Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with the PlayStation 4's impressive graphics, enjoyable controller, and ease of use. Many also praise its performance and find it to be a good value for the price. However, some customers point out the lack of backwards compatibility with previous PlayStation consoles and disappointingly short battery life of the controller. The absence of a bundled camera was also noted as a drawback by some users.

Looks amazing!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been watching E3 none stop I have compared the xbox one and ps4 in every angle and the ps4 just looks like the system for me and the clear winner. I have been enjoying my xbox 360 for over 6 years now but they really messed up the xbox one in my mind. Its more of a dvr with special features than a gaming console. The ps4 has no restrictions with used games, its not watching you, and doesn't have to be online. The ps4 is $100 cheaper and the list can go on and on. The games like killzone and knack looks amazing and the features look sweet! Sony has pulled an xbox fan over to there side sure ill get xbox one down the road for the next halo but for now I can't wait to get my hands on that ps4!

Awesome system!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love video games!! I don't care which system they are on, I just love video games. I got my PS4 on launch day and so far I am VERY satisfied with it. The UI (user interface) is very easy to use, the games that I have played are beautiful and fun and initial set up is very easy. I decided to swap out the 500 GB harddrive for a 1 TB harddrive and that couldn't have been easier.

Great Next Gen System
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Playstation 4 was super easy to install and looks great on my new TV. The supplied HDMI cord provides great graphics right out of the box. Once you start the system you are really able to see the difference between the Playstation 3 and the 4. The 4 is much more refined and is very user friendly.

Awesome system, controller, Plus membership benefi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.System looks minimalist cool. controller is very comfortable. user interface is very snappy. no youtube and browser can't play flash. i'm lazy and sometimes i want to browse web and watch videos. hoping for firmware update. no 3d blueray - there's no excuse. but, i bought it to play games primarily and the system runs killzone with incredible graphics without breaking a sweat.

Excellent console for serious gamers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have owned a Playstation console from any of the previous generations then you know exactly what to expect from the PS4. If you haven't owned a Playstation before then you're guaranteed a system that offers a great gaming and media experience. This latest generation offers lots of small improvements in overall quality: 1080P visuals, consistent frame rates of 60 fps, user friendly interface, useful social media features, and smooth transitions between applications. The system is designed first and foremost to make your gaming easy and enjoyable. System setup is fast and easy. Configuring your system for your family is a simple process of getting everyone registered thru Sony's Playstation Network. The games all look and play great. The new Dualshock 4 controller is a logical variation on the long standing Dualshock design. It just feels right when you sit down to play. If you're looking for a system designed with a gamer in mind that will also function as a central home media center then the PS4 is a great choice.

Excellent Gaming machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything you loved about the PS3 improved 10 fold and remade in a stylish ultra gaming device. Out of the box the PS4 looks amazing. Sleek, slim and modern. With all games being displayed in native 1080i you will notice the difference even playing a PS3-Ps4 port. The controller feels like the old Dualshock 3 but with major ergonomic improvements. The triggers and dual analogs feel amazing and responsive if possible even better the Dualshock 3. The new voice activated commands make a great addition. The additional speaker and sound from the Dualshock 4 controller itself really helps to immerse you into the games. The new touchpad on the controller is not only functional but smooth in game to bring up maps and sub screens. The speed of downloading and playing games has improved greatly. The PS4 menus flow smoothly and take very little time to get used to. Initial set up was a breeze and syncing with an existing PS account was simple and quick, I was up playing game within 15 minutes. The addition of being to stream games finally to the PS Vita is also an amazing addition and works GREAT!! Overall a great advancement over the PS3. Some issues reported that units were cashing no issues with mine...the only downside is some of the more anticipated games were either pushed back at launch or are scheduled to release shortly.

the best choice for real gamers!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lets just start off saying how obvious it is that all the bad reviews clearly came from xbox fanboys. The clear choice in the war of consoles is indeed the PS4 bar none. 100 $ cheaper. More impressive hardware and hence better graphics, no need for pointless Kinect being connected 24/7 watching you play, and lets be honest real gamers dont want motion sensors to play games, we want a nice good old fashioned controller in our hands. If you want a system that is more superior and wont be guaranteed to break get a sony. If u want a Microsoft paperweight that is sure to break every year like the xbox360 did then ur choice is clear.

Excellent console
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The graphics are an improvement over the older systems as well as the speed the games load up. The UI is much easier to navigate and being able to go from game to the home screen is faster and better compared to the PS3. The new DS4 controller has been resigned and makes it even better than before, it even has a built-in speaker so that while you're playing some games, sound can come from the DS4. If you're looking at getting a new console i would definitely recommend the PS4. Sony always has the best exclusive games and 2014 will bring lots of great titles to play.

