Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with the PlayStation 4's impressive graphics, enjoyable controller, and ease of use. Many also praise its performance and find it to be a good value for the price. However, some customers point out the lack of backwards compatibility with previous PlayStation consoles and disappointingly short battery life of the controller. The absence of a bundled camera was also noted as a drawback by some users.

Its a console that's focused on games
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for a console that is games first, this is the one to get over the Xbox One. With a simple, streamlined UI, you jump in and out of your games with ease. Setup was easy for me after the initial update, and the games look crisp and great in full 1080P. If you want one box that does everything in your living room in regards to media, you might prefer the Xbox. But if you jus twant to play games, the PS4 is great.

Got me back into gaming!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this a couple of months ago and have been basically glued to it ever since. The graphics are great. At first you think that it looks just like PS3, but then you go and play an old favorite, and man are you wrong! Like I said, the PS4 has great graphics and the gameplay doesn't disappoint. The only things I don't like are the lack of media support (i.e., music, movies, and photos), the light bar that won't go off on the controller, and that it doesn't support old games. Even with that said, I still think PS4 is worthy of 5 stars.

Got it for Christmas and so far so good.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got the GTA V bundle version this ps4 for christmas and it really is a step up from the ps3. There are a few things I don't like with the new system though which are the inability to add your own custom wallpaper, save pictures from the internet using the ps4 browser and lastly the dualshock's battery dies really fast.

A Gamers Dream Machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ultimate in gaming, I love this system far more than any other I have ever used. If you're looking for THE pure gaming system of next-gen, look no further. Not too many games yet, but rest assured that'll remedy itself soon. Tried Xbox One at a friend's, and so glad I stuck with Sony's mind bending innovation. Microsoft is in for some real trouble here. I'm not going to get into a long rant about the Dualshock 4 controller, but it's simply great all the way around. A few of my favorite features are the speaker, which adds an element of realism to games that are currently using it, and the integrated headset jack. If I have one complaint, it's that the HDD isn't large enough for what I anticipate will be a boatload of space that I'll require down the road. Fortunately, Sony makes this an easy upgrade as well. Even if you can accomplish this on an Xbox One, you'll instantly void your warranty, so good luck. Really looking forward to all that emerges from the wonderful potential this console has. Much awesomeness awaits!

Best Play Station Yet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.if you looking for a new gaming console get the ps4. the controllers looks cool, plus you get free games every month with playstation plus. it also plays blu-ray. The only down side is that you can not connect a usb flash drive to transfer movies in the PS4 and play them. You would have to purchase the movies.

An exceptional and affordable gaming system.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned this console since the release date 11/16/2013. The graphics are a vast improvement from the current generation of game consoles. One of the biggest improvements besides the graphical capabilities is the new user interface. It's more easily navigable and it is also a pleasurable layout. The design of the machine itself is also pleasant to look at and looks nice sitting on or under a T.V stand. The Playstation 4 is surprisingly small, which is a plus if you have a smaller sized T.V stand or an already over-crowded one. My only complaints so far are the lack of games, which is to be expected on a new console that has been out for just over a month. Also no 3D-Blue Ray support is disappointing.

Solid system.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overheated immediately when I turned it on. I had it standing upright and the vents were not getting enough airflow. Runs like a champ once I sat it down flat. After downloading all the updates, I finally got into gameplay and that is what this system is all about. Games run smooth and graphics are amazing. The new GUI is strait forward and easy to navigate.Looking forward to many upcoming hours playing on another great playstation.

Amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Playstation 4 is well worth the $400 price of admission. Every single game with the exception of ONE, runs at 1080p, 60fps. The online experient is silky smooth and it's got multimedia options like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus and others. Its one of the best video game consoles I've ever owned, and I've owned every system since the 8-bit Nintendo. I actually bought this & the Xbox one, and prefer the PS4 for gaming. The controller is a vast improvement over the dual shock 3 & in my opinion, is superior to the Xbox One controller. The games are incredible as well. If you're a shooter fan, I recommend Killzone Shadowfall, its absolutly stunning to look at and its incredibly fun as well. If you're a Playstation Plus member, you'll also get Resogun and Contrast for free. If you are short on cash, there are plenty of free to play games that do not require a PS Plus membership, such as DC Universe Online and Blacklight Retribution. Knack is a good family game and supports local 2 player coop. You can sync you twitter and facebook accounts so it shows your real name and picture (optional). Twitch lets you upload video's and screen shots you've taken or broadcast your play sessions live with picture in picture. The camera support facial recognition and voice commands, but is sold separately. The only negative comment I can say about the system is that the battery life on the controller isn't the best, it gets about 6-8 hours of use, compared to the 30+ hours of the Dual Shock 3, but since the controller is re-chargable, this isn't really a big deal.

Great potential, powerful, bare-bones at launch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PlayStation 4 is a worthy and worthwhile successor to the PlayStation 3. Its power and speed is noticeable, as is its quieter processor and fan. The new Dualshock 4 controller is a fantastic upgrade, with marked improvements in grip, feel, and weight. While the added touchpad is featured sparsely in the current titles, it's incorporated well into the controller, feels slick, and has some nice potential. Most interesting of all is the new SHARE button, which has already facilitated millions of minutes of online streaming, posting, and sharing of gameplay. The PlayStation Camera (formerly PlayStation Eye) is a nice upgrade as well, with a higher resolution and facial recognition technology. While it requires an additional purchase, it seems worth the investment, even if it is not highly utilized at the present. Unfortunately, the user interface is very basic and minimalistic. There is currently no support for custom configurations of anything other than your profile avatar, and the selections for the avatar are limited and identical to the basic avatars available on the PS3. You cannot customize the theme, the wallpaper, or anything else at present. The PlayStation store is now an app embedded to the main menu, which loads quicker than on the PS3. The new look of the Store seems much more well-suited to the next generation of consoles as opposed to the current one. Overall, the PS4 is an exciting machine with a lot of hidden potential. We truly won't know its basic capabilities until late next year, when the developers have had time to experiment with the software and the game library is expanded. Is it a must-buy right now? Probably not. Will it be worth it to own a PS4 come spring 2014? Most undoubtedly.

I love this system!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well worth the wait. The UI is blazing fast and makes for a seamless experience. I picked up Killzone Shadow Fall with it and the graphics and detail are amazing. Sony improved over many areas of the PS3 and made an excellent product. The Dual Shock 4 is a nice change to the DS3. My one complaint is the controller's battery life could be better but nothing to worry about too much. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

better than expected!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always been a playstation fan. when i first started using the UI, it was very simple and easy to use. I assumed since games would be 10-40gb each that they would take a long time but it installs 33gb in 5 mins! going to and out of games almost seems instantaeuous. i really like standby mode which still supplys power to the usb and the playstation app is awesome. i went on my iphone and set the COD ghost freefall map to download which is over 700mb and when i went to play later the map was already downloaded on the system. which is conveinient and awesome. I lovve the graphics. much more [powerful than xbox. which runs COD Ghost at 720p while PS4 runs it at 1080p. Must buy you wont regret!!!

Great Gaming System
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked up this gaming system on Friday and have put a solid 8 hours into it. So far, the menu is a much better layout than the PS3. Much easier to navigate. Also, the system runs really smooth. I haven't noticed any choppiness in any of the games I got. The Dualshock 4 feels nice in your hand. The system looks nice in your entertainment center. My only complaint so far is that the PS4 should come with 1TB of memory as the standard. The 500 GB HD that comes with system only can hold about 12 games. I purchased the Seagate Momentus 1 TB HD, which has worked fine. If you want a next-gen gaming system, don't hesitate to get this one. Just expect to drop an extra $100 on an internal HD.

Great Console
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking to buy a next generation console, this is the way to go! I've owned my Playstation 4 for 3 months, and have had an amazing experience with it. The user interface is very fast, and efficient. You can easily access each feature of your Playstation 4. A great 1080p display, along with many amazing exclusives, such as the Uncharted Series! If you know you're going to purchase this console, i would suggest you adding a game to your cart. I won't recommend any specific games, but go look at gameplays if you'd like to see games you're interested in.

