I bought this as a gift for a friend. He loves it, spends almost all of his time playing it.

My 14 year old says it great, he loves it, he hasn't put it down sents he got it Christmas Day.

Got the PS4 for Christmas. Really disappointed that the PS Network was down for several days.

As a PS3 and XBOX 360 owner, I was looking forward to nextgen. I chose the PS4 for reasons I will describe in a bit, but first things first: Pros: - Nice sleek design - Major improvement on controllers - Interface is very responsive, and easy to navigate - Sharing your gameplay is ridiculously simple - The graphics are - well, the best any console to date has to offer - The PSN Subscription includes 5 Free Games already - which is a very impressive perk (Resogun, DC Universe, Contrast, Warframe, and Blacklight Retribution) - The Games (i've played) look gorgeous (COD, Killzone, FIFA and Assasins Creed) Cons: - My PS3 Sony Bluetooth Remote wont work? Why not? No excuse for that - My PS3 Sony Bluetooth Headset wont work? Crazy - nickel and diming! - I cant play my PS3 games. I understand why, but still sucks - 7 years of my game library I cant play unless I keep my PS3. Why I picked PS4 over XBOX One It was actually a simple choice after the details came out about both systems. The PS4 is a better gaming machine, and for my gaming console, I want the console that is the best at delivering games. I seriously do not understand how Microsoft could do this. Why would they put out a console with less GPU power than their competitor, and on top of that, charge $100 more? I don't get it. This isn't to say the XBOX One doesn't look great, but its not as good as the PS4 for games, period. There is no dispute on this - the PS4 GPU is 40 to 50% better, plus the PS4 has faster RAM. The games coming out are 1080p on the PS4 and 720p on XBOX. Xbox fans and reviewers can spin it all they want, but at the end of the day, the PS4 has better hardware (not just slightly better, 40 to 50% better) which is a HUGE difference in potential for games. Sure, there may be some great looking games on Xbox, but the same game on a PS4 will look better (assuming the game studio is worth their salt) just as a game on XBOX One should look better than on an XBOX 360 -- because the hardware is capable of delivering it. The XBOX One in my opinion wants to be my gaming console. Apple TV, cable box, and phone all in one. The thing is, I like my Apple TV, and my phone, and my ... ok, well I dont really like my cable box, but you get my point. Im not looking for those things in my gaming console. If thats your thing, and you dont mind not having the best console for gaming (the PS4), and you dont mind spending an extra $100, then the XBOX is an excellent choice. Comparing the PS4 to PS3 and/or XBOX 360 This one is tough. The PS3 and XBOX 360 are pretty nice consoles - both which have some awesome games. The gameplay on those consoles is usually very solid. In general, the graphics on PS4 vs either of those is quite noticeable. Colors are more vibrant, details much sharper, and animations buttery smooth. There is definitely a difference. However, I wouldn't say the jump was like moving from my PS2 to XBOX360 (if you can remember back that far). Don't get me wrong, its enough of a difference to get excited about, and your jaw may drop from time to time as you admire the scenery, and you may look back at your old XBOX 360 games and start to notice lack of detail on things that used to look just fine before. Summary I would imagine anyone getting a PS4 (minus any unlucky folks getting a DOA unit) would be extremely satisfied, especially since it combines the best gaming console available, at $100 less than the competition. And while it does offer quite a bit of multimedia features, my understanding is that if that is your thing, you may want to have a look at the XBOX One.
