Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with the PlayStation 4's impressive graphics, enjoyable controller, and ease of use. Many also praise its performance and find it to be a good value for the price. However, some customers point out the lack of backwards compatibility with previous PlayStation consoles and disappointingly short battery life of the controller. The absence of a bundled camera was also noted as a drawback by some users.

Great system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ps3 was released November of last year, and of course they were sold out through the holiday season. I checked the local best buys in Texas for 2 weeks straight every day to no avail. Then traveled back to Arizona checking every best on the drive back, sold out with no knowledge of when new shipments would be in. I was finally able to locate one in flagstaff on 2/09/14. I am also disappointed with the game line up available. The best buy in flagstaff had a sign up that stated ps4 available, but when I asked to buy one the sales rep stated he thought they were sold out. I asked why was the sign still up and he pointed out it said quantities limited. I would think if you were sold out the sign would be removed.

Our PS4 have connectivity issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I find myself really wanting to like this- I LOVE our PS3 but it will not allow for Netflix or Hulu which is important feature to us since we are a non television household. I constantly am irritated that it cost 400 dollars and can't keep a connection !?!

Let's bring balance to the force
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PlayStation 4 is a gorgeous piece of hardware. Good, now that we have that out of the way let's talk about a few things I've noticed on Amazon's website reviews for the newest member of Sony's stable of game consoles. As of this review there are 492 1 star reviews against 1615 reviews total. This would amount to a 30% failure rate of new consoles shipped if we can consider this a large enough sample size. Here on Best Buy's site there are 102 reviews with 22 being 1-2 star reviews, meaning approximately a 22% failure rate. If this is true then it is remarkably difficult to believe given that the standard failure rates of new technology, even at their worse, have a tendency to be under 10% in the very worst of scenarios (barring the RROD from the original Xbox 360 but that was an extreme case from a company not used to making their own hardware). Given this I would take these reviews with a grain of salt, but I thought I would throw my two cents into the discussion as I have been a loyal gamer since the days of the original NES. Design: As I stated above, the PlayStation 4 is a nice looking piece of kit. Sony has always been on the forefront of hardware design and it really shows here, given the power they are packing into a unit no bigger than a PlayStation 3 slim model. There is no power brick, no protruding buttons, and everything just blends together for a game system that looks like it is supposed to be from 2013. However, the design is not without flaws. Given that the power supply is integrated you will notice that he PlayStation 4 runs warm to the touch. It is not anything to get worried about but you do want to make sure there is some ventilation for the system. The disc drive is also noticeably loud. For Blu-ray and DVD movies you aren't really going to hear it but when the system loads up a game initially (remember even disc based games get installed to the hard drive) the disc drive screams as if to simulate the roar from the AMD Jaguar cores that power the system. Performance: Fast. The PlayStation 4 is fast. Menus flow smoothly, apps load quickly, and everything absolutely just works when compared to current generation console menus. Games install very quickly and those install times will only get better over time as game publishers learn how to optimize performance. Graphics: This is still out for debate given that Sony claims a 10x performance boost but first generation games almost never leverage the streghths. Killlzone: Shadow Fall and Resogun are gorgeous, if not basic games in their own right, but in my opinion there are no games currently that reflect the true nature of the graphics capabilities. The true visual fidelity will come with Bungie's Destiny and Ubisoft's Watch Dogs. Camera: I know Sony wanted to bring the cost down by not including the camera. I picked it up and I will say this...wait. The functionality is not really there and what is there doesn't work well. End of story. Media: Sony apparently didn't care much about media for the first round of PlayStation 4 software. All the basics are there (Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, Vudu, etc) but none are really fleshed out and easily accessible. The fact that Sony refused to put an IR port in order for universal remotes to control the system really hampers its ability to be a primary box since you always have to use the DualShock 4 to control the system. One word of warning, ironically, comes with using Amazon's Video on Demand application. It freezes my console every time I use it. It is not a random occurrence and this is isolated to Amazon's application only as far as my testing is concerned. This is a HUGE oversight and Amazon does need to rectify this issue quickly. Games: I will make this easy yet again...there are no games out barring KillZone: Shadow Fall and Resogun that really look next gen. We should see the true start to next generation graphics come next March when the second wave of games start to get released. Conclusion: The PlayStation 4 is a four star rating for me solely on potential and the fun I have had playing a few games and seeing the possibilities with the system. The social sharing is cool but I have not used it enough to truly lend my voice to it. I hope this review helps and try not to read into the plethora of 1 star reviews here on Amazon...I have a feeling many of them are not legitimate. Happy gaming!

