the wiring in flat wire, this avoids tangles which I appreciate. It also comes with a download code for the Xbox for Dolby Atmos activation, to get the full experience you will need to download this for Xbox. It makes a difference.

Plantronics – RIG 500 PRO PC Gaming Headset These were tested by my resident gaming enthusiast who has gone through 4 or 5 headsets in the past few years, some economy and some more expensive units in the $100+ category. He reports the following results: Very lightweight and comfortable – the soft self-adjusting headband provides a comfortable and secure fit. The ear cups are great for long-term gaming and do not make ears sore like some other headsets he has used. Microphone very clear according to other gamers during gameplay and chats. Sound quality is the best of all headsets so far – which includes both mainstream and less well-known companies. Some concern with the cord being short to reach CPU on the floor, but an inexpensive sound extension cable took care of that. This model does not have USB connection, rather has dual Mic/Sound plugs that go in the back of the CPU. That’s not a problem as almost every motherboard has those plugs, but this may explain why the cord seems too short – it must go around to the back of the CPU instead of plugging in to USB port on the front side. Those with sound panel plugs on the front may not have this concern. NOTE: if you do not have Mic/Sound plugs on your device, do NOT get this headset unless you also get an adapter to convert plugs to USB connection. Software download for bonus Dolby Atmos software went smoothly and provides good sound enhancement. The gamer recommends this headset as being the best so far and his father appreciates the price.

As office phone headsets came to be many years ago, Plantronics was the only name if you wanted a headset. And as with all things, they improved them and were (and still are) the bar that others attempt to attain. What I didn't realize until just now was that they got into gaming headsets. I played with these and was blown away at a few things about them. 1) The sound quality cannot be beat. These sound amazing. And playing music? Beyond amazing. Using them for phone calls or FaceTime on my Iphone, they sounded great too. Sound quality, both listening and talking, sound awesome! 2). The build quality is outstanding. I was very impressed with the detail that went into the design, to ensure comfort. When gaming, I can be on for hours and to feel like I'm not frustrated with them, means they are well thought out. I spent hours on phone calls with these on today and could not be more comfortable. 3). There is a coupon code in my box, for unlocking the Dolby Atmos download. On a gaming computer, playing with game sounds, it sounded like I was in the middle of the game. Let me say, I had not heard what Dolby Atmos was, but now that I've heard it first hand, the hype should be believed! I love my music, and sound effects. This experience is unlike anything I've heard before. Plantronics hit a home run with these. I never would have known. And in case you were wondering, I did sound tests with family members, and they all picked these as the best sounding.

The Plantronics – RIG 500 PRO PC Gaming Headset, after the installation of Dolby Atmos gives my ears an experience similar to viewing a movie in an IMAX theater. I can differentiate amongst all the different sounds clearly. Viewing my computer screen with the Plantronics Gaming Headset on gives an experience of actually becoming absorbed into the game or video that I am watching. Using the Plantronics – RIG 500 PRO PC Gaming Headset without installing Dolby Atmos still works, but I can notice the missing stereophonic sounds. The Plantronics – RIG 500 PRO PC Gaming Headset ear pads are extremely soft and cushiony. My ears fit inside the ear pads with no tightness or discomfort. They can be adjusted to fit tight or loose, depending on your preference. The Plantronics – RIG 500 PRO PC Gaming Headset also has a volume control attached to its cord. There is a detachable microphone that can have its distance adjusted to create the correct vocals. The Plantronics – RIG 500 PRO PC Gaming Headset is worth the small amount of money it cost. I am surprised they are not priced for $200 or more, because they function comparable to the higher end Headsets.