Get One!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having owned PS2, PS3, Vita and now PS4... it is a major upgrade as far as UI goes. Runs faster and cleaner. Set up was simple (can only hook up via HDMI, but seriously who uses composite/component anyways!). I have launch day PS4 and so far no issues, but my Bluray drive may be having issues...it runs really loud other than that the system is quite. Seems to run cool but have noticed slight heat after playing for a couple hours. Other than that, the DualShock 4 controller's battery has a shorter life than the DS3 or it seems that way. Overall, the meager launch line up of games may sway some away from it, but there are some great games too.

Great Launch Console
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received my PS4 on opening night and have been using it ever since without any hardware problems. The first thing that stood out to me was that this console was capable of running multiple downloads simultaneously. I was downloading the BF4 patch, DCUO, Resogun, Contrast, and Warframe all at once. After my patch was completed, I was playing BF4 online without any of my downloads stopping. Thus far, I've only played BF4, DCUO, and KZ:SF but I would say that I'm impressed with the performance with all three. The load times for BF4 and DCUO are much improved over their last-gen predecessors. Killzone takes a while to load between levels but I believe that's in part of the game devs, not the hardware. The PS4's graphical performance is on par with a mid-range gaming PC, so you'll hear a lot of PC elitists remark that it's nothing special. However, compared to any available console we've seen on the market thus far, the PS4 is a huge improvement. The controller is a huge improvement, and for those who have owned an XBox 360, you'll notice that the handles of the DS4 are quite similar to the 360's. Considering how the 360's controller is one of the most comfortable ones I've held in my life, I would say that emulating the competition was a good call. The console itself is small and compact compared to the PS3. The fan is noticeably louder than its predecessor, but I would say it's still quieter than my 360. I've heard other owners complain about overheating risks, but I haven't seen nor felt anything alarming with my console. If you want to run downloads while you're away, just put the PS4 in standby mode to save energy. One complaint is that unlike the PS3, this console cannot store/play mp3 files. It's also unable to store pictures and the background wallpaper cannot be edited, and I can't access the dynamic themes I had for the PS3. Sony did say that a future patch will give us these capabilities (at least in regards to the mp3s) but there's no exact date mentioned as of yet. The PS4 is not without media entertainment, though. We still have apps for music, movies, and sports to entertain us in the meantime.

Great Jump Into Next Gen!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally purchased an Xbox One, being a previous 360 owner, but after several months of disappointment involving a faulty Kinect sensor, continual glitches, and finally coming to the realization that the Xbox One was severely underpowered compared to the PS4, I sold my Xbox One on Craigslist and purchased a PS4. PS4 Positives ▪ Great design of the console itself. It is sleek and small - which is completely the opposite of the Xbox One. ▪ Great controller. The new Xbox One controller is great too. If I had to pick one the PS4 would barely win out, but they are both great. I like that the PS4 controller can be charged using the micro-USB and console. ▪ I love the PS4 home screen interface. It is simple and very easy to navigate. ▪ Games look great! Games run great! - NBA 2K14 looks slightly better on PS4, but it runs much better. I don't know if this is because of something about the game itself or bc the PS4 is overall more powerful. ▪ I'm really enjoying PSN and PS+ seems to be a very good and generous service. They give you free games! :-) Playstation 4 Negatives ▪ My only complaint is that I want more games. I really wish it was backwards compatible, but I know more games will become available in the near future. I really like my PS4. I had an Xbox One, was very disappointed and aggravated. I sold it, bought a PS4, and I'm no longer disappointed or aggravated! :-)

Needs More Options
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would like to say that I like this playstation. I have been an owner of each playstation model since the PS2. This one is not that big of a change from the PS3, but any of the changes they did make, they made fantastic. If you have a ps3, it might be a good idea to upgrade, but it depends on your wallet size and how badly you want to be current. The only complaint I have is that there is no way to customize the system to make you more 'you'. I would like to change the ugly blue background to something I am more interested. At this point that's not possible.