PS4 amazes me
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked this up at an Elite private shopping event. I wasn't expecting Best Buy to have this available but when they asked if I wanted a ticket for one I said yes I do, and boy am I glad I did. I have the 1st gen PS3 and never had an issue with it so I never upgraded or replaced it. The first thing I noticed was the size of the unit. It is easily less than half the size of my PS3. The dualshock 4 feels even better in my hands than the 3 did. Downloading the software update took 6 different attempts before it finally installed. After that it was time for Battlefield 4. Wow! Amazing graphics and amazing frame rate so much going on at once with no slow down. My biggest smile came when I got around to breaking out my PS Vita that I haven't used in many months. Connecting the vita was easy once I updated the vita's software. I fired up the remote play and couldn't believe all I could do. I turned on the PS4 from my vita and was shocked to see the PS4 UI on my vita. So I selected Battlefield 4 and started playing it on my vita right where I left off, too cool. Now when my wife wants to watch her shows I don't have to stop gaming just switch the input back to satellite and fire up my vita. If you already have a vita the PS4 is a must purchase. If you have a PS4 a vita needs to be in your future gaming purchases.

Looking forward to it.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never owned anything related to XBox in my life and I can't say I've ever really wanted to. I bought my PS3 during the first months it came out and I still runs perfectly. I did have to buy another recently because the 15GB amount of space I had was becoming tougher and tougher to manage. I was and still am perfectly content with my system, but I am looking forward to what the PS4 can offer. I don't know about others, but I'm buying and gaming system to actually play games. I don't need all these apps and stuff, I'll probably never use them. The graphics of the games look amazing, the internal specs are great, and the price is fair. That's what matters to me. People seem to have a big issue with the backwards compatibility though. I happen to still have all my old PS systems, including 1. It's really not that hard to hook them up to the TV if I want to play a game. Maybe I'm just lucky like that. Either way, I enjoy reading the counterarguments that are more than just, 'XBoxOne is better'.

Great Next Gen Console!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new Playstation 4 is an absolutely amazing console. I purchased mine at launch from BestBuy and I could not be happier w/ the customer service at my local store! Not let's talk about the console... The PS4 comes w/ a new and improved controller (Dual Shock 4 aka DS4) The controller feels extremely comfortable in the hands making hours of gaming easy on them. No stress or cramping on the fingers. Okay, the PS4 console itself is very lightweight and slim. You can place it on all flat on your entertainment center or you could purchase a stand for it and have it stand up unlike the XB1. All the games are made in 1080p HD and the graphics look amazing! You must purchase Playstation Plus to play multiplayer games and some might find this as a negative but I don't. I spend most of my time online w/ friends but also keep in mind that Sony includes several free games every month w/ PS+. However if you are one that will not be spending most of your time gaming online keep in mind you do NOT need to purchase PS+ to watch Netflix, Hulu or other similar services oh and you can also download the Free to Play games WITHOUT PS+ I own both consoles (the other new one being the XBox One) both are great but so far IMO if I had to chose one, it would be the PS4. Hope this helps, happy gaming!

Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Where should I start...The Set up is real easy, it took about maybe 15 to 20 min. The graphics are amazing. The details on every games is incredible. I like how you could go from the game to the homepage, without end the game. Even when you are playing in multiplayer you could go to the homepage, and the go back to multi. I like how could download multi of stuff and still play your game. The only thing I don't like is that, it doesn't support 3D blu ray disc. It support 3D, but not the 3D blu ray. The controller feel great, It was made perfect for my hand. The analog stick feel nice and smooth. I wont trade it for nothing in this world. Now Comparing the Xbox one, they are both great system. I think at the end of the day its what you would like. Playstation 4 play games at 1080p up to 4k, download more than one thing at a time. Playstation is all about gaming. Now the Xbox one games is at 720p up to 1080i. You could interact your TV, and cable. Almost everything with the Kinect. Not including all the stuff you could do with the Kinect. At theend of the day I choose playstation 4, don't get me wrong I will still get the xbox one. And I kno this stuff about the xbox one because my friend bought one. And he brought it over for whole day, and we both did a comparation.

I'm extremely impressed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The console itself is extremely nice looking console if that matters to you. It is extremely fast, there's no loading times switching through the menus, the new UI interface is easy to navigate, fast(pretty much opposite the ps3), and intuitive and a really big step up from the PS3. The PS plus games that came with it for free are actually really good, the controller is a big step up from ps3 and feels good in your hands. The graphics are amazing, as expected, and as for install times I was able to download and install Resogun from the playstation store in about 1 minute 30 seconds. Bigger games like AC4 and Killzone took about 10 minutes from the disc. One thing that is pretty cool is if you go to a friends house and log into their PS4 console you can play your games on their console. Another cool thing that I love is I was playing Killzone, I hit the home button, and opened Netflix which left Killzone running in the background, then when I was done with Netflix I switched back to Killzone without having to ever close or reload anything. I was really surprised by this, it was pretty impressive. I sat here for a good 5 minutes and tried to think of something that I didn't like about the console and actually couldn't, so I guess that means it gets a 5/5 for me

Amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was going to buy a Xbox one. I was. I went into the store and had the box in my hand. Then i said why not just check out the PS4 and see what its like just so I know I'm making the right choice. I played the PS4 and was blown away. I went back to the Xbox and played that and was shocked. I wanted the playstation. What really sealed the deal was how comfortable the controller felt compared to the Xbox. After getting it home and playing for awhile I know I made the right choice. Hands down the best out there.