Awesome Pic!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the PS 4 however there are not very many games for the system and Ive already gotten bored with it! With the price of the system you would think they would come out with some better games.

good gaming system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ps4 is an overall good system , but lacks anything really new from a ps3. Also the internet game play is not free anymore and server preformance is not anywhere close to what it used to be

Definitely a winning system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a PS4 and Xbox One owner I think this is definitely a perfect system for the common gamer. In my mind there really are not any cons to this system minus hard drive size, however the hard drive is upgradable. The system has a well designed look and the size is very pleasing, its not to big or bulky. As far as controllers go this is the best controller design that PS owners have seen yet. if you liked the PS3 controller you will love this one. It has a great feel in hand for long game play and holds a decent battery charge. I would easily recommend this system.

Good system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son, liked the graphics and functions of the system, but can't afford to pay a yearly fee to be able to play online. So we returned the PS4 and went back to a PS3.

Good console
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not a huge gamer. It was easy to set up. I'm hoping some of my PS3 accessories will work. The blu-ray player was able to play a Netflix DVD that my top of the line samsung Blu-ray player couldn't seem to handle.

Not worth the money.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If it wasn't for one brother-in-law that wants my husband to play ps4 games online with him, we would've returned this system to get our money back. This system is not anything special. It reminds me of dial up internet, turn it on and go do a chore because there is always a long loading screen! It doesn't allow sound to be played through both the TV and the headset. There also isn't an option to mute annoying players. Just because something is cheaper does not mean it's automatically better. I am just hoping the brother-in-law comes to his senses so we can sell and get rid of this garbage system.

This has gotten me excited about gaming again
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll begin with one small complaint I have about the PS4, and that's that, occasionally, I have connectivity issues on the PS network whenever I stream online movies from apps such as hulu. However, that's a small and infrequent problem that hasn't effected my overall enjoyment of the system. Interestingly enough, I never have issues during online game play. I've never owned a Sony console, except for the psp a while back. The reason I wanted to buy the PS4 over the Xbox was that I felt the ps4 was more committed to games which is the only real reason I would want a gaming console. Honestly, all the bells and whistles of the Xbox one kind of turned me off. I don't even have cable, so the ability to watch t.v. and play at the same time seemed ridiculous to me. Also, I really liked the PS4's sleek and space saving design. Now for gaming. The two games I purchased were Rayman Legends and Tomb Raider. I know, it's not Killzone or Battlefield, but I decided to try something different, that and I've gotten kind of tired of all the military shooters. Both games are incredible and I'm having a ton of fun playing them. The other wonderful thing is the year of PS plus that you can purchase when you buy the PS4. Which is actually only 30 dollars when you buy it at best buy in store. Which a good deal over Amazon. I've never actually cared as much for graphics as I have for fun, enjoyable, creative game design. And there are some really unique indie games on the PS network that are worth checking out. Some titles include Transistor and Flower. Both of which are really unique. Also, DC Universe is free to download and play which an incredible deal for such a fun game. There's a lot of variety with this system, and it really keeps me entertained. I love being able to play through a few levels of Rayman at the end of the day when I'm done studying for class. Or fly around the DC online universe for a while and battle super villains. Also, I'm incredibly excited for the upcoming releases due at the end of this summer like Dragon Age: Inquisition and hopefully Final Fantasy 15 to name a few. Hope sony keeps it up and keeps an eye on the PS network to make sure it's running smoothly.

Great graphics but horrible UI interface.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The UI looks like XBOX and I don't like it. I bought a PS4 because it was NOT an XBOX and now I'm stuck with a PS4 "XBOX". MP3/MP4 NOT SUPPORTED! However, the support for Bluetooth keyboard is great!
