Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with the PlayStation 4's impressive graphics, enjoyable controller, and ease of use. Many also praise its performance and find it to be a good value for the price. However, some customers point out the lack of backwards compatibility with previous PlayStation consoles and disappointingly short battery life of the controller. The absence of a bundled camera was also noted as a drawback by some users.

The Next Generation does not Disappoint
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had my PS4 for about two weeks now, which I feel is enough time to be able to provide an informed review. I have played AC IV, COD Ghosts, Resogun and NBA 2K14 so far on the new console, but the purpose of this review is discussion of the hardware and not the software (which, for a launch lineup, is fairly solid with a good deal of AAA titles). The console itself is a work of art. Sleek, lightweight and with an internal power source, this may be the best-looking console ever built. It is made even more attractive by the light bar at the top (or side, if the console is vertical) that tells you what the system is doing (i.e. white light for full power mode). Setup is simple and straightforward, and the machine is quiet. My only criticism is I wish they had replaced the beep sound when you turn it on with something a little more interesting, but that may have been intentional not to change something so associated with a PS. The Dualshock 4 is a better controller in every way. If I hadn't given my PS3 away, not sure I would have even used it because it is difficult to go back once you have used the DS4. it is more substantial, comfortable and functional. I really like the addition of the touchpad as well and hope to see it used in the future (for now, the best use I have found is the ability to pinch/swipe to zoom in and out the AC IV world map). In all, this controller was built for expansion of content/ideas. FInally, the software. Again, the dashboard is an improvement in every way over the PS3. It is more inviting, user-friendly, and the presence of auto downloads/updates is welcome. I will admit that it is still a little rough around the edges, and there is plenty of room for improvement, but this is exactly what I expected from a launch console. For example, when you plug in a pair of chat headphones, you can say "Playstation" and a window with simple voice commands comes up on-screen. It is easy to follow as the words you can say are highlighted, but there is not much functionality at this point. I am sure this will improve as new software updates are made. And finally, the biggest issue I have is the lack of compatibility between the PS4 and anything bluetooth. I bought the only set of headphones available for the PS4 (the Turtle Beach PX4's, which are a worthwhile upgrade) and even those require wiring to the DS4 for chat because the PS4 bluetooth function isn't operational yet. I only hope some of this will get better in time. Despite this, the PS4 has the basis for being an incredible console, and I have been very happy with it. Even Remote Play works this time (I have a Vita, and it works very well with the PS4) As developers learn to use the power the system has available, things will only get better. Job well done, Sony.

Ps4 really feels next-gen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ps4 looks amazing, can't believe its so small compared to any console before it. was really easy and fast to set up. It took me 5min to hook up the console to the tv and set up the ps4. The graphics look amazing. The dualshock 4 is amazing. Definitely worth the price. Some cool features: share button, charge control in standby, party chat for friends, playstation app. Great user interface, it never slows down the system and very easy to switch to different apps. Haven't found anything wrong with the ps4. That said, some people might not like the limited number of games for the system currently. It's a bit lacking but still great games available and more coming soon. Overall a great buy.

Great experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this console at my local Best Buy during a very smooth, organized and pleasant midnight launch. Picked it up, took it home and popped in a 1Terabyte hard drive as soon as I got the box open. It could not be simpler to get to the hard drive. Pop off the shiny side, remove one screw, slide out the drive bay and do the swap. Have a flash drive ready with the most recent update, and not too long after you're good to go! I was very pleased with how easy it was to get to the drive bay. If you've upgraded your ps3 hard drive, you'll be a pro at this one. In terms of the user interface, it is smooth and pleasant. It's a far cry from the XMB, but change is good. I got used to it pretty quickly. The background music can be a bit annoying, but you can easily turn it off along with the key tones. Downloading applications is nice and fast, no hassles at all. We all wish we had more games, but we also know they will be here before too long. Having a blast with Resogun in particular and you really can't beat the $10 ps3 to ps4 upgrade program. The console is running cool and quiet, is small and light, and is overall attractive. Using remote play with the Vita is easy and I've had no issues with it. The Playstation app also is coming in handy for sending messages and powering my ps4 on/off. The picture quality of the menu, apps & games is superb. I was playing Resogun and loving the graphical quality until....my screen blacked out for an instant. I thought nothing of it until it happened a couple more times. I then began to notice a very faint "snowy" look to the darker parts of the screen. It was not noticeable at first, but became more apparent as time progressed. I began to worry and asked if anyone else I knew had this issue. They didn't. After spending time troubleshooting and switching my hard drives back and forth...it turned out to be a faulty HDMI cable. I used the one that came in the box, so if anyone has similar issues try changing the cable. I almost brought this console back! So glad I didn't!! I just used one I had laying around here and its working like a dream. Overall, very satisfied with my purchase and cannot wait for upcoming games like The Order: 1886 and of course Uncharted!! Happy gaming!

Playstation 4 Gaming Console
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the console at lauch and I am more than happy with it. I originally owned a PS2, then moved to Xbox 360. My main qualm with the PS3 was the user interface and the PSN interface which has been corrected with the PS4. The PS4 still uses the standard x and y columnar scrolling, with a more "metro" feel like windows. First impressions were "where the heck is the power button" but as a style standpoint it was a good move to make it small. The graphics upgrade from the 360 is a huge jump, and in many games rivals my PC in overall texture quality. The games run steady at 60fps for reliable gameplay at a native 1080P. This device also doesn't need a power brick like the 360 had saving much more room in the wiring category of my entertainment setup. I very much enjoy being able to replace the factory HDD with another without voiding the manufacturers warranty. The battery life of the controllers is not that great, but they charge up very fast and with an available standby mode, charging is a breeze. Extra controllers do not come with another micro usb cord, so be prepared to buy another if you'd like to charge them simultaneously.