Hi! Thank you for your honest review on our RIG 500 PRO headset, however, we are sorry to hear about your experience. The RIG 500 PRO headset is basically compatible with any device that supports a 3.5 mm connector. You may want to verify that your PC has a single 3.5 mm headset jack and not a dual 3.5 mm jack (For mic and speakers). This will only work properly on a single jack computer. If your PC does count with a single 3.5 mm jack, please make sure that it is selected as your default device under your sound/audio settings. You may also want to test the headset connected to a mobile device to completely isolate the issue. If you find that the headset still doesn't work with your mobile device, then it means the headset has an actual problem and it is best to replace it. I really, really wanted to like this headset, and for the most part, I do. In terms of audio, the over-ear design fits big ears and does a decent job muffling the sounds around you, but if you’ve got a loud conference or obnoxious roommates, you’re going to get bleedthrough. The microphone itself does behave like a noise-canceller for you, but if you’re playing a thriller/atmospheric game, you’re still going to get a bit of bleedthrough. The Dolby sound is awesome, no doubt. Amazing range. The audio quality worked really well for gaming. The up and downside is: these can get super loud. I had my PC at 15%. I had the headphones around 60-80% (there’s a separate volume slider on the headphones - which is super handy to quickly lower or raise the volume and/or mute). The mic itself is gaming quality; apparently it mutes the mic if you put it in the “up” position, but in-game my indicators never changed... so I’m not clear if everyone heard my horrible puns or not. I’m also not sure if extra software is required, but none was indicated on either plug-in or in the box. I’m gonna chalk it up to user error for now, as I suspect the game software might not know or care if the mic itself is hardware limited or not. The headset itself is pretty heavy, and for the weight I’d have expected more sound isolation from the earphones. The RIG offers a 3-position locking adjustment for the earphones, there’s the metal arch that goes over your head, and an elastic band that goes between your head and the arch to get the earphones adjusted to your ears. The cord is generously long. I have a relatively large head, I guess, and so I was on the largest locking setting. There’s no more adjustments I can make and the headset is still just a little uncomfortable (like, something you’d notice after a marathon gaming session, but not if you were only on for an hour or so). It’s not pinchy, too tight, or anything else like that - just... slightly off from my head. All in all, a well-made, sturdy, affordable gaming headset that’ll perform just as nicely as the crazy expensive wireless ones. But, if you have a big noggin, test it out first before you take it home.

The Plantronics – RIG 500 PRO Gaming Headset is simply incredible. I have primarily used it for gaming on my Xbox One and at this point, I can’t play without it. The sound quality is superb and it is the most comfortable headset I have ever tried on. The surround sound feeling really comes in handy when listening for footsteps or shots and knowing exactly which direction these sounds are coming from. One of the only slight drawbacks I have found is the mute function. Rather than having a button to press on the bottom of the controller where the headset connects, in order to mute the microphone, you have to physically rotate the mic itself into an upward position. I like having a mute button easily accessible near the controller itself but this is a minor issue that doesn’t detract from the other great features of this headset. Overall, this is a great gaming headset and I highly recommend it!

These headphones are very comfortable. The cushions on the ear pieces are like large pillows on your ears. The headband is comfortable to wear and the mic fit my son in a comfortable spot. The noice canceling on the mic was much better on this then other gaming headsets we have purchased in the past. This comes with a code for an included download of the Dolby Atmos software. If you have both a PC and and Xbox, you download it for one, you get it for both. These are a good gaming headset for PC!

This headset is comfortable, adjustable, and the sound is great. I tried out the dolby atmos for headphones via the included code, but maybe I'm not an audiophile enough to really tell much of a difference from regular 7.1 emulation on decent headsets. This headset worked well with a Windows 10 pc and an Xbox One via the controller jack. I really like the flip up mic to mute function. Takes a lot of fumbling out of the equation. These are the best performing gaming headset I've ever used, audio is a draw with some others (Turtlebeach) I've used in the past, but the easy to use mic-mute feature puts these over the top.

My son and I love this Plantronics gaming headset. The audio quality on this headset is really nice for this price point. My son really likes the flip to mute option. If we need to speak with him, it is very simple for him to flip his mic and to speak to us. I have really enjoyed the Dolby Atmos option, it makes a big difference when gaming. I think this option is what separates this gaming headset from others. If you really appreciate sound quality, I highly recommend this Plantronics gaming headset.