Best system Sony has ever made
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Graphics, speed and accessibility for a low price. The only knock on the system is that it requires all games to be preloaded into the HDD. This takes way too much memory. I have the standard 500G HDD and with 7 games I'm almost half way full. I've only had the system a week. So I don't know if they can figure something out. But people will go through their HDD in less than a year if they game the way I do. I will go back to the positives because no one likes to hear bad things all the time. I love the share button, but with that you are going to have to look into the app management section because it also saves gameplay footage even if you don't want to.. That can eat up memory as well. Sorry I lied, that was bad news as well. Ok back to the good stuff, the graphics are amazing, amazing, amazing for a console.. I am blown away by how games look. We thought the PS3 looked good. Wait till you see this. The controller is the best Sony has ever made. I don't why so many people loved the Xbox controller, I could't stand it and this controller blows that one away to. I love how the system knows you without you having to do much. I feel like Sony didn't have to boast about what the system does it just does it.

Easy to use system with great features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS4 visually is sleek looking. A half-gloss half-matte exterior gives it a somewhat futuristic look. It sits flat and blends in well with the other home theater components. Regarding performance, the PS4 is visually stunning for the games I have played so far (Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag) although I would've liked to have seen a new genre/style of game that launched with the PS4. I experienced no problems with the machine itself; no freezing, bugs, etc so far. It also offers something no other system before it has offered: Standby Mode! This allows the downloads/updates to continue even if you are not playing as well as offering the ability to charge the controller battery with the machine not being completely on. It uses less power in this mode as well. The controller has a new touch pad and feels solid in your hands. New thumbstick design is more ergo-friendly too. It's a nice update to the classic controller even though the battery doesn't seem like it lasts through marathon gaming sessions. It could be due to the constant power drain from the unnecessary in-controller light on the front. Overall, it's a nice step forward in the PlayStation and I'm glad I bought it.

Made the switch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been playing xbox for as long as I can remember. Xbox one just too much $. Also got tired of the online problems like servers not working and having to return 5 xbox 360's due to problems was my reasons for trying PS4 and so happy I did. It is so user friendly and fun to operate. No re-booting like I had to do pretty much once or twice a week with 360. The graphics are awesome and the price for accessories make me happy I switched. Traded in all 360 stuff and got a bunch of PS4 stuff. Awesome system!

Next Gen Greatness
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony PlayStation 4 is exciting from the moment you take it out of the box. It's sleek and sexy form factor makes it pleasing to the touch and will look great on your entertainment stand. Setup only takes a few minutes and is a breeze. Right off the bat you'll want to try out some of the new free to play games on the PlayStation Store. Downloads are super fast, and you can even begin playing the games before the downloads are complete. Once you fire up one of the disc based games, like Battlefield 4, Killzone: Shadowfall, or Assassins Creed: Black Flag, you will instantly feel like you're playing a next generation console. The visuals are absolutely amazing. I personally bought four major titles, but have yet to move past Battlefield 4, just because it's so much fun. The controller is excellent as well. Xbox expatriates will have no trouble adapting here. It's a much needed area of improvement over the Dualshock 3. The Dualshock 4 is right at home in a first person shooter game. Battery life on the DS4 is good as well at around eight to ten hours. Overall, I would definitely recommend buying a PlayStation 4 to anyone contemplating the jump to next gen gaming.

Truly next gen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS4 is truly awesome. The controller is a big upgrade over the dualshock 3. Navigation is fast and intuitive and we've enjoyed downloading triple A titles from the first day and being able to play right away. I've heard complaints about DOA machines but mine (and everyone one I know who's purchased one) has been working flawlessly. I've owned 7 Xbox 360s which all either got the red ring of death or had DVD drive trouble, so I am steering clear of Microsoft this round. They lost my business with lousy customer service and faulty hardware. The PS4 feels very solid, runs quite and cool. I also love that is doesn't require an external power supply like Xbox. I also liked that it was $100 cheaper (yes, I realize it doesn't have Kinect but I've learned my lesson with that piece of hardware as well.) If you want a box for playing games and streaming music as well as movies, the PS4 is doing a great job.
