Gets the job done. Need to test a router or firewall with a surface tablet? This here device is the boi you need. Unless you have the surface dock then use that. Otherwise 10 outta 10.

100% Compatible w/ Windows 10 Pro (v1809) - An absolute perfect accessory, or upgrade from a lesser quality, poor performing, or broken on-board NIC/LAN card. Superb build quality as expected from Platinum products. Totally seamless integration/installation on Windows 10. Plug & Play defined. This device has already exceeded expectations in just a few weeks of use. I've used it on a Lenovo laptop where the older on board NIC card was problematic enough that when connected to a switch in our corporate environment, the card was negatively impacting performance of other devices. I had resorted to using wifi, but not any longer now that I have this USB 3.0 to Gig Ethernet adapter. Also tested on a desktop (pictured) where I was able to use/install in a matter of seconds. Its a wonderful device to have on hand if you are in the IT business and need to fix an issue, or just to troubleshoot network issues on a day in/out basis. Highly recommended - don't skimp on some cheap amazon.com garbage - this is worth every penny!

Makes a big difference vs. using WIFI - very fast

I have a 1.5 year old MacBook Air and I've always just used it on WIFI. So it was interesting to test this device on the MacBook Air, as I am used to a certain speed since I use this computer daily. I found that using both a VPN, and Tunnelblick, I was able to achieve much faster speeds than normally what I get on WIFI. And my WIFI mesh router system is very advanced and very current. Turns out, this MacBook Air runs much faster using this little adapter. I didn't realize how much faster until I actually plugged in. To use this, I simply plugged in a network cable, strung it over to my favorite chair, and then plugged in the adapter. I turned off WIFI to make sure what I was using was the network connection. There were no pop ups or driver messages, it just worked. And that is on a MAC. So, plug and play, literally. Speed increased in page loads and millisecond response times when using a speed test website. I would never have figured that hardwired was going to be noticeably faster than WIFI - but it is. While WIFI is more convenient, to get the most of the speed you have, wired is certainly faster. And I don't have any adapters I'd need to use with my MAC to get a wired connection, so it was interesting how easy this was to use. Certainly if working at a desk near an internet wired connection, this is a great choice to increase your throughput. I think about being on travel and on the hotel network, also think about kids in college that are working at a desk that has an internet connection available. Or any home office that has a router nearby, but such as on a MacBook Air or any computer that doesn't have an ethernet jack built in like they used to have. Oh yes, before I forget, the adapter does have network lights on it, so you know that (1) you are connected and (2) that data is transmitting back and forth. This is important and I almost forgot to mention.

Since most new laptops and 2 in 1's come without an Ethernet port these days, I went through quite a few cheap one's over the past few years. Platinum Ethernet adapter is different in many ways. - It is very well built, with metal casing, and thick solid cable and a Strong USB 3 jack, - It is a Giga Bit Ethernet adapter which means it works with high Speed data transfer. - It is USB 3 which is faster. - It is of course plug and play, meaning there is no need for any Drivers to be installed. - It fits in any laptop bag no matter how small it is. - This brand is backed up by BestBuy and it has a life time warranty.

Works perfectly. Plugged in to my Apple MacBook Air, connected the LAN cable carrying 1Gbps fiber internet - and boom. 1Gbps+ speeds up and down. MacBook immediately identified the connector and configured everything in Network Preferences, and I had 1Gbps speed in less than 30 secs. It has a nice fit/finish, brushed aluminum look to it. Cable is very hefty and feels solid, should hold up over time.

I picked up this Ethernet adapter to use on my Microsoft Surface laptop that only has a display port and one USB port. Since I use a Bluetooth mouse the USB port doesn't get used that often. That's where the Platinum USB 3.0 to Ethernet adapter comes in. When WIFI is not available and you have access to an Ethernet port, this adapter is perfect. Depending on your Laptops ability and the internet service speed, you can get extremely fast secure internet. The adapter is a USB plug on one end and an Ethernet female plug on the other. This is a great accessory to have in your travel bag for for personal or business travel.

I bought a monitor stand for my new slim notebook with built-in usb-c and usb 3.0 but no ethernet. This adapter allowed me to use wired ethernet and get the 1gb speed I needed. Works with no issues. I didn't need to read the instructions. I just plugged in the cables that fit the connectors and I was up and running. No drivers, no extra work, simple.

The Wifi signal that you receive at home from your Modem on your home network will depnd upon how far away your laptop is placed from your Modem and the number of walls between the two devices. If you are doing a lot of Zoom meetings, your home network may not give a strong enough Wifi signal. If your laptop doesn't have an ethernet port (like most newer slim laptops), use this Dongle to connect your laptop directly to your Modem to get a stronger internet signal.

Works great with my 2014 Macbook Pro. Build quality seems really excellent as well. A little expensive perhaps, but I see this lasting a long time. Worth having one of these - vast speed improvement over wifi.

to use as a alternate internet connection. The ethernet port quit working on our desktop PC. I originally purchased a different USB ethernet adapter, and it was slow and disconnected a lot. I purchased this one in hopes in would not disconnect and be faster. The speed now is very fast, however this still disconnects like the old one. Running the troubleshooter gives the message "default gateway not available" "resetting the ethernet adapter" and then is connected once again. Doesn't take much effort to run the fix, just annoying sometimes when in the middle of something. Still a very good device!

From 48 mbps to over 750 mbps data transfer speeds

I was disappointed that my new ultra thin laptop didn't have an ethernet port to support the high data speed and added security required by my employer to work from home. It's been a while since I purchased a laptop and I was surprised to learn that it's a common missing feature on today's laptops. I did some research on my options and landed here at Best Buy. The curbside "ready in as little as one hour" wasn't very convenient or expeditious and I probably won't use that purchase option again, but I'm beyond satisfied with the dongle and was amazed that my data transfer speed went from an abysmal 48 mbps using WiFi to over 750 mbps using this product. Problem solved! As for Best Buy curbside pickup: two hours after I'd placed my order, I hadn't received any updates other than signing in to see that my order seemed to be stuck in processing. I called customer service and they were no help. My designated pickup person finally just went into the store, pulled the merchandise himself and took it to the order pickup desk where there were several Best Buy associates mingling on a non-busy afternoon. I got my order, but I will not use the pick up option again.
