Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the PlayStation 4's impressive graphics, enjoyable controller, and ease of use. Many also praise its performance and find it to be a good value for the price. However, some customers point out the lack of backwards compatibility with previous PlayStation consoles and disappointingly short battery life of the controller. The absence of a bundled camera was also noted as a drawback by some users.

    Next Gen Is Here

Everything has been improved over the PS3. The controller has been upgraded with concave analog sticks and triggers, so no more slipping fingers. The network is faster, so downloads and updates are quick and in the background. No more watching install bars, except my only gripe... The requirement of full game installs. You'll want to install a larger HDD, because you only get about 409 Gbs of space for the user and some games take up to 50 Gbs! Sure you can uninstall when space is needed, but it'll be another hour install, if you go back to install a large game like that. It's easy to upgrade the HDD. It cost about $120 for a 1.5Tb HDD.

    PS4-Like No Other

I have fomd memories of the PlayStation line of products. Since 1995 I have experiemced some of the greatest exclusives the game industry has ever seen. I was introduced to now popular franchises like Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Twisted Metal, Crash Bandicoot through the PS1, and later Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, and Jak amd Daxter, I bought a PS4 to continue with greatness, and so far I have gotten it. The Dualshock 4 is Sony's best controller they've ever made, and the PS4 UI is fliid and seamless, There are more games than I cam count, that I want now , amd in the future for PS3 , PS4 amd also PS Vita. Lomg. Live. Play.

Great system!!! Graphics are smooth and fluid

First off, the graphics and textures are unbelievable! Gameplay and cut scenes are almost identical. Secondly, online I have found the system shows no lag or hesitation. Even after a few crashes the very first night after launch, the game system is amazing. I've been playing Battlefield 4 since launch and it's like a whole new game from the Playstation 3. Now for the frustrating part... no backwards compatibility! My old Playstation has been crashing lately and I was hoping the PS4 would be able to play my old library, but that doesn't seem to be coming in the near future or at all. All that being said, it's worth the upgrade!

Purchased this 2 years ago, upgrading from an Xbox 360. Used the Xbox maybe once every 2 weeks, not to often. This console has got to be the greatest purchase in my whole life, use it on a daily basis. Great graphics, games, operating system, everything is perfect.

Great specs, PS4 for the next generation

Xbox looks like a solid console, but PS4 is gonna dominate the next gen, here's why: PS4 engine is 50% more powerful than Xbox one, $100 cheaper, ps plus, which contains alot of AAA titles for FREE, and of course all the exclusive games, then there's, Netflix, cross game chat, Social-media integration, etc

After a few days with the system, I have to say that I have loved every minute of it. I've been an Xbox gamer for the past 5 years and I thought it was time for a switch to ps4. The graphics are amazing and I really enjoy bringing up the dashboard instantly during games. I love how the mic works on the ps4. No need for turtle beaches. The game sound goes directly to your standard 3.5 mm headset(iPhone ear buds work) by plugging it into the bottom of the controller. The console is amazing looking and the controller is a huge improvement over the old dualshock 3 and was easy to get used to coming from Xbox 360. I highly recommend the PS4.

    Fantastic console

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a PS4 without a preorder. Tried my luck at best buy on launch night by standing in line and to my surprise I was able to pick one up without any fuss. The console is fantastic. The look isn't quite as beautiful as the original PS3 (to me at least), but is still a good design. The graphics as expected are outstanding. It doesn't take a giant leap over the PS3 graphics. What it does is add a lot more detail and more attention to the environments which creates a more complete visual experience. The system runs a lot smoother and a lot faster with less hiccups and faster loading times. One negative for me is definitely the fact that games take over a lot more hard drive space. At the moment it does not affect my gaming because there aren't as many games out. But as we purchase more games and install more games, we will all be forced to upgrade our hard drive or get really creative with data storage. All in all a great product and it was totally worth the money I spent on it.

This is the clear winner in the next-gen console war. Sony did an awesome job with the design and power of this console all while keeping it quiet and so small in size.

my son has a wii u, and my wife has an xbox one and ps4. this is by far my favorite of the three as far as graphics, resolution on her 60" tv, games, and user interface. for a teenage to adult i would pick this over the competitors, or of course buy all three~

I have no complaints with my PS4. I've been playing it since the 15th and enjoying every second. Sony made a great system that is fast, fluid, easy to use, and incredibly compact. I was amazed at how much space I still have left on my TV stand once I got the entire thing setup. The controller is a masterstroke that fits firmly in your hand and all of the controls are within perfect reach of each other, making gameplay feel very intuitive and natural. The game library isn't the greatest right now but that's to be expected. It's certainly an investment for the future and in my opinion, a wise one.

    Extremely Slim and Attractive Console

I purchased the console on the launch date with a few different games (Killzone, Need for Speed, AC4) and the games look great. I noticed that at some points, the fan kicks on pretty loud (louder than my PS3 ever did) but I've been lucky enough to not have any system overheating issues yet. I did purchase the 3 year Sony warranty just in case though. The new UI is great and is quick. The new controller feels much better and it's great that all game audio can be output through the audio jack although the battery seems to wear down quicker than I would have expected. I've been disappointed that some of the functionality of the PS3 wasn't carried over. I can't watch movies, view pics, or listen to music via USB. No DLNA to remotely view files. I understand this is likely to counter some of the illegal content being viewed but I hope they patch for this capability soon (I believe they said they were looking to add this at some point). Overall though, the system is great as a gaming console.

    Top console for hardcore gamers

This in the only console that allows your HDTV to display many of the launch games at 1080p - the current maximum for most mainstream TV's. Like any consoles of the past, this will get better as it matures and I'm really impressed how quiet it runs compared to previous consoles. You may swap the hard drive for larger disk or SSD's. Don't believe the overstated press about failure rates. Inspect the HDMI input and cable supplied (or use your own) and make sure the hard drive screw is properly fastened. If you are already a PS+ member, you get to start with free games like the highly rated Resogun.

This console is cheap for true gamer, it also better hardware wise compared to the xbox one. If I would stick with one console, it would be the playstation 4 because of the deal I'm getting when i purchase playstation plus with it, free games with the plus is all i needed to here . Get this, you won't regret it, I've been with playstation all my life, and I'm not disappointed. They listened to the consumers

Love the unit. Was very easy to set up. The updates were fairly quick and unit could be used fairly quickly out of the box. Graphics were a decent step up from previous console and controller feels very similar to dual shock 3 with added benefit of small touch screen. The new dashboard screen is much better than previous version which makes the whole experience more enjoyable. Love the voice commands using new camera feature and console responds quickly. I have all consoles and Xbox has been my favored console, but the PS4 is making the choice more difficult. Would highly recommend this product.

I decided to upgrade all my systems, PS3, Xbox 360 to the current generation. The PS4 doesn't disappoint except in battery life on the controller. I recommend that if you're a gamer who plays for long periods of time to have a second controller charged and ready at all times. Maybe turning down the rumble and turning off the light will help, but all in all, it doesn't last nearly as long as the PS3 controller battery did.

The hardware design is impressive. It's smaller than the Xbox One, yet more powerful. More GPU cores and 8GB super-high bandwidth GDDR5 memory. It supports used games, has great first party support, indie devs can self-publish, you own the games you buy and it's only $399. Thank you, Sony.
